Evo 2013 is Looking for Tournament Judges!

By on March 13, 2013 at 3:35 pm

Ever wanted to help judge an Evo tournament?  This is your chance!  Once again, we’re recruiting volunteer judges to help us run Evo 2013 this July.  Evo would not run nearly as smoothly as it does without the stellar work of our Volunteer Judges every year.  It’s hard work, but not without it’s rewards.  From the application form…

The Tournament Judge role is a volunteer position and hard work, but there are still some great perks. We provide lunch and dinner vouchers for all judges on Friday and Saturday and judges receive an official Tournament Judge T-shirt. Judges will also be allowed entry to the tournament hall in advance of general admission for the Sunday Finals and receive priority seating. Applicants should be familiar with a double-elimination bracket and have a passion for competitive gaming.

If you’re interested, please fill out an application here.

I’d so do it if I could go 🙁

Pay me travel fees and I’ll definitely do it 😛

    • Agreed.  Fly my broke ass to Evo and I’ll gladly judge!

  • I’m not applying, but can you be from out of the country?  I hope to one day attend Evo, but I wouldn’t mind being a volunteer judge.

Out of the country is fine, as long as you don’t mind wrangling mostly Americans who primarily only speak English.

      • Americans don’t scare me, and I speak English. 🙂  I’m from Canada.

If I can make the trip to Evo this year, this is something that I would love to do, regardless of the perks.

  • Can you judge for one tournament and play in another that is scheduled at a time not during the one you judge?

    • Generally, yes, they will generally try and accommodate your bracket(s). However, they like to have a judge be consistent at a station (at least, that’s my experience, having run multiple brackets simultaneously for 8+ hours straight at Evo), so if your brackets span the entire day, they might not be able to fit you in. But always ask!
