KsizzleMvC3 has uploaded a new Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 video that explores how team hyper combos work. With specific team setups, certain THCs will hit on frame 0. In simple terms, this means that you have to be blocking before the super flash to avoid getting hit by the THC, making them an amazing option on reaction. Only a few teammates, like Spencer and Wesker, create a 0 frame THC and even then they only do so with certain point characters.

This tech is, admittedly, old. In fact, it was originally mentioned in the vanilla version of Shoryuken’s MvC3 hyper guide.

However, Ksizzle has said that there is a lot more potential in this tech than people give it credit for. For example, you can do it during the super flash of Vergil’s swords and a 0 frame super is guaranteed to hit, even if Vergil was holding back.

  • Btw this tech is useful for punish Morrigan’s flight cancel, you can’t unfly if you catch her with a zero frame attack.

      Unlikely, a good Morrigan will always be at a distance during the bullet hell tactic, and the tech requires a certain distance for it to work. You can land this when she tries to get in with Shell Kick though and punish both her and the assist. Chris G, typically covers Shell Kick with Doom’s missiles.

      This is seems to be more practical as a means of sniping annoying assists rather than countering on point characters since some hypers don’t hit entirely leading to poor damage on point characters.

        Many characters can punish from near full screen. I’ve had success sniping Morrigans who get cheeky with my Taskmaster/Spencer THC. There’s things that the Morrigan player can do to protect themselves, but not without sacrificing some of the efficacy; simply having it at your disposal, forcing Morrigan to have to deal with it, makes it easier to play against her.

    Some characters have 0 frame THC when they’re on point too, right?  I can’t remember if it’s as an assist or one point, but I could’ve sworn Skrull drill, Cap HS&S and HCS could all hit on frame 0.  I can’t remember if they’re teammate dependent like these examples though.

    Spencer plus Iron man is a gdlike THC, both for combos and just throwing out at random. Comboing afterward is easy.

    Hell, spencer plus anything works out great typically.

    Edit: The way its demonstrated in the video makes it look kind of worthless IMO.

    I use this tech to punish assist spams or teams that rely on assist mix ups and lock down ie Dantes reverb shock assist in ZMC.

      They probably play offline only so never got the update that patched it out. So they have the second most recent update, which changes no gameplay.

    I wrote about this a lot right before ultimate came out.

    There are no 0 frame supers. You can always block post flash.

    Team supers take the Pre flash startup of the point characters team super, and every other character just uses post freeze startup after the flash.

    Bunch of supers have 1 frame post flash. Most beam similar supers for instance.
