Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – Nearly Inescapable Spencer “Bionic-Reset” Video by Bakuhakubasugasu

Bakuhakubasugasu shared this new Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 video demonstrating what he calls the “Bionic Reset” with Spencer’s command throw.  The reset, which has been described as nearly inescapable, is done by kara-canceling Spencer’s normals into his command throw. By using these kara-command throw setups, the reset can catch just about every kind of air tech, as well as people who try to press buttons out of an air tech.

The video below has step-by-step instructions on how to do the reset as well as examples of situations both with and without the reset.

Ah yes. Finally after months of hard work and practice I finally got my new team of Firebrand/rocket rac…. -_-

    (*sigh*)

    F*ck it

Zero/Spencer/Vergil. (Not even gonna TRY anymore…)

    • Natat

Welcome to the world of Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Obligatory I hate tiers comment. sigh. Anyone winning games with a zero/spencer/vergil team probably put months of work into it too.

      • Christopher Wrightson

yeah i know. And your comment was absolutely right; this was that obligatory comment lol.

(btw I’m still gonna pursue the Firebrand team ;-) )

        • xactionbasturdx

Me personally firebrand can be as broken as top tier characters…i use firebrand/storm/doom…the synergy with this team is ridiculous just takes a little more effort is all

    • Nikkawhat

That Zero team would be hot garbage.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricky-Brown/100000273705129 Ricky Brown

    Dante can just double jump.

  • Herbert Jones Rovbinson

Very  nice reset but jesus christ that song sucks.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Bakuhakubasugasu Bee Her

Haha, sorry about that. I put that song in it more so for “certain” people. It’s from Persona so if you don’t like the song most likely you don’t like Persona either lol. More so like a shoutout.

      • http://www.facebook.com/Branflakess Brandon Gomez

oh come on, i actually really enjoyed the song. :D

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YV2437XOBMNL5UI3GR3PWIDHWY Rong

Similar vein as “take you for a ride”.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricky-Brown/100000273705129 Ricky Brown

I’m also not sure, but I bet a lot of chars can forward tech and press a button or use a special attack to avoid this too. Teleport, super, spencer could H grapple down to the spencer reseting him. It’s good technology, but it’s not inescapable.

    • Nikkawhat

      “Nearly inescapable”

      How to read.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricky-Brown/100000273705129 Ricky Brown

Yeah yeah. I simply meant that it’s more avoidable than the tutorial would show.

Spencer resets? lol further proving your health matters not.

  • SedricBull

How the fuck is something “nearly inescapeable”???

    • Yusuf Syakur

Meaning air dash characters can escape but the rest cannot unless you do hard drive. I am sure that is what he meant but Im sure he forgot things like bionic bomber, finger lasers, nova s etc… things that keep u airborne

         Damn Ace… You got told… #Kappa

  • Christopher Wrightson

At work (bad I know :-P ) so this is just speculation but it seems just from the visual and how the reset works, that these should be able to beat it:

    1) Double Jumps (Must be timed quickly to beat)
    2) Air Dashers (Must be timed quickly to beat if not dashing upwards)
    3) Very quick aerial moves/specials/hypers (as Ricky stated)

Will follow up this evening to check which characters can escape and how. Then I’ll list them here after for the creator’s sake and everybody who doesn’t use Spencer on their main/side teams (like nobody -_- … Including Myself lol)

    SO LONGGG SUCKERRRRRRRRRRRRR

      HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Herbert Jones Rovbinson

What about calling assists to escape?  Doom missiles would continue even if the throw connects.. or maybe an anti air assist like hulk could hit spencer first.

  • NTyron52

    Another nice Spencer video Baku.

OTT always keeping it good :) .

  • SpiderDan

Two problems I see with this (or, more specifically, describing it as “nearly inescapable”):

    1)  It wouldn’t seem to work on anyone with an airdash (or airdash-like move e.g. Lightning Attack), double jump, or air teleport, which takes over 75% of  the cast off of the table (everyone except Jill, Chris, Nemesis, PW, Vergil, Frank, Haggar, GR, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, Hulk, She-Hulk).

