Earlier today, French competitor Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr announced that she has found a new sponsor in Red Bull. The energy drink manufacturer has long had a presence in competitive gaming, but this is the first of their endorsements to land so close to the fighting game community.
The Team Mad Catz member held brief positions with both Low Land Lions and eLive in 2011. Though major tournament appearances have been rare recently due to her work with GameOne’s esports programming, she’s proven herself to be a very strong player in a variety of games, including Soulcalibur, Dead or Alive, and Street Fighter.
In her statement, Norindr cites the closeness of the organization’s values with her own as a factor in their partnership, mentioning that she plans to use this new opportunity to strengthen the French community.
The first step in that goal just so happens to be her very first project as a Red Bull player. An upcoming series of “Kayane Sessions” are set to expand her freeplay Paris gatherings to major cities outside of the capital in an effort to bring the region’s players together to train, have fun, and build their fighting game scene.
Her full statement on the sponsorship can be found here.
We would like to congratulate both Norindr and Red Bull on their partnership, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future.
