By on February 27, 2013 at 11:50 am

With the release of Darkstalkers Resurrection growing closer and closer every day, a couple of outlets recently produced content on the bundle to show people what it’s all about. First off, the folks over at Giant Bomb put together a nice Quick Look that runs through the game’s single-player, multi-player, and tutorial modes.

Continuing their tutorial series, Capcom’s Haunts and Combofiend released their first character breakdown video. Here, you’ll find some basic information and strategy for Lilith in Darkstalkers 3.

Darkstalkers Resurrection will be available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 beginning March 12th and 13th, respectively.

I’m not saying that Gerstmann or Navarro are necessarily guilty of this, but watching them play reminds me of something. For years, I would read EGM or GMR or whatever print publication for videogames, before the rise of faster and more widely available internet connections put them out of business. And I would always roll my eyes when they would declare certain fighting games as being “the deepest” of the genre. Or worse, they would claim certain games lacked “depth,” without ever defining what they meant by that statement. And I just knew that these guys had to suck at these games and had no business making such bold declarations. And now, unlike 10-15 years ago, every time a new fighting game is released we get to see video of these reviewers actually playing the games and they almost always seem to lack understanding of the most basic fundamentals of any game they are playing.

The only reviewer I can recall having a decent grasp of the genre and what it takes to play these games at a higher level was Richard Li from 1up. And he never made such statements because he knew better.

Sorry to vomit all of this here. But, I guess my point is that I some how feel validated. Which is silly, I know.

I remember reading a Gamepro review of Virtua Fighter 3tb in 1999, where they gave it a terrible overall score and made comments like “the characters float like human-sized pieces of styrofoam”. LOL

  • lol, they hated the filter but I didn’t saw anything strange…

Is custom color mode in this?

  • When they said they’d want to see Darkstalkers revived in a different art-style, I immediately felt a sharp pain in my testicles.  Why even make it then?

if enough people buy this we might get darkstalkers 4!
