Capcom vs. SNK 2 Confirmed for U.S. Release, More News Coming Next Year

In addition to Capcom Fighting Jam, it looks as if we will be getting Capcom vs. SNK 2 stateside soon as well. When asked on the Capcom-Unity forums about both games and the fact that they have seen releases on the Japanese PlayStation Network as PlayStation 2 Classics, Capcom’s Christian Svensson said that the games would hit land in the United States “eventually.”

“The timing will be quite different though from Japan,” Svensson said. “More news will come “next year.”"

Of course, anyone with a Japanese PSN account can already grab these titles, but it will be nice for other regions to have the opportunity to try them out, even with the lack of online support.

       Who cares about online?  Everyone not living in NYC or near one of the Cali arcade hubs, that’s who.  And even they care about online now that improvements have been made in fighting game netcodes.

    I’m happy buying CvS2 as is, since I don’t have a backwards compatible PS3. Hopefully Capcom will not just do a straight port of the PS2 version and put some features in. If they had the leeway to redo all the sprites and stages, I’d be extra super happy about it.

    I can’t stand the Japanese re-release of this game. The timing has never felt right and the game lags/glitches depending on the stage you’re playing in. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the PS2 or DC version and I won’t be purchasing this on my US PS3.

    Fun game, and it’s a good port over.  Simply because finding the PS2 version isn’t easy, and it’s not exactly cheap either.  I bought mine used for $40 and that was over 6+ years ago, so I can’t even imagine it now.

    Ono stated earlier that even a re-release of this game is unlikely, since the original deal between capcom and snk was  only for so many releases. This means that capcom is actually still working with whatever is left of SNK, and a CVS3 might not be so far-fetched after all.

     BUT THE LAGGGGGG.
    It’ll still be hella fucking fun though to relive this game… But seriously… the lag would kill hopes for a revival unless it was actually remade rather than a port. It’s not unplayable (I’ve been on that Japanese version) but many advanced tactics don’t work well like RC’ing is unreliable… Likewise I can’t PTF with the input delay… But I can still do things like hit confirm Ken’s c.lkx2 xx SRRlvl2 and Sagat’s c.hp into his low tiger shot super. It’s not horrible enough to say that it can’t be played, but it’s not going to work for higher level play. No RC & off timing for PTF/Shosho = different game.

    They added it in SSFII for the Wii’s Virtual Console, and that was a straight port of the Genesis/Megadrive version…

    I love this game, and it’s worthy of every bit of love it gets, but honestly, if it came out as a new game – in a post 2009, post SF4 world it’d be absolutely crucified by the FGC.

    I don’t mean because of the graphics – I mean just because of how it plays and how it is as a spectator game. I believe that today’s stream monsters, for the most part, would HATE watching this game on a regular basis, would go on about how boring it is, how slow the matches seem, etc. The closest thing to it today is SFxT – a game that seems to get pretty much no love except from a dedicated few. CVS2 is a classic, but I really believe it, like SFxT, is just not for the masses.

      We need at least 1 legiy capcom fighter in tournaments. At least one. Personally, I would love a mvc2 and/or cvs2 to make a comeback. And I know alot of others do as well. Fuck, sf4 and mvc3 they can have it. Thats way the fgc is not taking seriously,because people choose their games by what a select play and whats simply new. Nothing is base on quality.

       Fuck stream monsters. Of coarse they have bad taste, that’s why that type “when’s marvel” like some whiny nerdy bitches.

    Needs online, Capcom should have thought that more people would buy it if you can play online. Since this came out on PS2 and Gamecube, most beat em up fans would already have it. Why basically release the same game and introduce lag? That’s just dumb!! People can play offline on their older version which doesn’t lag!!
