UPDATE – And just like that, the Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm campaign has met the first stretch goal, which means support for the GGPO netcode will be added into the game. This is exceptionally good news for players outside of Japan, and we would like to congratulate Nyu-Media and Hotapen on the continued success of their fundraiser.

The rest of the stretch goals have been detailed below. Keep the donations flowing on the official Indiegogo page and let’s see how far we can get.

$75,000: New Song

A new song track with vocals.

$85,000: Refinement of the Existing 8 Characters

New moves, new voice acting, and rebalancing of the existing characters.

$117,000: 3rd New Character

A 3rd new character. Which character we add will be decided by backer voting.

$149,000: 4th New Character

A 4th new character. Which character we add will be decided by backer voting.

$162,000: New Dynamic Commentator (Japanese)

New Japanese lanaguage commentating by a *to be announced* commentator.

$178,000: Alternate Characters x 2

‘Ura’ (alternate) versions of Kou and Hanzo with different move sets will be added.

$194,000: Alternate Characters x 2

Ura versions of Jyuzumaru and Hina with different move sets will be added.

$210,000: Alternate Characters x 2

Ura versions of Shimo and Jet with different move sets will be added.

$226,000: Alternate Characters x 2

Ura versions of Chadha and Crow with different move sets will be added.

$246,000: FIGS Localization

French, Italian, German, and Spanish language localizations.

$266,000: Limited Edition Physical Comic

A limited edition, physical Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm comic, created by the publisher of the Street Fighter comic series, Udon Entertainment.

$316,000: NESiCAxLive Special Version

If we reach this stretch goal, we’ll add a host of new features that take advantage of the NESiCAxLive system and release it as a special version.

Presently the development team members work for zero pay, but any funding received in access of the stretch goals will be allocated to their development expenses and toward promoting the worldwide release of Yatagarasu Attack on Catacylsm. With the additional funding, you can expect even more quality and volume in Yatagarasu and it will reach even more gamers around the world.

After a bit of a journey, Nyu-Media’s Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm fundraiser has finally reach its $68,000 goal. A late flurry of donations put the campaign over its this initial figure earlier today with just three days left to gather donations. This total will allow the development team to add new characters Kotaro and Azure (pictured below), complete English localization, fund new commentary tracks (provided in part by James Chen, Maximilian, and Ultra David), and much more.

But, it’s not over yet. As many of you may already know, GGPO support was added as the fundraiser’s first stretch goal shortly after the campaign began. This will be a key component in helping the game’s online community thrive, especially in regions outside of Japan. The new goal that lies ahead for fans of the title is $73,000, which as of this writing is a little less than $4000 away, so be sure to visit their official Indiegogo page for more information on the project and what you can do to help during these last few days.

      You can’t copyright a mythical creature. The only case you could make is if there was another FIGHTING game called Yatagarasu.

      For instance, Yatagarasu was the villain in Ace Attorney Investigations, no lawsuit there. The “three-legged crow” is used in tons and tons of anime/manga. You may as well say “you can’t make a game called Unicorn anything.”

    I kid. I’m just testing the waters to see if the moral guardians and Max’s defense force are flying this site nearby, like last time.

    It’s awesome the game has finally reached his initial goal. It’s really worth it, and groups like KusogeKings and NyuMedia have really put up an effort to let people know the game in-depth. Huge props to them for that.

      There less than 3k away with 2 days left. They might have the momentum to do it. I wasn’t sure if they would hit that GGPO mark, but they got a hell of a rush and did it.

    I doubt it’ll reach any of the good stretch goals… I guess Skullgirls bankrupted too much of the FGC for us to throw as much at this deserving game?

    • Well, the game isn’t as advertized oversees at it is in Japan, and the current English version distributed by Rice Digital isn’t very friendly to use. It doesn’t even have built in keyboard config, or instructions on how to manually do so, which is bizarre since this is a pc native game. No contact info or online resources either.

      Then there’s the fact that this didn’t have a console release, which Skullgirls did, and yeah, you can see why the discrepancy in fanbase size.

    What strikes me as incredibly wrong is that games like this are being built from the ground up with online in mind (well, I guess arcade was priority) but they don’t seem to care about the online quality. You’d think GGPO would be included on day 1 of the initial design concept if it’s going to be on consoles.
