The 3rd TOPANGA LEAGUE (A) is a pay-per-view series of broadcasts. Check here for more information.

The 3rd TOPANGA LEAGUE heats up this weekend with the start of A League play! After a very tight race at the top of the preceding B League, four players managed to fight their way into A League: Dashio, wao, Michael-tan and Mago.

The reigning A League champion Fuudo was quite dominant in last year’s 2nd League, but since then other A Leaguers have shown strong performances, in tournament and in exhibition. Who will claim the top spot this year and claim the 1 million yen first prize?

Daigo vs Haitani highlight of an amazing match: Highlight of a crazy round yesterday between Daigo and Haitani:

Needs to be in that compilation vid

    • Wedge

Haha, it’s like 3s Makoto all over again. Too bad dat stun is the only way she ever actually lands Abare Tosanami in IV.

    • That’s ill.
      Daigo got greedy.

  • Sauron

Damn , wao is owning 🙂

  • Remster

Wao beat Sako, Haitani and Fuudo 3-0?!?! Damn that Oni.

    • TheBlackRabbit

how is he 2nd in rank…..

  • Deusxmachina

Cmon Haitani, get your shit together man.

  • Kazzzem

There’s a mistake in ‘Current Standings’. wao should be: 4-1 with +10 GD

  • Thearesou

wao is one of the most impressive SF4 players I’ve seen…maybe even the most impressive. Amazing footsies, amazing spacing, amazing reactions, amazing execution, amazing reads, amazing punishes…I can’t think of another SF4 so complete as wao!

    …so far wao beat:

    Haitani 3-0
    Fuudo 3-0
    Sako 3-0
    Momochi 3-0
    Uryo 3-0
    Kazunoko 3-0
    Bonchan 3-0
    Mago 3-1

    • bavobbr

Thats indeed unseen against that level of players. He proves that SF4 still has a lot of life in it, and that the scene keeps evolving. Daigo will be the last hero to topple

    • oussama boujrida

      umehara 3-2 o_O shotos rule in this game 2 ken , 1 ryu , 1 oni

      • eilegz

yeah just like capcom cup asia finals where shotos outrunned the competition Kappa

        • Steven

          SHOTOS SHOTOS SHOTOS

  • Fuudo is really struggling right now; tied for last place at -8 points. He’s the only person here who doesn’t have a 2nd character.

Maybe he should learn to play a 2nd character… and maybe I should do the same now that I think about it, LOL.

    • OtokoKhan

You know who’s doing the best in this league? The players that only use one character: wao, Daigo and Michael Tan.

Also: only Sako and Uryo have used their second character so far…the others haven’t and probably won’t.

      • Toysoldier82

Wao and Michael Tan have secondaries.

Whether they use them or not remains to be seen.

      • Wow, thanks for the heads up. It’s tough to see exactly how well your favorites are doing when you’re only looking at results in numbers and charts.

Im worried about Fuudo because he was the one that I voted to win the Capcom Cup last week in the polls. Looks like I was dead wrong lmfao

It looks like Fuudo isn’t even tied for last place anymore, now he’s just dead last. Darn

      • One more thing, sometimes your opponent will get nervous when they know that you can play more than one character, because this means that they have to prepare for 2 different matchups.

I think Fuudo did bad here not bcuz he only played 1 character, but because his opponents knew that he was only capable of playing that one character. From this point, all they had to do was worry about Player: Fuudo, and Character: Fei Long.

I think Fuudo set himself up for failure, by not learning or registering a 2nd character for this tournament. But in the end, this is just my take on it from looking at charts and numbers.

        • Toysoldier82

He set himself up for failure by saying if he gets 8th or worse he’ll do a kumite while cosplaying as Harry Potter.
Clearly his opponents wanted to see it too, so they studied Fuudo’s playstyle even harder.

  • eilegz

time for the harry potter cosplay fuudo

  • wes yoshida

“sako drops to B League” Are you serious? D:

    • Kazzzem

Yep, Tokido, Mago, Haitani and Sako are all in the B league now. 3 of the gods are now in the B league!

  • You can find a guide on how to watch Topanga here…

  • Edu Alonso Carrasco

    Wao is just unstoppable now

  • bavobbr

Battle of the bosses, Wao vs Daigo. A match for honor as it doesnt matter for Wao as long as he wins against Bonchan later on, but Daigo would be great to have on your list.

    The comebacks are insanely tense

  • eilegz

    bonchan the real king 😀

  • Secksonlegs

Wao was really good entire B and A league, but I have a feeling some of his wins came due to randoming people out as he was relatively unknown (and so is his character at high level), but as we saw today some of his tricks got countered and most of his shenanigans didn’t really work ( he still played super solid don’t get me wrong). Props to bonchan for stepping it up 🙂