    2) There’s a significant change in timing between the neutral/back tech and the front tech options (front is much later), meaning that if you’re truly waiting to react (instead of playing odds), you’re probably opening yourself up to stuff like Helm Breaker.

Of course, you can stop airdashes and other stuff by doing H grapple, but that just makes the guessing nature of the tactic obvious.

It’s a reset for a reason. There’s always risk/reward in this game and resets in general. I was just showcasing Spencer alone but it’s obviously this is backed by an assist if you have a team built for Spencer. I use Shuma/Mystic Ray in my real setup but I’m saving certain clips for other videos.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001547561080 Austin Anene

Haggar has aerial command grab, Jill has H knee drop, Vergil has aerial S, Frank has a ton of shit, Hulk has aerial H (unlikely to work)…

  • RenaTurnip

I’ve been doing M and H kara command grabs with Spencer since like… the second month of vanilla xD It’s an extremely useful tech for both his ground and air versions and I’m sad that people have never used it to extend the range, because the reach on it is crazy.

Now if only I was good enough as a player for my use of it to matter.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Bakuhakubasugasu Bee Her

Thanks for those that watched it, but perhaps you guys used the skip button once or twice too much. I already explained in the video that this works best with characters that have “no air dashes.” The reason why it’s nearly inescapable is because most characters without an air dash will be sure fire targets to get grabbed by the setup. I’ve already mentioned that in the video. It’s a reset for a reason and resets are never 100% though you can get them to 90% if you do them on certain characters.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Bakuhakubasugasu Bee Her

I’ve already have done multiple of tests on specials moves and button presses with multiple characters that have no air dashes and they still have not been able to beat the reset when timed correctly. This just shows that there’s another option but really Spencer doesn’t need it since he’s already one touching everything.

    • http://twitter.com/Thraphelga le sun

It’s a shame you gotta hit up this comment section and break it down for the dummies who either don’t get it or are being nit-picky. Everyone, as far as resets go this is pretty air-tight, if it’s not something your opponents are actively looking for then they’re gonna get scooped. He’s not selling unblockables here, a considerable amount of work went into this, just say thanks and move on.

      • http://www.facebook.com/Bakuhakubasugasu Bee Her

I appreciate it bro. People just like being spoon fed after all. I’m trying to help the community in my own way so I could care less about the haters. Criticism is welcomed but keep obvious complaints to yourself when I already explained them in the video. Thanks for everyone watching my videos, again. #cheers

    • SpiderDan

So to be clear, you’re saying that Wolvie’s Drill Claw, X-23′s Talon Attack (cannon drill), and Strange’s Teleport will not get out of this?

      • http://www.facebook.com/Bakuhakubasugasu Bee Her

Tried drill claw before, beat it. Tried talon attack, beat it. I’m in no way saying this reset has to be used. Of course there’s a risk of doing it here against such prioritized moves. Timing and perfecting this plays a huge role as well. I don’t even use it myself much. It’s just to let you know that the tech is there and available. Obviously if you’re worried about mistiming the setup you can just go for a regular mixup. When it’s backed by mystic ray, the setup is very safe even if you miss the timing up since mystic ray covers the faults. It’s obvious that I only did everything Spencer solo to set it up.

I assure you that the only real characters that have an easier time dealing with this are air dash characters and double jump characters. Characters without airdashes/double jumps may make it harder though with certain moves and prioritized moves but it’s on you if you risk the reset with its timing or not. Mystic ray with my team makes this setup safer and I get a whole new mixup if my reset misses with mystic ray still in effect. I think people are getting a little too anxious or something. You don’t need to use the reset, it’s just there to let people know. I’m already killing you with Spencer if I touch you anyways.

  • RenegadeVA

I thought the whole point of spencer was that if you touch them, they die?

Also, doesn’t command grab scale the combo afterwards hard (except UVG’s)?

I would have liked to see a normal combo into the reset as well (it’s kinda hard to get full screen wire confirms). Just to see how much damage you can do before attempting the reset.

    • Duck Strong

Corner command grab leads to over a million damage for 1 bar with a proper Spencer team.
