Further news from Capcom’s Evo 2013 panel: the company just announced that the next update to Street Fighter IV will include five new characters. Fan-favorites Rolento, Elena, Hugo, and Poison will be making their way to the title, as well as an unannounced fifth fighter that has never been seen in Street Fighter before.
These five new characters, as well as six new stages and a whole host of balance changes, will be heading to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC at a price of $15. Release date details will be announced early next year. (Correction: This update will be released in the early part of 2014.)
UPDATE – The update’s name (which will not be Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2013) and an official trailer will be revealed before tomorrow’s AE 2012 finals, so stay tuned!
UPDATE 2 – We recently uploaded a video of Capcom’s full announcement, which also included details about a few of the balance changes included in the game and more. Buying this update will net you all the previously released costume packs, and players of both Super Street Fighter IV and the updated Arcade Edition will be able to add this new content to their game.
In addition, you will receive special costumes designed by Udon for each new character if you preorder the game. It will also see a release on the NESiCAxLive arcade network in Japan, with a release date to be determined.
