JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle – Day 1 Video Roundup: Combos, Glitches and Infinites

By on August 30, 2013 at 12:20 pm

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle has only been out for a day in Japan and East Asia, but people are already putting out a ton of videos for the game. While most of these are on Japan’s Nico Nico video service, folks like ImShiawase and UltraTien have been reposting videos from Nico Nico onto their YouTube channels for the rest of the world to see. Meanwhile, noted CMV maker Persona has made his own contribution.

The videos focus mostly on combos, including a few basic combo demonstrations useful for anyone looking to pick up the game. In addition to this, there are also videos focusing on glitches including some Rival School’s style jump in infinites for certain characters. Check them out below and let us know what you think.

First up, we have these videos showing off some combos for Josuke Higashikata (from Part IV) shared by UltraTien on his channel.

Next up we have a compilation of basic combos for Part VI’s Jolyne Kujo from 中猫. This video comes with combo notation making it good for anyone looking to learn Jolyne.

Also from ImShiawase’s channel are these combos for Giorno, Ceasar, Bruno,  Gyro and Part VIII Josuke. These come courtesy of higurasi, Spookie, 新井木, MAVEN, 化膿恭子, and かいるん.

Meanwhile, Persona has made this short combo video for Part III protagonist Jotaro Kujo.

The 3D nature of the game also allows for some nice stage-specific combos.

Of course, no collection of JoJo’s combo videos is complete without some for Dio Brando himself.

Speaking of Dio, his Part III version currently has a glitch that occurs with his Stand, the World, that makes timestop last longer than intended.

Next up, we have a couple of jump infinites for Jolyne and Diavolo. Long time fighting veterans will note that these look similar to the jump in infinites from Capcom’s Rival Schools and ostensibly work the same way – by allowing the attacking character to quickly re-jump while the defending character is still in the hitstun from a prior jump in attack.

Then we have a bunch of infinites where different characters simply keep hitting their opponent in mid air as they would a speed bag in boxing.

  • I don’t get the Part III, IV, VI, thing. Does anyone have a link that clears that out?

    • Klimax

It refers to what arc the character is from. For example part 3 is stardust crusaders which is what the first anime and game were based off of.

      • Thanks!

So, they’re like manga arcs, but more on the Final Fantasy system, of new “realities” every time.

        • Planche

Basically. Parts 1-6 all take place in the same timeline, while Parts 7-8 are in a separate timeline/reality from the earlier parts.

          • BeboBoBeman

ahh just like the Aeon Flux series

    • Justin Archer

only 6 7 and 8 are alternate universes. 1 through 5 are cronological.

      • xanderglz

7 and 8 actually. Stone Ocean still follows the previous 5 arcs

    • d3v

We’ve put up a short primer on the game/series for those who arent’t familiar with it.

  • xanderglz

The game is broken beyond belief… just like the manga itself. And the fans are loving every damn minute of it.

Don’t see a problem here tbh

  • Manup21

*shrugs* a fan service type of game that caters to people who want to have a large combo counter. Looks cool at any rate lol

  • Planche

I think the vid with the stage specific infinites was posted twice by mistake?

  • EA575

the ASB twitter posted they’re working on a fix

    • MasterScrub

I was worried they weren’t going to care about them, glad to see they’re fixing it!

  • Geoffrey Tasker

    oh the Androgyny!

    • cybermoranis

Yarse, I have a high tolerance for bonkers-ness in games but I think I’ve found my threshold, way too Japanese for this pasty round-eye! I’ll stick to my North Star exploding heads “You’re already…SQUELCH!!”

  • gigantor21

LOL @ Jotaro getting run over during his combo. The hell? XD

  • Wedge

    Horse Infinites, too hype.

    • Jerrod Branson

Yeah, at least the horse isn’t undead in this game.

  • Quan Chi

needs better hitsounds. doesn’t feel like the hits even hurt.

  • Julio D. Zulkarnain

No one uses Hol Horse or Akira from Part 4 🙁

  • GuyAlpha

    Josuke is best Jojo.

  • d3v

In case anybody hasn’t noticed, we now have Nico Nico embeds on the front page.

    • GuyAlpha

Oh, I almost overlooked all 15 of them.

  • Unemployment Master

Needs more Iggy (the dog) from Stardust Crusaders (Part III).

    • d3v

      Iggy’s is DLC.

  • Adorabunny
