I want to play Persona because PQube refuse to release it.

    • I guess the reason I want a copy of Persona is because a friend desperately wants me to get into a different sort of fighting games. I started on Guilty Gear, moved through BlazBlue and finally found myself really enjoying SF4 and UMvC3 but ever since then I’ve not been able to get into anime fighters again so much. I feel like every fighting game I play, I develop a love for each individual character in. I particularly enjoy learning Marvel for all the familiar characters but I found myself enjoying games like Guilty Gear for the sake I had to learn to love the characters. I think persona might be a game I might enjoy to re-kindle my love for fighting games and be something I can share with my friend. I’m a poor college student after all. I don’t have the money to go out buying games and keeping up with the scene so I feel like this would be extremely appreciated. Thanks for the opportunity!@SRK – Forums as VUU†DUU

I love all fighting game even though I’m not gud. please send me one. love u guys

  • Despite the lack of buttons in the game (4 buttons) the creativity with the buttons makes the game simple yet complicated at the same time. When it comes to fighting games one should be interested in their game and this point has drawn my attention. In addition the Persona series has been a nice ride so far so playing the sequel to P4 would be nice (despite going from RPG to fighting game).

  • I want this game, because I feel it has a wide variety of strategy and combo potential. The designs of the characters, as well as the color concepts are magnificent. The roster is very different from other games, and has a very unique element to it. The game when I played it was very fun, and didn’t get boring after playing through for an hour.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Persona 4 RPG at present. I was holding out until I completed the game to pick-up the P4A as I didn’t want to have any spoilers. As I long time fighting game fan (from Art of fighting 1 to Virtuafighter FS) I can only see great things in P4A and look forward to playing it soon.

  • I’d really like to get a copy of this game. The artwork and characters are beautiful. The gameplay seems to be very fun and would be nice to pick up while taking a break from Street Fighter. I’ve only played it a handful of times but it was a really fun game to play with my friends. Thanks!

Love Persona as a franchise, but never had patience to play the RPGs. I always, always watched a friend play it and I would MST3K the crap out of it. P4A is a game that I’d actually be happy to play beyond just enjoying the story.

Ive been playing Persona 4 Golden the entire week and GOD this game is addictive.
And of course this make me curious about how fun a Persona 4 fighting game could be.

I mean, Chie-chan and her love for karate movies like “Trial of the dragon”, shes perfect for a fighting game.

PS: Is any of the stages of the Persona 4, Junes ?

I love Persona and want to spread that love to others.

  • For me art style is always number one when it comes to games, especially fighting games. Its why i gravitate toward “anime” style fighting games rather than “realistic” looking ones. SkullGirls, Blazblue, Guilty Gear all have that anime art style that i like, but Persona 4’s is just so unique, the characters, stages and animations are all beautifully made. Its weird praising a FIGHTING game for its art style but hey, i leik art :p

I am a young player in the fgc. By that, I mean the age of not in college, in high school actually. I’ve loved fighting games ever since I got into vanilla MVC3 in middle school (I can still remember the days of using simple controls with Tron, Deadpool, and Arthur). Nowadays, I’m basically trying to at least play all the fighting games I can get my hands on. Just to name a few, I have UMVC3, SSF4AE, SFXT, the SSBB series, KOF 13, and PSABR. The one fighting game I’ve been most cautious and curious at the same time to play is Persona 4. I feel that this is the perfect time for me to get to be able to try a new fighting game. By the way, I really, REALLY wan’t to start going to tournaments, but I don’t have much time because of school, but i’m going to try to go to EVO this year. Getting further off topic, the reason I want to compete in tournaments is just for the competition, not the expectation that i’m going to win anything. But anyway, PS4A is a fighting that i’m very interested in trying, and it would be awesome of you guys to give me a code.

    Thank you for your time,

I’ve always wanted to play a game by Arc System Works, but I was too young to really understand BlazBlue or Guilty Gear, and Persona 4 Arena is the first game where I love the characters and the fighting mechanics. The game is beautiful, the online is amazing, and the mechanics are well thought-out and impressive. I really want this game because it’s one of the most impressive fighting games I’ve seen this millenium, and it stars characters I love, and I want to support the P4A community however I can!

I want to play persona 4 arena mainly because it looks like a hilariously fun game. honestly I really wanna use the character Teddy if I remember his name correctly, who swings the giant bat and throws missiles! He seems like ALOT of fun! It looks like there is already a great community of FGC players playing, and I would love to join them. The best part of persona 4 is the vivid graphics and fast paced gameplay! I really like the change in pace compared to SF4 which is like fighting on the moon!

Well, I certainly hope I am one of the lucky ones that gets to try out your great looking game!
if not congrats to the lucky 25 players and I hope you enjoy the game it looks like alot of fun!

I’ve been playing Persona 4 Golden on PS Vita recently and I’m really enjoying the Persona 4 characters. I didn’t had a chance to play Persona 4 Arena but I liked the system mechanics more than SF4 and looking forward to an EVO 2013 official game.

  • Exy

I want to play it because I’m doing a university project about hand-drawn 2D animation in video games and this would be good for context.

  • I’ve only really started getting big into fighting games when Marvel 3 came out. I’ve always liked them, but they’ve become central to my video game hobbies. I’ve bought an arcade stick, and gone on to play UMvC3, SSF4:AEv.2012, SCV, Skullgirls, and even a little KoFXIII.

I played P4A the day it came out because someone brought it in to the local arcade and I wanted to give it a shot. I had read up on a few characters, and I wanted to try Akihiko because of his dodge-attacks. I thought ducking, bobbing, and weaving through such an offense-driven game would be awesome. I got bodied playing as him, but managed to hold my own playing Mitsuru and Aigis. All three characters are incredibly fun.

I haven’t played the game since. I didn’t know anyone really interested in getting competitive with the game, so I didn’t feel like it’d be worth getting for very long.

Then recently, a friend of mine on the other side of the country started playing it and talking about it because she’s been a long-time fan of the Persona RPG series. I’d tried to get her into UMvC3 before, but the fast-paced, unforgiving style of the game deterred her from playing for long, plus she’s never been big on 2D fighters anyway. With P4A, though, there are characters that she’s familiar with, so she wants to do well with them and play the game. That’s reason enough to pique my interest in the game once again, and I was actually planning on getting the game at the end of this month. If I could get it through this giveaway, however, that would be fantastic!

To sum up, I want to get this game so I have another way to connect with a friend of mine. Perhaps it will help ease her into other fighting games, and bring more appreciation to the technical side of fighting game competition. What I’m trying to say is this: I want to play Persona 4 Arena for the hype!

  • I’m an avid fighting-game player, but I’m also a fan of good RPGs. Persona is definitely a very good RPG franchise, and I want to see/experience for myself how they converted an RPG into a fighting game. The concept is very innovative and, although many people hate on the game, it seems like it’s a very interesting scene change from the branded Capcom games (i.e AE 2012, UMvC3 and SFXT).

