Here’s a bit of interesting news for Street Fighter fans who also happen to like anime. The February issue of Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine is set to announce that an anime adaptation of Rensuke Oshikiri’s 2010 manga High Score Girl has been greenlit.

The series is described as a “90s arcade romantic comedy” focusing on the relationship between a boy named Haruo and the titular “High Score Girl” Akira. The former is a sixth grader who spends too much time in the arcades, one day receiving the shock of his life when he encounters his classmate Akira. Their relationship begins when she destroys him in a game of Street Fighter II.

More details on the anime adaptation are expected when Big Gangan is released later this week, so stay tuned.
