Team NINJA has revealed further details on the pre-order incentives for the upcoming Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate. Depending on where they pre-order, players will get a different set of Pop Idol costumes for certain characters.

Players who pre-order from GameStop will receive the J-Pop costumes for Kasumi and Ayane and “bad girl” costumes for Momiji, Rachel, Tina, Christie, Helena, and Lisa. Players who pre-order from Amazon on the other hand will receive schoolgirl costumes for Kokoro, Leifang, Hitomi, and Mila. You can check out these costumes in the gallery below.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be available in stores on September 3, 2013. A free to play version called Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters will also be available for PSN only.

  • Not that I don’t see nothing wrong with this but I wished they would bring some of the old costumes back from DOA4 or such. There is one specific one from DOA4 I want for Helena (the one that looks like a tailcoat swimsuit).

  • Pooh Hardy

they really are milking this for a quick buck arent they?
costumes, costumes, they all look the same but buy them anyway
    how about some more costumes
    these costumes are sexy
    these costumes are cute
costumes costumes , even some costumes for the men
    COSTUMES!!!! BUY OUR DLC
WE’LL KEEP SPAMMING THESE OUT UNTILL YOU BUY THEM

    • o ChocolateMilk o

      *cough cough* injustice *cough cough*

    • d3v

You do realize that these are pre-order incentives right?

  • Zonnex

I’m not pre-ordering squat until Team Ninja added an Upgrade patch or Upgrade DLC for Ps3, 360 and Vita owners. Like what happened with Super Strreet Fighter IV and BlazBlue Continuum Shift when they release an upgrade patch for their games.

    • gun_vanguard02

You mean like buying a downloadable upgrade, as opposed to buying a
brand new disc? I’m with you on that one. Or just make DOA5 Ultimate
downloadable on release day for people who don’t have the game at all
      (like me).

      • Antonio C. R. Murray

Will be available as a Digital version in addition to the Core Fighters Free-To-Play.

    • MasterScrub

IIRC They said it’s a new game and not a patch because they completely overhauled the netcode or something.

I don’t really follow DOA so I’m not 100% sure if I’m correct about that, but I remember reading it somewhere.

    • spades111

hmm guess you didn’t realize that SF4 went to SSF4 and Blazblue went from CS2 to CS Extend both as disc only option as the updates ere considered significantly too big or too difficult to code as an online upload only. Team Ninja’s just going through the same thing

      • Zonnex

You guessed wrong. Unless you want me to add SNES SFII to Turbo to Super? I didn’t mention SFIV and Blazblue ’cause I thought some folks already knew that. Sorry the flame. I just love fighting games and had to use Super IV and Blazblue as an example.

        • spades111

lol yeah i see that. just saying they’re still not fair examples.

for all we know doa5.03 will be a dlc update….doubt it but they deserve just as much of a chance as ssf4 and bb

    • Antonio C. R. Murray

The new Power Launcher mechanic for one is something that can’t be added via DLC. Its the same as with 2010’s Super Street Fighter IV when Capcom added dual Ultras.

  • Simply Chun-believeable ^_~ ♥♥

Kokoro and Leifang!! ♥ But Mila though… idk, it looks weird on Mila, kinda like its too feminine for her or something. Mila and Momiji should switch imo.

    • spades111

i think its the color messing her over… actually the whole school girl thing is off to… but the color is definitely a big problem. should have at least given her lei fangs

  • Anjon

No costumes for men? Even TTT2 had some sexy man-kinis. Give me a speedo for Bass or something. Flash a little sack for all the ladies, Team Ninja.

    • Guest

And for the dudes. I wish that Bass had proper chest hair like Craig Marduk

      • Andrew St. Andrew

Not all men have hairy chests.

  • zedk8

These costumes are nice and all, but the male characters should have more costumes as well. How about an unmasked Ryu?

  • Cylith

My gamestop keeps saying I can’t pre-order because it isn’t in their system for the past week. Even today when I saw this announcement, they said the same thing.

    • d3v

I don’t have a GameStop near me so I can’t check, but I’m guessing this is due to some delay with the locals store’s system being updated.

When I was studying advertising, teachers warned me to avoid using “assvertising” too much. You want people to buy the product, that one which is wrapped up in femenine appealings and smiles, at the end you are buying the girl, not the game.

DoA franchise with this move is just obvious and desperate… as it always had been.