  • I’d really like to get P4A because 1.) it’s at EVO this year, and I plan
on going, 2.) I really enjoyed the Persona series on PS1/2, and 3.)
it’s of the same vein of fighters like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. The
visuals on the game look really amazing, and the action seems fast
paced. Between crisp animations and stylish combos, I’d love to own and
play this game. The story mode seems really interesting too, and it’s
nice to see fighting game devs add more playability to their games in
this manner. I personally hope ArcSys and Atlus team up for more games
of this sort, be it another P4A game or stepping into the realm of other
SMT universes. It’s nice to see SRK giving this game some much-needed
love and sharing said love. I’m excited to see what EVO will bring for
    P4A!

I recently became a fan of persona 4 after picking up the vita port of the original rpg. I am an army AIT student, and I’ll need all the games to keep me occupied during off duty hours (after studying, of course.) I’m eager to play P4A because I play Blazblue regularly and I wanna see how it will transition into P4A.

  • I want to play Persona 4 Arena because I want to prove to the world that there’s only one thing in it’s entirety that truly matters, that being what it means to be a true man. Some would say honor, some would say courage, some would chivalry. But no, they’d be wrong. What truly makes a man is a badass with a chair that tosses people around like rag dolls, while summoning lightning just by yelling. I want to show the world the power of The Bloodcurdling Beefcake Emperor.

Persona 4 Arena looks like an extremely fun game to play and the art style just looks amazing. This is a game I really don’t want to see go away in the competitive scene.

When my parents came to this country all they had was ten shillings and copy of Persona 4 Ultimate Arena. Not even a console to play it on! My father got a job as a lowly tournament organizer and on one fateful day had our only copy stolen! What made matters worse is everyone tried to convince our family that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was a better game — a better life! My family was not convinced we would rather be poor and game-less than have to deal with random Wolverine’s and Wesker’s. However, we continued to soldier on, hoping to have our copy returned to us. I worked for three summers just to afford a refurbished 20 gig PS3. Now I wish upon the brightest star in the sky that I will be able to bufudyne poor souls to endless KO’s and restore my families legacy.

I’ve played this game before, and it’s fantastic. I hope it’s not to my detriment to my eligibility for saying this, but I actually already have the Xbox version. I would love to have the PS3 version because pretty much all of my friends have this game for PS3. Being a broke college student, and buying a PS3 only recently, I don’t have a lot of money left over to spend on a PS3 version of P4A.

    I’m hoping to be able to netplay with my friends and other PSN folks. I’m also ready to play through Labrys’ story again. Labrys pls. ;_;

See you other 24 winners on netplay maybe!

I would personally want to win P4A because I’m a huge fan of Atlus, specifically the SMT series. And I’m not just talking about Persona, but the whole SMT series, other spin-offs of SMT (such as  DemiKids, Devil Survivor, Imagine included.) I’ve put in dozens and dozens of hours into my SMT series so far. Games like Strange Journey, P4, P3, DemiKids Dark, and more, all strike a pleasurable code with me. I personally can’t wait to add SMT4 for the 3DS to my list of adored JRPGs, along side the DDS series, Soul Hackers, and Nocturne (I missed this one.)

I’m a (wannabe) game designer. I am going to college for Simulation and Game Programming and when I graudate, I’ll be going back to college for a degree in Game Design, and I would love nothing but to make my own games when I get out of the military (US Navy). I play dozens and dozens of fighting games with the intent and purpose of not only enjoying myself but learning more and more about fighting games so that when I make my own, I’ll be like Mike Z, and be able to release a game that’s solid and great.

Like I’ve played and studied so many fighting games, and even some obscure and/or unique ones as well. (Sonic the Fighters, MONSTER, Fighting Vipers, Karnov’s Revenge, just to name a few.)

Having P4A would help me in the sense I’ll have another game to play, enjoy, and learn from. being able to spend time with the game would not only give me insight into the devs of the game, but would also let me find the numerous P4 references I know Atlus has littered into the game, AND it would allow me to connect to the P4A community more than I have due to a lack of understanding of P4A in particular, allowing me to further understand the P4A’s design from a competitive fighting game perspective, allowing me to make a better fighting game in the future. The only reason why I havnt bought the game is because I haven’t had the extra money to spare for P4A. Outside of Ni No Kuni, I havnt had the spare change to buy a new game in months. (Being an E3 does not pay as much as one would think heh)

Like I could buy the game used, but I dont want my money to go to the store, I’d rather my money go to Atlus and Arc System since they make great games. This is actually my MAIN reason for always buying games full priced.

Being given a game directly from Atlus themselves would win me over more as a fan than I already am too. This give away is a good indication of how much Atlus USA likes their fans so it’d be awesome to be one of those lucky Atlus fans that Atlus likes so much. If it’s not that, it’s at least a great testament to how legit Atlus USA’s PR department is.

Outside of all that, I don’t have much more to say, I can only hope I win, and good luck to everyone else.

OH. I know that P4A’s story is canon and connects P3 and P4 together, so I’d like to know how that happened and what is the result since S. Labyrs is like one of those characters that was barely glossed over, even in the Persona 3(?) audio CD. I don’t spoil stories of games that I’m interested in haha, so I havn’t looked it up either. What kind of hardcore JRPG fan would I be to spoil a game’s story for myself by looking it up online?

I have been a fan of Anime style media ever since i first watched Bubble Gum Crisis back in the day. It has kind of grown on me and i really enjoy how much depth of detail is put into making characters alive and believable. It`s kind of crazy how much work and sweat these artists put into their creations. It`s sad that today you see less and less artists that dare to come up with a twist on their design in terms of visual prowlence aswell as in characcter depth. I definetly love Atlus for dishing out so many great games in the past.(Yes i love JRPG`s) The fact that each end every take on a game they released was a breath of fresh air due to the huge variety in character and lore. I`d love to get my hands on P4A just to be able to figure out what connects the last two previous Persona series together and how the established characters would react with each other. Can`t wait for more Atlus RPG`s in the Future. (Please bring back Digital Devil Saga)

  • I want this Persona 4 Arena because ever since I tried it, it got me back into the J-RPG genre. It made me want to play all the Persona games and several other Shin Megami Tensei games. I even listened to all the soundtracks from the Persona series non-stop and it became integrated into my life. To “Burning My Dread” to relieve stress to “Reaching Out to the Truth” if need be: “I’ll Face Myself.” I even bought Persona 4 Golden even though I do not own a Playstation Vita. I even indulged myself into the Devil Survivor series, as it combines old school SMT demon summoning with modern technology. I am very intrigued Atlus and I thank you for PERSONA-lizing my life as it is. You have made yet another fan. I think I have yet to attain the true path towards being a true “Persona” fan, or maybe I already am.

PS: I very much love the Social Link System you have incorporated into your Persona games, and seeing that you made a fighting game such as Persona 4 Arena makes my heart melt.

There are actually quite a few reasons for me to want P4A. Firstly, I’ve heard nothing but good things about P4. The button scheme sounded a bit weird to me, but everyone that I know that’s played it called it basically said it fixed a lot of what people found wrong with BlazBlue. As a BlazBlue player, that alone already had me interested.

