On a side note, Seth Killian was very, very good at commentating MvC2. GJ 🙂

    • When did they run MvC2?

      • Thomas

First thing on the stream, I believe. Was some buy-in tournament ish, with FlashMetroid, Mike Ross, so on. Not because the gameplay in itself was amazing, but Seth Killian was doing great at explaining it to newbies. A pleasent experience.

  • Pussycontrol1234

The scheduling on this tournament was dumb as shit.

Injustice and SFxT at the same time in the morning.

SF4AE at noon and then mystery game bullshit all evening till MvC3.

    Incredibly fucking tedious to watch.

    • windsagio

On one hand, it’s keits tournament to do what he wants with.

On the other hand, goddamn you’re right. I get that he wants to promote his game and is willing to hurt the tournament to put it front and center. What I don’t get is mystery game becoming bigger and bigger and bigger.

Or maybe I Totally do. He’s just one of those guys that can’t leave a simple, fun thing alone, but has to Peter Principle it to death.

      • Jake Long

I don’t know. Personally, I’m fine with AE/Marvel not being the main events every time out. It helps to make tournaments different from each other. I’d rather watch/participate in CEO and UFGT9 with different priorities instead of “Fighting Game Tournament in Orlando” and “Fighting Game Tournament in Chicago.” Besides, even if it’s not on last, Mystery Game is UFGT’s thing, like Tekken at Final Round or the 5-on-5s at Canada Cup.

        • windsagio

Marvel still gets top billing though, of course :p

I dunno, I love the mystery game thing, but dude always takes it too far.

If it’s a case of ‘the people who actually attend love it!’ that trumps everything… but somehow I suspect even people in the room aren’t too thrilled about 2 hours of dudes sucking at mystery game followed by 2 hours of pimping Divekick any more than we are.

          • Kieth Weinberger

and you clearly weren’t in the room because we were more hype for the mystery tournament finals than Marvel top 8.

So, Chris G top 8, Chris G #1, Chris G #1, Chris G #1, Chris G top 8 in five different fighting games and people still want to question his legitimacy as a top player? Soulfisting isn’t as easy as it looks, and placing top 8 in 5 different fighting games from multiple developers is kinda crazy good. Keep the beast mode on Chris G, though I kinda wished KaneBlueRiver woulda stomped ya.

Am I allowed to hate missiles instead?

  • MortalKomment

I couldn’t wake up in time for Injustice.

  • UseProtection

The best part of the tournament was Banana Ken’s Persona 4 Arena instant kill win.

  • Craig Baker

I usually watch most of the finals but after injustice at 9:30 and some random shit game after that I just missed everything else. Oh well, hopefully next tourny does like ect did with ae, injustice, and marvel to end the night. The top8 for those are all I care about

    • BlackMasamune

And that’s why I am glad at least one tourney refuses to be a slave to stream monsters like you.

      • Art Salmons

Yeah, why anyone want to show the games people want to see most at logical convenient times? It’s way better to be a cool rebel and stick it to the man by doing things your own way.

      • windsagio

So do you get an official ‘water carrier’ t-shirt for your work?

  • Grant L.

@MyLifeIsAnRPG: I was looking to see results for mystery game and noticed that you put Kurumster for both a 3rd and a 9th place spot in persona, when I actually am in that 9th place spot. Just wanted to let you know; you had a lot of stuff to record, so don’t worry about it :p

    • USD

I was actually responsible the results. Sorry for the mistake, it’s been corrected.

  • JayFingas

man, Chris G placing top in all the games. Jesus.

  • gigantor21

    LETHAL LEAUGE!

  • Jason Slade

There was no reason not to put the mystery game tournament on Stream 2.

KOF13 and SFxT top 8 deserves main stream status.

Also 2 and a half hours of Divekick in a row was too much. I get that he wants to promote his game but I stopped watching half way though the top 16 because it just dragged on too long. Top 8 Divekick would have been great. Top 16 is excessive.

  • TwilightInZero

2D FGC, why do you hate Soul Calibur so much? We had a grand total of two setups the whole time, and no results representation whatsoever on this post. Not to mention the tournament ran in the wrong format; 2/3 sets as opposed to the community standard 3/5. You wouldn’t run Marvel 2/3, don’t do it to us just because we’re magnitudes less popular! BaraBariBall was treated better than we were!! Don’t get me wrong, I like me some BBB, but for it to get better treatment than Soul Calibur? No, fuck that!

    • windsagio

They needed the time for Divekick.

    • USD

The results recorded above are based on stream footage and/or available bracket information. For whatever reason, SCV wasn’t streamed to my knowledge, so I don’t have any results information. If you have the information or know someone with the information, I would gladly add it to the results above.

      • TwilightInZero

That’s fair enough. And you’re right, SCV wasn’t streamed. It had time on the schedule… that is, top 4 only at 9 AM Sunday. Not exactly great real estate, or motivation to get up that early. More of SCV getting the shit end of the stick. I’m not so much miffed about the results not being up as much as I am that SCV was basically a third-class citizen at UFGT.

Anyways, the top 4 elected to just finish out the tournament on the spot. Here are the results:

        1. LostProvidence (Viola, Patroklos, Alpha Patroklos, Pyrrha)
        2. ARU`ThuggishPuddle (Voldo)
        3. MateoGalvin (Mitsurugi)
        4. FenrisZero (Mitsurugi)
        5. Thermidor (Nightmare)
        5. Unwieldly (Pyrrha Omega)
        7. MysticBill (Natsu)
        7. ??? (Maxi)

The other 7th place guy’s handle ended with 53 but I don’t remember the rest of it.

        • Kieth Weinberger

Neither of my EX tournaments were streamed at the last two UFGT tournaments, you don’t hear me complaining. But time slots and amount of casual stations were seemingly decided based on turnout. SFxT, Injustice and SCV all got worse turnouts than mystery and dive kick. So blame your own community for not showing up and shooting yourself in the foot.

          • I could be mistaken, but I believe that Injustice had more people turn out or very close to the same numbers as Divekick.

          • Kieth Weinberger

Counting the pool assignments shows 153 people for divekick, Mystery had 126, and 160 for IJ, so I stand corrected. 34 for SCV, and 94 for SFxT. So my point stands for 2 of the 3 games. and I stand corrected on IJ. Of course this is not counting last minute registrations which only Keits and his crew would know for sure. Baring that in mind, then I would agree that IJ should have had a better time slot. Meanwhile SFxT and SCV have no right to complain.

          • I’m not speaking to timeslots, only to the numbers for the individual games registered. =)

          • Kieth Weinberger

So then an unreleased indy satire of a fighting game nearly got as many entries as the newest FG around.

          • That’s much closer to being quantifiable, I approve.

          • Kieth Weinberger

According to the staff, the final counts with late entries were,
            SSF4 – 218
            UMvC3 – 209
            DK – 181
            Inj – 179
            MYST – 128 capped
            BBB – 125 capped
            SFxT – 103
            KoF – 78
            TTT2 – 74
            P4A – 64
            MK9 – 61
            SG – 44
            VS – 42
            SC5 – 38
