Spike’s annual Video Game Awards show aired just a few days ago, bringing with it a number of nominees and winners decided by the show’s advisory board, which is made up of various personalities and writers from places like Kotaku, Polygon, and Giant Bomb. While it took breaks in 2007 and 2010, the Best Fighting Game category has been a part of the show since its inception, with the award going to titles such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter IV in recent years.
For 2012, the advisory board nominated four distinct titles (Persona 4 Arena, Dead or Alive 5, Street Fighter x Tekken, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2) and after much deliberation, settled on the Atlus and Arc System Works collaboration as the most deserving of the award this year.
Feel free to visit the comments section below and let us know what you think of their decision, which game you think should have won, and if other nominees were necessary. Other titles that were released this year include Skullgirls, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, and Soul Calibur V.
