    SF Origins: Akuma

      SF Origins: Akuma > X-Men Origins: Wolverine

    I hate that they refer to him as Akuma in this. I’d be fine with using that name after he unleashes the Satsui no Hado, but as a child who doesn’t even know martial arts yet, he still is called Akuma? A name that is actually banned in Japan? Believe it or not we Americans will not have our heads explode in confusion if they just call him Gouki until his transformation.

  • Richard N

    Reminds me of those crappy Legends spinoff they had, that for whatever reason focused on the hot girl characters.

    • RunningWild1984

      Chun’s dad could throw fireballs and bodied Sagat

  • RomanceHD

    I’ve always wondered why Gouki has always been so mad, but I will be buying this. I already see Gouken and Retsu at least I think thats Retsu.. hopefully Shenlong can make an appearance

    • SalomeHarras

      This is a common misconception. Gouki isn’t actually “mad” most of the time, he is just perceived that way. If anything, Ryu has probably been angrier than Gouki has.

    For the first time ever?

    … Sooooo what ever happened to Street Fighter Alpha Generations? o_O

    • RenaTurnip

      Also okay I see it features Ralf Jones and some iteration of Snake. Cool :1

    • Joel Anderson

      Hopefully this won’t be a retelling of that lame shit.

  • Asaid AieezyOle Falah

    Akuma is my favorite Cacpcom character since i was 6 (im 20 now) im def gettin this

    • A fav of mine since I was 12 (I’m 34 now).

  • Amperture

    I don’t think I want this.

    Akuma is more fun assuming he’s just this massive ball of evil incarnate and has always been that way.

    Trying to make Akuma into an Anakin Skywalker story I think will ruin his character, and I feel like that is exactly where they will take this:

    Akuma = Anakin
    Goutetsu = Obi-wan
    Ryu = Luke/Leia
    and Amidala will be a new character made up for the comics.

    • SalomeHarras

      Gouki is not actually “evil” and never really has been. Gouki is simply the kind of character where he feels the ends justifies the means and that you should embrace power and martial arts for what he feels they’re actually for, rather than dress it up in some kind of idealistic nonsense.

  • Sir_Krackalot

    Because Akuma’s name was always Akuma, and that’s totally a real name given to real Japanese kids.

    • SalomeHarras

      Akuma is his western name, his actual name is Gouki…

    • Voldom

      Ridiculous…”Street Fighter Origins”………………..
      pffffffffffffffffffftt 1st) this is a japanese videogame and the name
      of that rag doll is Gouki not “Akuma” 2nd) this is a stupid videogame,
      and not “comic” material..so story must be dull as hell…

  • Dat Azure

    – ‘Akuma’. I have a hard time believing that his parents would name their own, beloved son ‘Demon’, unless they absolutely hated him. Just doesn’t make any sense.

    – TOO. MUCH. SMILING. I mean, it might play into his character development, having him become the stoic ‘Nio’ bastard we all know and love later on, but it just doesn’t look right. Akuma is not supposed to have evil grins like that. Makes him look like some meniacal comic book villain; like Bison or something.

    – Akuma is far too disciplined and arrogant in the future to have started off as how he is depicted in the Comic. Personally, I think they should have just went with Akuma being the aloof, serious, highly disciplined, and ruthless brother and Gouken being the more compassionate and friendly brother.

    • SalomeHarras

      Again, Akuma is his western name, his actual name is Gouki. Capcom probably did this originally to simplify his personality and make him easier to understand from a western perspective. He was created, after all, in the SF II era, and those characters weren’t exactly known for their narrative depth.