Secondly, I heard that the storyline was great. BlazBlue was one of the first fighting games in which it wasn’t the gameplay, but the story that got me hooked into it. Through the storyline alone did I decide on Hakumen as my main; his playstyle became my forte only after his personality captured my interest. The BB story had me hooked. I’d search NicoNico just for English arcade mode runs of CS when it first came out just to catch a glimpse of what was going on. If P4A has a story even half as intriguing as BB it would be worth owning.

Thirdly, and quite simply, the game looks amazing. Watching the few P4A matches that I did watch was nothing short of astounding. Seeing it in motion was like watching the estranged lovechild of Skullgirls and BigBangBeat in action, with mixups and assists out the wazoo and combos that can range anywhere between “oh that was quick” to “good lord he’s not even in Xfactor how is this possible”. When you watch P4A, everything looks like you had to earn it. You’re not gunna get beat all game and comeback without really putting in the hustle for it, and I like that in a game. I love UMvC3 to death, but I can’t help but sigh when an X-Factor 3 Vergil starts going Beyblade with the chasity belt and kills off of one LMH combo.

It’s because of these factors that I would like to own P4A. The fact that my PS3 is new and I have no games for it doesn’t hurt my desires either.

I really like the Persona universe in their RPG games, there’s something unique and stylish about them. This fighter containing characters from both P3 and P4 is just fabulous. I like very much that the game doesn’t sound as complicated to get into as other fighting games. So, I’d really like to give this game a go.

I’ll keep this fairly short and simple; I’m currently a proficient UMVC3 player and have been trying to pick up either SFxT or SSF4AE2012. I’ve always loved fighting games but I haven’t fully understood how to play until recently, now I’m trying to learn as much as I can and see how well different skills translate between games.
I’ve also been trying to spread my passion for fighters and I feel that developing a stronger skillset to teach others how to play will help. And I also feel that P4A will be a great game to appeal to those new to the fighting game genre.SRK Name: AiKidUNot

Why would I want to have and play Persona 4 Arena? I am a HUGE Shin Megami Tensei freak that’s why. P4A is probably the only SMT game that I’ve never played yet to this day. I’ve always played and clocked at least over 100 hours in every SMT game that I have played. When I say I’m a SMT freak, I can say that I’ve been playing SMT games from GBA to the consoles we have to today. I’ve always supported Atlus, NIS and SMT with spreading their names out, recommending people to play their games and join the epic adventures that SMT and Persona always brings to the table.

I’m also a huge fighting game fan always supporting all fighting games and never picking favorites. I always buy all the DLC I can for a game and even for games that people don’t consider a “real” fighting game. I want to also support this game and learn all the mechanics. I play all fighters and even put time into fighters where they don’t get much shine. Even games that are considered “bad” since I am a true fighting game lover/supporter. The game is beautiful as other SMT based games and I want to be a part of that world. This is Bee(Baku), signing off.

I love fighting games, I’m burnt out on Capcom’s aggressive money-grabbing techniques and their poorly paced support for their games, and, while I enjoy Ark-system’s games, Blazblue’s children characters creep me out. Persona 4 Arena looks like a perfect fit for me. Plus it’s got traditional sprites, and I’ve missed those something fierce.

  • I’ve been a fan of the Persona series ever since I played Persona 3 and I have to say I never encountered a video game like Persona. I loved everything about Persona: The music, the characters, the story, the idea of leveling up your personas via social links and most importantly the personas themselves. The concept of summoning monsters that represented your inner psyche seemed so cool to me. So as a kid who loves fighting games you can only imagine the type of reaction I had when heard Persona 4 was getting a fighting game sequel.

Persona 4 Arena is such a gorgeous looking game. The levels are cleverly designed and the character sprites look smoother than baby’s bottom. The combat is quick, fluid and fun to watch. The music is highly energetic and adds extra excitement to the game. The online looks perfect from what I’ve seen so far. The story line is amazing as expected of a Persona game and this is the only fighting game I ever played where I actually like all of the characters. Hopefully more characters such as Junpei and Yukari will get added into the roster.

Simply put, Persona 4 Arena is awesome fighting game and I feel that this game deserves more of the spotlight in the Fighting game community. I really wish more people will play this game in the future. This is why I want to play Persona 4 Arena.

I’m attending an anime convention this coming month and I’m helping set up some fighting game tournaments, and I’d love for us to have a Persona 4 Arena tourney!  Since it’s an anime convention and all, a lot of the attendees will be Persona fans, so I bet we’ll get plenty of players. It’ll definitely be a popular title from a player and specatator standpoint, since the game is so much fun to watch too.  And who knows? Maybe I can pick up some pretty cosplay chicks with my awesome fighting game skills, hahaha.

    SRK is Eseif.  If I win this, I’ll cosplay as Yu Narukami for this convention.  :}

  • I’d like to get a copy of Persona 4 Arena because I’m a huge fan of the series as whole, as well as fighting games. Now, I’m not the best fighting game player in the world but I strive to do as well as I can, and P4A’s simple controls really helps novice players to really feel more apart of something so exclusive as a fighting game community, just because it’s a lot easier to get into and feel competent at it. That really seems to  be a huge bar of entry for a lot of people is that fighting games can be difficult, but due to the nature of P4A (made for fans of the RPG), I really like how they try to break that barrier to let more people into the FGC.

Thanks a lot for the giveaway even if I don’t win as it’s a great thing to do to help others get into the game.

  • Well, I don’t have any elaborate or creative reason. I’m sure it’s quite unique enough, though. Here goes nuthin’:

I used to own the game on 360 – until my home was burglarized for $5000 + worth of stuff a week before Christmas last year. Money, hundreds of dollars worth of Christmas presents, all electronics – gone. They even took my piggy bank. P4 Arena was in the Xbox when it was stolen.

Anyways, bought Persona 4 Arena day 1 and I love it. I do desire to get the game again for my PS3 at some point (which was recovered by the police, unbelievably, due to a person with a conscience buying the system off Craigslist and realizing the hard disk had all my personal info on it – idiot that stole it didn’t wipe the drive. It would have been nice if it was my 360 since that was the system I owned all my fighting games on, and FGs are the only games I like to play, but I am grateful. My roommates and I are prosecuting in hopes that we can trace whom the seller received the PS3 from.) but money is extremely tight atm due to moving out of that neighboorhood, recently and dealing with all the expenses related with that and other things. I consider spending money on a PS3 copy often, but simply can’t afford it right now. It would be nice to have a chance to get into this game again. I’m currently forced to get my fighting game fix from SFXT of all games, due to it being the only game I ever purchased on ps3 (to be fair, the game IS fun post-update).

  • I want this free download mostly because of a personal rule I have (and a monetary condition). I’ve wanted to play this game for a while, but I don’t buy sequels before buying the game before it (persona 4). It may seem silly but story is very important to me. My favorite game genres are RPG’s and Fighters, but I like my rpg’s to have good battle mechanics and I like my fighters to have good stories.
And unfortunately I have been unable to get P4 and even if I did, myps2 is broken and the measly funds I’m getting from my part time job are going to paying for my last semester at Ga Tech (I had to borrow money just to donate during EVO the drive).

