While Instaburst is busy turning League of Legends into a fighter (with Riot’s blessing), it appears SNK Playmore has decided to go the opposite direction. It was recently announced that the company is planning to release a multiplayer online battle arena (or MOBA) title based off their King of Fighters series, developed by South Korean studio Dragonfly and published by True Digital Plus in Thailand.

At this point in time, very little is known about The King of Fighters Online, but an official website has been launched with videos detailing skills for Kyo, Terry, Joe, Iori, and Tizoc. Screenshots reveal that Ralf, Kasumi, Kula, Vanessa, Shion, Billy, Maxima, and other series veterans will also be making appearances in the title.

A closed beta is planned to start September 4, but will only be open on Thailand servers. No details have been divulged regarding King of Fighters Online releasing in other areas, so it may very well be restricted to the Thai region. For now, feel free to check out the media that has been released below and let us know what you think.
