Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Slated for Spring 2014 Arcade Release, New 2D Fighter Announcement Expected in October

By on September 3, 2013 at 11:44 am

Earlier today, staff of Osaka’s Kohatsu game center tweeted information regarding a few new releases that will be heading to Sega’s ALL.NET service. While these new details reiterate the fact that Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (which is now available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) will arrive this winter, they also released information on Arc System Works’ upcoming Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-.

The continuation of the popular Guilty Gear franchise is scheduled to release sometime during spring of next year. The first trailer released for this title caused waves when it was initially released, and what was shown at a recent location test bodes well for the future of this series. If you’ve been eagerly awaiting news of its release, now you have something to look forward to.

The tweet also mentions that a new 2D fighter will most likely be announced in October, though no information on the developer was included.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as more concrete information becomes available. For now, feel free to visit out comments and let us know what you think. With an arcade release certain for next year, when do you think it will arrive on consoles?

I hate it when american websites give out release dates as “next summer”, “this winter” and so. Guess what U.S.A? America is not the whole world, I don’t have the slightest clue as to when the seasons hit on your country. Damn it.

Xrd will probably arrive on consoles before XBLA gets +R…

    • wigsplitter

Is +R on PSN North America? I know its on Japan systems. just wondering.

      • Logan Via

No. Everyone that has +R is using a Japanese PSN account. I don’t have a PS3 or I’d have done the same thing. I’m stuck waiting for the XBLA release.

  • Kevi Johnson-el

    so basically 2015 Console release

    • H_Magnus

And that’s just OUTSIDE of Europe. D:

  • Nomad

It seems like they really like to let games get a good run in Japan arcades before they even hint at a console release, so I’d guess we’ll probably see it early to mid (hopefully no later) 2015. Personally I hope i’m wrong, because that would be a supreme bummer for us in America since arcades are a memory for the vast majority.

  • Rahavic

    New 2D fighter? O_o

    • Yogsagath

Super Roboky fighter 5 I’m calling it.

    • John Doe

      Maybe new Melty iteration?

  • heatEXTEND

Alright non-Jap airdash players, once again it’s time to show the world what we’re made of………..LET THE WAITING BEGIN ! ! ! !

  • Mr. X

And with this news, the airdasher community just dropped BBCP and P4A2 to wait for GGXrd.

    • Gespenst Ritter

People who are foolish enough to do this are going to be waiting for a hell of a long time.

      • Louis Lam

Why wait when you can play GGAC+?

        • Yogsagath

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh?

  • Unemployment Master

    2015 can’t come sooner… It really can’t.

  • Raiden365

Nice. That means a possible release in late 2014 or early 2015.

  • Raiden365

Nice. Hoping for a late region free 2014 release then.

  • swordsman09

They’re doing it again. Announcing something just before something else (Chrono Phantasma) comes out. Maybe it’s Kokonoe DLC. lol

  • TheBlackRabbit

The thing that really caught my attention is the new fighter….

  • Richard N

We really REALLY need to get a cabinet stateside.

  • twenty-one?

    When is America getting +R?

  • Oniros

I only hope that this doesn’t overlap too much with the P4A2 arcade release.

  • jelani noel