While my rule says that I cant buy the game, I have no problem with receiving it. I’ve gotten games with prequels I haven’t played from family and friends and I play them out of thanks.

So that’s my reason. It probably wont make sense to most people, but that’s the kind of gamer I am.

I used to work as a video game tester and one of the fun things that happens at work was the fighting games we played on breaks.  Just before quitting the job (to finally transfer from a community college to a university) Persona 4 Arena came out.  After seeing the game played for one of our 15 minute breaks I was hooked.  For for my last few days there I borrowed a friends copy and tried to learn Elizabeth, even though I was told she’s a hard character to learn the mechanics of the game with.  But Elizabeth’s card wielding spoke to me as a Magic: the Gathering player and judge.  After I left that job, I haven’t played P4A since.  Every once in a while youtube suggests a P4A video for me to watch and I think I love the graphics of the game just as much.  Thanks for the contest.

I also then told these same people who were riding with me how they should be interested in the game because of the GLORIOUS art style and the messages you could find in the game.

Nice!  I have the game and I play it when I have time, but with this particular fighting game, there’s no one else in my circle of friends that has it.  So, I have no real drive to play it at a higher level than I do now.

Getting my friends to buy this game would be a tough sell, admittedly.  They like fighting games, but don’t have the patience for learning to play them at a level I would deem…uh…competent. There are a couple I know, that would be willing to play it if they had access to the game.  The simple controls should keep them engaged, the style of the game is attractive enough and I know if they and I play together, we can help each other improve and develop enough nerve to tackle the online arena and the heavily-upgraded skill set of the tourney-goers.

So, I figure, I try winning the code for my friends, so that at least one of them can play at their leisure and improve to a point in which they’d want to challenge me, later.  From my experience, P4A is a sweet game that I’m proud to have in my collection.  I would definitely welcome an easy way to get a copy to my friends’ hands so that I can have more incentive to play.

I’d like to play Persona 4 Arena because, on some level, I want to try out every fighting game, no matter how good or bad they may seem, and because I love sitting down with something new and breaking apart the game engine to find out how combos work and why; where the limits are and what I can do to reach them.

More importantly to me than combo systems, though, P4A is one of the only fighting games my best friend actually plays, and with the way things are financially for me I’ve simply not been able to ever get my hands on it after all the time it’s been out. I’m -still- not able to do so, as too many things hang over my head in life to really consider buying games anymore, and I’d be overjoyed one day to be able to surprise that friend with that kind of reveal. I love surprising people close to me with good things, good news, and such, but this one in particular would be very special to me, and it would bring the two of us a lot of good times and smiles together. It would really make me happy.

  • The day I’ve heard that Atlus and Arc Systems teamed up to make a Persona 4 fighting game, I knew it would be as epic as a dragon cross breeding with a phoenix. Ever since the day of release, the numerous videos of character technology and tournament matches still
impresses me today. As a long time viewer of the Persona 4 Arena tournaments, I would definitely love to get my hands on a copy of this game. I have cherished the fighting game genre since I was a mere child and had to tip toe to see the screen of the arcade cabinet. Due to my everlasting love of the Persona franchise, I know that this game is right up my rally. I am a huge fan of all of the Persona games, the original soundtrack, and anime series. It saddens me that there are not enough Kanji players in the Persona 4 Arena community and he is such an awesome character. Who cares if he is low tier? Kanji beats people up with a folding chair, this brings me back to the good old days of Jerry Springer and World Wrestling Federation.

I am also sick and tired of seeing so many Mitsuru and Yu players in tournaments. If I get a copy of this game, I would certainly devote my time to becoming one of the best Kanji players out there. I would have bought a copy of Persona 4 Arena myself but all my finances are currently tied to my college education. If I was given this game, I would be extremely grateful and play it as much as all the other fighting games I own. Till this day, I still play SF4:AE, UMVC3, Skullgirls, and Blazblue. From time to time I also still play 3rd Strike, MVC2, and Marvel Origins. In my opinion, fighting games never loses their value because you can play them for years on end and still not mastered them. I have tuned in to the midnight channel and will continuously come back to check in the velvet room, so please add this game to my collection.

My dream is to play Persona 4 Arena with my girlfriend. She will mash her one button, but unlike normal, she won’t give up because her standing medium kick is not making her win. Instead she will experience immense combos the like of which she has never seen. Hopefully this peaks her interested enough and she keeps playing, learns the actual nuances of the game, and then I will have a sparring partner for life!

I’ve been getting into Persona a lot lately. Both the games and the anime shows. I didn’t have the cash to pick up P4A. Hopefully I can pick it up sometime soon on PSN, but winning a copy would make it fast and easy. I’d for sure appreciate it.

This might be a good way for me to get into the Persona series. This isn’t the type of game that I’d normally play, but I’d like to expand my videogame… habits. “Habits” is the right word, right? It looks good and challenging. Plus, this is the kind of game my brother would actually make time to play alongside me. And that’s kind of a big deal for me.

  • My favorite fighting game of all time is Arcana Heart 3, and I just love anime fighters in general. Never got around to getting P4A because I’m poverty status… Have been very interested in it since its release. I never had the time to get deeply into BlazBlue, so Persona seems great since it’s a more simple version and I won’t have to spend 3 months in the lab learning combos.

Also, Teddie seems like an amazing design, very cool character, as does Shadow Labrys and a lot of the others. Although I’ve never played the Persona series, i am a huge JRPG fan, someday i’ll get around to playing the persona games.

It’s a contest. It’s a free game. So why not?

And there’s even more reasons too:
     – It will be showcased at EVO. Good chance to practice things up until there.
     – Netcode is awesome. Supporting those who developed it to help us players with good online infra-structure is something nice to do as well.
     – It’s a FG from the SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI Universe – the best mature RPG series from all the time. Plus, it precceds even Pokémon with the “Mon Catching” formula and gameplay.
    – Soundtrack is awesome. Remixed stuff from both P3 and P4, as well tracks from both games, from the godlike composer Shoji Meguro. Why not love?
     – I already mentioned that I’m a fan of MegaTen series?

So, puh-lease… I deseve a copy. You can’t go wrong with me. <3 – I'll make Atlus proud, and Atlus and SRK will make me happy with the game too. Fair deal if you ask me. 😀

except for the two rare ones for ps1 and this game. I also love fighting

I’ve been interested in Persona, but free money has dried up for me in the last 4-6 months (new kid does that to you), and I haven’t been able to justify purchasing it.

My wife plays Persona since she doesn’t like SF and gets intimidated by the pace and large combos of Marvel.  However, we live on island and there isn’t much of scene here for fighters, let alone niche anime fighters.  At any rate, it gets a little boring just playing each other.  Our good friend, Daniel, who we have been to EVO with the past two years lives in Colorado and she would like to be able to play him online, but we only own Persona for Xbox360 and he owns it for PS3.  This would be a great opportunity for her to have another person she is comfortable practicing and playing against.  Thanks for the consideration!

  • Although I already own the game for the 360, a copy of the game for my PS3 would also be nice whenever I should have people over, or for our group of fighting game players here in Columbus on fight nights.

In a lot of ways, I think this game does great at bridging the people who enjoy the Persona universe, and may have had an inkling of an interest in fighters. The game offers some beginner mechanics such as auto-combos, which allow people to quickly get in the game for the sake of playing. As they improve, more can be gained with the help of the Tutorial and Challenge modes. Having played the first few Blazblues, I’ve always liked Arc System Works’ Challenge modes, as they also offer demonstrations of each of the moves and combos they want you to do. Although not always practical or optimal, they can at least open up players to the potential of each of their characters.

Arcade and Story Mode offer a good solid amount of hours for those playing solo and/or interesting in the Persona 3/4 universe, and for multiplayer, the netcode is pretty solid. Essentially, Atlus got a lot of things right with this game from making the characters true to their in-game selves, having a good amount of movement and defensive options, and granting a good online experience. It’s a good fighter people can play both for competition and enjoyment, and I’d like to continue to spread the word about it.

During college, my friends and I enjoyed the Guilty Gear series thoroughly.  20 hour marathon sessions.  Check.  Late night snack runs to Taco Bell.  Check.  Neighbor noise complaints.  Check.

Since then life has pulled our group in different ways (primarily work/family related) where we haven’t been able to play the fighting games like in the old days.  A copy of Persona could change all that.

I recently emigrated from Austria to Canada. When Austrians leave their country for another they are hit with the weight of history and a rage starts to ensue. We have all seen what happens when an Austrian leaves their country and takes power in another, dark days and dark deeds. I need an outlet to channel my naturally cold hearted Vienna-induced urges into. Also I totally guessed who was responsible for the whole murders thing in p4 right away and that deserves some rewarding, WHY DOES NO ONE CARE???

I have never been really good at the Guilty Gear series much but I have always enjoyed the art and gameplay style. So yea, I’m a stream monster. I am mostly good at Marvel series games. Recently though, my younger brother bought this and I happen to have fond memories of Persona from the PS1 days( …yes…I played hours hearing those loud footsteps) so I figured I would check it out. I was sooo sorry I had to even leave because not only did he show me the depth was more than I thought it was, he beat me like a red-headed stepchild and it resparked a brotherhood rivalry. Only problem is, I’m a poverty fighter…so much akin to Ryu I’m hoping that this is my destiny to win this copy, master this game, and beat up on my poor younger brother. Because…well…that’s what brothers do. 🙂

I want to play this game because Atlus has a history of making amazing fighting games. Atlus games always include unique mechanics that you can’t really find in other games. In this particular game, it looks as though they have stepped it up a notch. It looks like you can get really creative with the combo system and the Persona element of the game is brilliant. The persona’s add an extra strategy to each character that in not unlike the Arcana in Arcana Heat, another great Atlus game. The game also looks as though Atlus developed it to be friendly for beginners and veterans better than most fighting games. I’d really like to play this game and get some friends into it. It looks like a lot of fun.

I would like to have P4 Arena because 3 reasons:
    1. My brothers are anime fans and there are few good fighting games truly loyal to their anime franchise.
    2. I have a crush on a girl that cosplay a variety of characters from video games and I’m sure she would like to play with me if I won the game…(plus I am going to ask her to cosplay Yukiko Amagi and God knows she would look amazing :D).
    3. I like fighting games a lot, I have KOF XIII and every weekend my brothers and I had fun, and with P4 Arena the fun factor would increase twice. (I’m going to whoop some ass with Teddy)

Finally, I didn’t buy the game already because:
    1. Last december I went to the dentist and he said that an endodontic treatment was require in 2 teeth and I had to get a loan; so I will not have money for about 6 months :(.

Well I guess I want Persona 4 Arena not only because I am from Europe so getting to play the game would be awesome but also as someone who enjoys Arc Systems Works fighting games but also because I enjoy the RPGs. The combination of the two studios Atlus and ASW is really quite brilliant and briefly playing P4A is what got me to try Persona 4 Golden and I enjoyed it greatly. I hope it isn’t too late for P4A to bloom in EU when it does eventually release here but I will certainly do my part and show up to tournaments and events when it does.

  • I love BlazBlue & Arc System Works is the reason how I heard about this game, including the Persona series. I got this game on Xbox 360, but I don’t have Gold Membership at the moment & I really want to play Ranked Matches online. I have a ps3, but I don’t play it as much, cause I’m not good with the ps3 controller. Since the ps3 console has free online & if I’m one of the lucky winners, I promise I’ll play this game online for as long as I can. I really want to face against anyone online cause Arcade Mode & the other modes are getting kinda boring for me (Xbox 360).

    SRK: SkullDudeBlueJ

  • I’ve always wanted to play P4A but with my commitment to UMvC3 and KoF13 I never really found time to improve at the game. At first I wanted to play Aigis, a strong character but one that requires a lot of prior knowledge and resource management skills to play, which didn’t let me get started as fast as everyone else, and further discouraged me from continuing on.

Months later, I played P4G. I found appreciation for how much of the RPG game was translated into P4A, and I grew to like Chie as a character. So I told myself I’d play Chie in P4A if things ever came to that. Things did come to that, because this renewed interest was met with additional motivation — inclusion in Evo 2013. I wouldn’t outright be able to become the best Chie player ever (don’t get me wrong; I’d damn well try), but I decided that I’d represent the character I am the most fond with and at the very least, try to have fun. I popped the game back into my Xbox to learn her combos, setups, movement, etc. but there was still another problem:

I still had no one to play with. Since my other two main games have bad netplay, my offline playing time was 100% dedicated to playing those two games, and I still couldn’t fit in time to play P4A. I was also told that XBL has no one playing P4A online… PSN, however, had everyone playing there.

… Then this article came into existence. Just let me win the giveaway. Pls.

P4A has been one of my favorite games to watch and play and the persona series has always had some of the most compelling and deep character in games in general. Once I heard that Arc-system works and atlas would pair up in making a fighting game I knew I had to play it. Simple but deep mechanics, unique cast, dropping the execution barrier to increase accessibly yet promoting smart decision making as the key to victory. This game is one of the best of this console generation and needs more support desperately. Although I have played the game on Xbox, a majority of the competitive community is on ps3 and I would like to step my game up to the next level. Best anime game since Guilty gear.

  • I’d like to have Persona 4 Arena because it’s an actually really cool concept, having a developer known for generally entertaining and fun fighting games making a game for another company’s most famous spinoff of a long-running Role-playing game franchise. Also the mechanics are similar to Guilty Gear and Blazblue, two games that I love that Arc System Works is most known for. The system and how personas can be used are interesting, not a lot of fighters try that, the other most well known is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future by Capcom. And I also play the Persona games, so since this game is a canon sequel to Persona 3 and 4, it’d be nice to try guessing what Atlus will do for Persona 5.

I’m an Artist who’s always looking to feed on interesting ideas and designs.  from the trailers, and combo vids the game looks really stylish, and unique.  Unfortunately I’m a guy who’s on a budget and can’t buy everything under the sun, I’d rather not commit to purchases unless I’m well informed or try a demo, that being said, whenever Arc System Works does make a game their unique art styles always manages to leave an impression and distinguish itself from the “Capcom’s” and “Nether Realm studios” out there.

I’ve awed at the designs and Animations of “Hokuto No Ken”, “BlazBlue”, and all the way back to the original release of “Guilty Gear” on PlayStation one.  So to absorb a little bit of the flair I see in “Persona 4 Arena”, would be welcome. 🙂

Honestly, I want a spare copy so I can help bring another person from my local community into playing it and help the scene grow. I started playing fighting games back in 2004? or so playing guilty gear after a friend lent me his soundtrack for it, and it was love at first sight. Un/fortunately, ever since then I’ve been more inclined to playing supposed ‘anime fighters’ over more traditional ones, even though I love Street Fighter and KoF dearly, and play both.

That is not a problem in itself, but it is a bit problematic how anime games have much lower player bases than the main capcom games. As a result, I try to take it on myself to help foster the community for every game I play, whether it’s an obscure fighter from Japan even people at mizuumi.net refuse to play or Persona 4 Arena or Blazblue. I find that I’m great with all sorts of mechanics and the explanation thereof with fighting games, so while my general gameplay isn’t exactly on a high end level, I do my best to teach everyone I can how to get into the games, and I’ve seen a few become far better than I am thanks to being brought into the game with whatever information I was able to give them. In particular, I’m one of those unseen wiki editors that not only flesh it out with the necessary information, but I go out of my way to fill them out fully and double check all the information posted there as I’m deathly afraid of teaching new players the wrong information.

In summary… I really hope I can get this copy of the game to help foster at least one more new player in my local scene. There’s a few people I’m sure will jump on the bandwagon if I can get them a free copy of it, and with that, we’ll be able to start running tournaments over round robin more consistently.

    For salt and glory.

  • I had originally bought this game for the 360, however it broke down again (big surprise) and I would love to pick up this game again.  Here in Oklahoma the fighting game community is very small, and everyone either plays Street Fighter or Smash Bros.  I would like to promote anime fighters like Persona and Guilty Gear in our part of the country.  When this game came out nobody really took it seriously, but I will persevere in my quest to convince them otherwise.  There is alot of wasted potential here in Oklahoma and i’ll be damned if I simply do nothing.  Thanks for considering me in your contest!

Finishing my last semester in college, living in a house with 4 other guys that play fighting games, but we haven’t played persona 4, and it looks amazing and fun. We’re getting a bit tired of Melty blood, if I win, it won’t be just me that get to enjoy the game, but my housemates as well. And I will talk up shoryuken.com all day everyday to whoever will listen! Pictures of us playing together included if we can land a copy! Btw, posting a comment has changed with the new overhaul, my shoryuken account is dhoushi.

  • There’s a small Fighting game community in my town but the only games they play are Persona Arena and BlazBlue on PS3. I have neither game so I can’t ever play with them online, makes me an outsider to the group so they aren’t as willing to help me learn how to play as they are with other people that do play online with them.

Additonally as is I own a PS3 that I NEVER use, having an actual reason to turn it on would be nice.

I’ve wanted this game since launch and had it pre-ordered on Amazon.com.  I am a HUGE fan of Guilty Gear and Blazblue and have bought at least two of each (GGXX, GGXX#R, BBCT, and BBCS:EX).  When I found out about the region lock I canceled my Amazon order.  I’m super excited that it has come out on PSN and I want to finally get into this game!

Well the reasons why I would love to have Personal 4 is that not only am I a fan of Fighting games, but I love 2-D fighters. Recently I been working on drawings similar to anime/manga style for a manga I want to do (yes I understand the difficulties I’ll run into especially since I live in the USA) and what I find amazing is the amount of work that go into these traditional sprite 2-D fighters. I was always a fan of Atlus work, (thanks to Guilty Gear) but until my first encounter with BlazBlue, back when they revealed it at Anime-expo in LA, I was instantly hooked. the sprites are all gorgeous, and loved the unique fighting style each character has. since then I’ve looked at plenty of games that Atlus have made ( one I wished they would release on the network would be the Fist of the North Star fighter for the PS2) and since study/analyzing how they made some moves look insanely fast and fluid or even the facial expression of some characters to show how powerful the moves are, and Personal isn’t different. Even though I don’t have the game, my friends and I go to the local James Game Arcade to play Personal (so far favorite character is the boxing guy). nowadays it seems that the competition between 2-D fighters and 3-D fighters has blinded some people from seeing the great complex art styles that go into making sprites come to life. I can go on and on about my appreciation for fighters, but I can easily sum it up in a couple of words, 2-D fighters are amazing. I may have made a new profile today, but I’ve been a die hard 2-D fan for life. thanks Atlus for these great fighters, and never make the change to 3-D. hahaha

I’ve been wanting to play this game for forever now, I love all of arc systems work’s games going all the way  back to guilty gear 2 on dreamcast. I’ve played persona 4 to death must have beaten that game a few times by now, and have been itching to add this to my collection. I love collecting fighting games and trying to master them, and this one is next on my list.

I’ve recently picked up a new arcade stick and I feel this would be the perfect game to break this bad boy in with, if I even mange to win this I will be eternally grateful

  • I always felt because I wasn’t fond of Persona and didn’t know anything about the series I shouldn’t be playing the game…. but watching people play the game, I definitely don’t need it. It’s a fighting game and that I know what it’s about… If anything, getting the chance to pick this game up would be a great introduction. I love a game that is not only a great fighter, but has pleasant visuals and sound alike, and Persona 4 Arena delivers in every aspect. I’m never annoyed by the announcer and the VA is on point. I personally find that to be an important part of the fighting game experience. I hate to be like the next guy, but I have not picked up Persona (or any of the other fighting games I’m interested in like KOFXIII and PS All-stars) because I’m not financially stable atm.

I want to play P4A cause I have recently gotten into the Blazblue games, and loved them, so since its the same developer, I of course want to play this game as well. I haven’t played the Persona games yet, but do intend to, which is why I have hold off on getting this, but I guess I could ignore the story mode and just play the characters.

  • I’ve been playing fighting games for a long time. They’re my favorite genre, and I take pride in the fact that I’ve played the vast majority of fighting games out there. However, I recently took a look at my fighitng game playing habits. I looked at the games I’ve played most recently. Lots of Street Fighter. Lots of Tekken. Some UMvC3. Even some KoFXIII here and there. I sit back and I think about it….these are, for the most part, the same characters I’ve been playing with for the past TWO DECADES!

Yes, these games come out with new iterations here and there, but each of these games feature largely familiar casts with largely familiar moves! Despite my pride in playing fighting games, I’ve become a bit stagnant. I haven’t branched out and tried anything new! When was the last time I played a game with a completely new roster and completely new gameplay mechanics?

Persona 4 is the sort of game I should have been playing. Not only is it held in high regard both in the competitive FGC, but it’s also held in high regard among video game critics. What better game to knock me out of my complacency than Persona 4?

This is why I need the game. I need something that is new, fresh, and guaranteed to be of high quality. Here’s hoping I can get a copy, so I can see what fresh, new 2d fighting is all about.

I own this game already on 360. However, I have since donated my 360 to my younger sister, as well as started a Netflix account (under my name) for her to use, because she felt as though she had no entertainment in her room compared to my brother and I (he has a PS3 and 360, I only have a PS3 now). Considering my situation, and my newly acquired PS3 fightstick (which, by the way, I got because I only have a 360 stick, but everyone here plays Guilty and P4A on PS3), this would be a great way for me to get back on the P4A grind so I can keep my skills sharp with the players in my community. It would be very much appreciated!

I am a long time JRPG fan who grew up primarily on Final Fantasy and its like ilk.  It was not until recently that I discovered the MegaTen universe and all it has to offer.  Since then I have been on an MegaTen binge, enjoying games from Devil Survivor to Shin Megami Tensei to Persona.  I would like to keep exploring this universe and all it has to offer.

As a MvC3 primary player, I’m very interested in the complex game mechanics P4A uses.  I am a fan of the Stand mechanic used in JoJo’s back in the day and its revival here.  Elizabeth looks particularly fun to play, though I would also be checking out Yukiko to see if she fits my style.  Something about Elizabeth seems like it fits my idea of a good time fighting, though.  Balance through insanity!

  • I would really like a chance to play P4A.  I’m a huge fan of Persona games, ever since the first game, crappy localization and all (“Mark danced crazy!”).  I’m happy that the Persona series is well-received now, especially Persona 4.  Owning P4A would be a double bonus for me, because I love fighting games, and I’m also interested in knowing what the gang’s up to after the events of P4.  P4 has a lot of hilarious moments, and I’m sure P4A is no exception.  I told myself that if I ever got this game, I would main Akihiko because his playstyle appeals to me, and I want to box the crap out of people.

If you need any more reasons why I should be given P4A, well simply put, I love Atlus and how they handle their business.  They have their ear to the ground at all times and are always in touch with their community.  I’ve been a fan ever since the original Persona, and when they released Tactics Ogre (thank you for publishing the Ogre Battle games, by the way!).  They’ve done a great service to the fighting game community by releasing KOF13 and P4A.  It will be interesting to see if they release any more fighting games in the future.  I guess they’ll do that when it makes sense to do so!

  • First, thanks for the opportunity to enter this contest. Certainly a kind gesture from both atlus and shoryuken.com

As to why I actually want Persona 4 Arena I think it’s mainly because a lot of my friends play it and enjoy it but it’s something that I personally have not gotten the opportunity to try out. It’s an Arc Sys game so good netcode is a given and if Guilty Gear and BlazBlue are any example then this title is sure to be filled to the brim with characters with unique and interesting character designs.

I can’t say that I’m too familiar with Persona as an IP but everything I’ve seen from Kanji’s (Chair) play has really gotten me excited to get my hands on the character. Grapplers hold a special place in my heart and there’s nothing more satisfying then grabbing my opponent and having him instantly lose a third of his life because of one bad decision.

I didn’t get to play many fighting games last year for various reasons but I’d love the opportunity to add Persona 4 Arena to my fighting game library. Somehow I think it’ll fit well right next to Skullgirls on my downloadable list.

With fighting games expanding all over the place and games from certain companies like Atlus and Monolith bringing the JRPG back to stardom, I believe I’m ready to enter the Persona universe. There’d be no better way than to enter with an excellent, acclaimed fighter with interesting RPG-like elements per character.  And all the characters seem brilliantly unique, from Aegis to Elizabeth.  I’m betting I’ll play Yukiko, I feel like I can learn a thing or two about projectiles in fighting games with her fire attacks.  Most of all, I want to get others into the game to play with me.  I host a weekly gathering of fighting gamers in my local city/school and am eager to see more diverse tastes emerge.  Persona 4 Arena can definitely click with most of the guys there since it is accessible and stylish.  Not to mention the visuals are powered by amazing 2D sprites.  I hope someday I am able to get a competent level with Yukiko, or any other character that suits my playstyle (or helps iron out my weaknesses).

  • There’s a lot of reasons why I want to play Persona 4 Arena. I’m a huge fighting game fan, but I’m also a huge Persona fan. I’ve been playing the series since the first game was released in the US almost 17 years ago and as such Persona 4 Arena is an excellent combination of these two passions and I would love to play it.

Consdiering all of that it might be surprising that I haven’t already picked it up already but honestly no one in town plays it (SF4 and Marvel only in these parts). If I win I’ll definitely try to set up a scene here as the game looks, sounds, and seems to play pretty damn awesomely. Here’s hoping I win!

I recently became a fan of this game when I saw some guys playing this at my school’s engineering campus. They invited me to play a few rounds and I instantly fell in love with the game. This fights are fast paced similarly to blazblue, and there are sp moves in this game that gives you new options how to spend your meter.

Needless to say, I’ve been meeting up with them at school every chance I could, lugging my fightstick with me along with my school supplies, and frantically waiting for our class lecture to be over so I could get some fights in. I’ve been doing this so long that I actually surprised myself recently how good I’ve gotten at a game I don’t even own. With that said I would love to have the opportunity to play it on my ps3 sometimes without having to go on a 40 minute bus ride to campus.

Fighting Games have always been my life, I truly enjoyed getting around with friends, and obtaining hype from the crazy stuff that goes on within the game itself. If I was to win this game, It could begin a new passion and love for the fighting game Genre.

I loved the persona 4 video game, but being in college there are very few moments where I can spend any amount of money without serious repercussions.  5 dollars for a rim of paper? Well, there goes the week’s supply of cup noodles.   Need a pen? Been playing this game with my friend on his Xbox 360 for the past couple months. P4A feels fresh compared to other fighting games because it feels like I am playing as two characters(me and my Persona) at a time, which makes for a ton of unpredictable moments when playing when creativity is rewarded. I like to play Elizabeth because she seems the most unique – low health, but full control over all systems in the game – trade meter for life or vice versa. However, I don’t have the game so I can’t usually overtake my friends. Would love to have a copy of my own so that I could practice and finally show ’em a whole new Elizabeth the next time we meet 🙂

Persona 4 Arena always looked interesting and it was a game that I kept my eyes on, but due to financial reasons, I couldn’t really give it a shot. I like how technical the game looks and I like how it’s different from fighting games that I’m accustomed to. It definitely looks like a “Easy to learn, hard to master” kind of game. Persona 4 Arena might even cause me to branch out to the other Persona games that have come out in the past because this game has some really interesting looking characters. Also, I really enjoy the animation that was put into this game, from what I’ve seen in gameplay videos. There are not too many games are coming out with the 2D-ish look now with most franchises moving to full 3D and it’s nice to see what looks like art in motion. I would love to give this game a chance and I’ve already seen a few characters that I would like to try in it.

My friend recently got me back into them and I’m trying my best, despite being terrible at combos, but I’m still trying. When I played Persona 4: Arena, I fell in love and it gave my confidence a boost. I really want this game so I can get into it and get better at fighting games, especially this one since it’s so fun. I was a fan of the Persona series long before I was a fan of fighting games and the first fighting game I played on a regular basis was P4A at my friends house almost every day on the last month of summer 2012.  I saved my money and bought a WWE Brawlstick and modded it so i could bring it to my friends houses when we would have fight nights.  I also went to Next Level Arcade in Brooklyn to start participating in my local scene and I’ve been learning so much.  I would really appreciate a copy of P4A.  I’ve played persona 4 twice and im on my second play through of Persona 3 and I love every part of P4A, not only is it a fun great game, its also a love letter for persona fanatics.  The way someone explained persona to me before i played it was, “there arn’t many people who know persona, but the people who do, love it immensely.”  I am so grateful that a persona game like this can help launch it more into the mainstream.

  • My shoryuken username is Crisiz, and the reason why i would like to play Persona 4 arena is because I am a University student up in Canada running on the Government’s money to pay for my education.haha

I need a copy of Persona 4 Arena for my girlfriend, who actually wants to sit down and really learn all of the intricacies of a fighting game for once (thank the RPG for this).  She wants to learn in time for Evo but she can’t borrow my copy when I’m always using it for sessions.  She’s already picked up P3 Fes, SMT Nocturne, and both Devil Summoner games because she enjoyed P4 so much (she’s gonna be in for a surprise when she realizes how different they all are).  This would be the perfect end to our Valentine’s weekend.

I got this game on release day and it was my favorite FG of 2012. I usually give the game good reviews on all sites I visit (little example: http://reviews.ebgames.ca/9016-en_ca/312684/reviews.htm?reviewID=25437779) and overall I see P4A as a mayor contribution to the air-dasher scene.

Sadly, many don’t give this game a chance due to some mechanics (autocombo) or simple dislike of the Persona lore. I recently moved to a new city where anime fighters are not as popular and would like an extra copy just to give it to someone and start making friends here as well as pushing this game into the scene. Thanks for the giveaway, hope I can win.

I’m a fan of the Persona franchise and simply haven’t been able to find a
copy of this. I could amazon it, but I try to support physical stores
when I can. I’ve heard good things about the game and have become
friends with one of the VAs so I’m eager to play it.

I’m a serious fighting game fan and a big fan of the persona series, P3 specifically, and I’ve been wanting to get a copy of this game for a while. Plus, if you picked me we could be best friends and I could make you pancakes. 🙂

  • In my love for all fighting games, I’ve yet to add an anime fighter to my collection. I’ve played a wide variety of fighters, and I think P4A would be the perfect pick for my first anime fighter ever! I’ve always been very curious about picking up this game and this would give me the opportunity to expand my horizons on the fighting game genre.

  • So yeah….I honestly just want this game given to me because I’m way too broke to buy it myself.

  • I want to learn a different style of fighter.

  • My friend owns Persona 4 arena and I never I had the game but heres why I want it though I absolutely love fighting games, the Persona series, and Arc System Works, the masterminds behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, so naturally one would think this game would be a smash hit. Technically it is, where in Japan it’s become the number one selling fighting game in recent years, and if there’s anything to be learned from that it’s that fighting games aren’t dead, despite the lack of “commercial” accessibility.

Luckily, ASW addresses that issue in Persona 4 Arena, which became almost instantly identifiable when I jumped into Challenge mode with Akihiko. I was expecting a GG or BB control scheme, complete with all sorts of different attacks for a single button that can be performed through simple directional inputs (e.g. 2C, 5C, 6C), which consequently opens the doors to long combo chains. Although that’s quite fun, ASW left that system in those games and simplified things considerably here.

And by simplified, I mean that during the early days of this game’s cycle you’ll probably see a lot of players online spamming Auto Combos, which certainly look impressive and would be more difficult to perform normally, but as you can plainly see by the notation (a string of five A attacks, for example) the combo is pretty braindead. Before you shake your head in dismay, though, remember Marvel also has braindead combos (and characters), and it’s a game that’s easy to grasp yet hard to master. And as far as impressions go on day one of release, Persona 4 Arena seems that way as well.

Persona 4 Arena looks, plays, and feels in almost every way like an ASW title. It has multiple single player modes, such as a comprehensive tutorial, challenge mode, extremely robust story mode (understatement of the year!), and a training mode with more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at. The SP meter (super meter) is identical to BB, not just in how it’s measured but also in how you build it; there is a burst system; you can combo after throws; and you have two Persona normals that feel like a Drive attack in BB. One cool aspect of the Persona attacks, though, is that your Persona has a health bar, too, in the form of four cards which if depleted deactivate it for about 10 seconds. This is huge. Several attacks and combos rely on Personas, and some characters are useless without their Persona. Think of the implications this could have in matches and tournaments.

Despite the heavy ASW flavor so far, Persona 4 Arena’s attack buttons aren’t as multi-purposed as other titles from the company. As mentioned previously, A, B, C, and D for the most part all have one attack without multi-directional counterparts, which is actually a really nice departure that simplifies combat a lot. There’s one weak and one strong attack; one weak and one strong Persona attack; and a sweep performed by hitting down, plus A and B. Simple, right? Another unique feature is Furious Actions, which is just a combination of B and D at the same time. For some characters this is a simple DP (Dragon Punch), for others it’s a counter, but what makes it interesting is that it reduces your HP slightly (which auto recovers, though) and usually has significant recovery (but can be used in combos if used properly). All Out Attacks are also somewhat unique, but for the most part feel like modified versions of Dust attacks in GG. This is basically an attack that hits once and sends the opponent spinning backwards allowing you to follow up with a launcher or a “grounder,” both of which allow for combos afterward. You simply hit A and B and viola, you have an All Out Attack.

What also makes the game unique is probably the most obvious aspect, and that would be the Persona characters which will immediately guarantee a sale for any diehard Persona fan even if he/she isn’t into fighting games. The same trend happened when BlazBlue released in 2009; plenty of anime fans flocked to the game because of its visual aesthetics and elaborate story mode, the latter of which not typically associated as a strong suit for fighting games. The Persona writing staff is luckily on board for this title, though, and with that comes certain expectations in terms of quality and content, which have been exceeded with leaps and bounds as far as I can tell so far, since this is after all a proper sequel to Persona 4.

Despite all this, however, the game’s strong suits may be its undoing. As popular as Persona may be, it is still a niche series made even more niche by becoming a fighting game, a pill that gets harder to swallow when you have to master combos and fighting game techniques such as footsies and spacing which can be grueling trials of endurance for a novice player. After story mode has been completed, the sheen might fade and diehard fans might not be compelled to play online despite the numerous tools ASW has provided to make any fight a button mashing affair. Of course, I hope I’m wrong, but we saw it happen to BlazBlue; hopefully, ASW will find a way to keep the game fresh, and the community will find a way to make it relevant because it would be a shame for such a gem to fade into obscurity as countless other amazing games have.
