Capcom Announces Hiring of Neidel “Haunts” Crisan and Peter “Combofiend” Rosas at the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Grand Finals

Capcom’s second special announcement at the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary grand finals event in Burlingame, California involved two dedicated members of the community joining the company. Both Neidel “Haunts” Crisan of iPlayWinner and longtime competitor Peter “Combofiend” Rosas will be taking positions at Capcom, but specifics were not discussed at this time.

We here at Shoryuken would like to congratulate them both on their success and we can’t wait to see what they have in store. Their dedication to the community has never been in question, and it’s great to see them rewarded for their years of hard work.

    Company is getting desperate

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/EGEE2VKLZ2WMX4CXGCHIICKESE Mathew Golden

I don’t know what world you live in, but on this planet when companies get desperate, they fire people, not hire them.

    • http://twitter.com/tempusrob Robert Paul

Desperation is hiring people with experience and involvement in their field?  Dunno where you work, but where I’m from that’s considered good hiring practice.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BYN5NQ6JQ6NHAUUDMJNRJEU654 ChrisL

no. capcom’s lacking in talent and now NEED the community for input. not a bad thing at all. actually, it’s very smart. people buy what they like so put those types of cats on projects to ensure that potential customers get what they want. besides it doesn’t seem like the casual route is working too well. get rid of x-factor! ok i’m done.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BYN5NQ6JQ6NHAUUDMJNRJEU654 ChrisL

capcom is the reason there’s no Blazblue is on the front page. talk about desperate. you’re not fooling anyone srk. it’s ok. this is just another form of flattery.

”capcom is the reason there’s no Blazblue is on the front page”

        *looks at site name*

…. You’re absolutely right! How DARE they be biased?!

    • scrandom1978

Makes perfect sense then because Combo does better when things look desperate.  Haunts, not so sure about that particular aspect, but he has been around for a while now and he’s quite active in many aspects of the FGC.  My main question is “What exactly will their respective roles be”?  Are they going to be “special advisors” working in kind of a QA/design/tuning role kind of similar to what S-Kill did?  Or are they going to be something else?

  • MuhhPhukka

    I trust Combofiend.

    I LOVE U COMBOFRIEND!!!!

Was this really the second special announcement? The entire SF25th Anniversary was a complete disappointment. Most SF fan are not hardcore or tournament players so having a massive tournament does not give us any excitement. The SF25th Anniversary Collection was geared towards new fan or overly obsess fans. Most fans already have all the 4 games and many, like myself, already had it on both system. So, I am not going to pay $150 for music and duplicate games. Capcom should have created a new game like they did for SF15th. I have been a long time supporter of Capcom but there recent actions is given me doubts. SF25th was not special to me.

They should have had a dude come out dressed as Ken and beat the shit out of the winner’s car

“SF25th was not special to me.”

I’m sure that’ll be a huge disappointment to Capcom, given that the entire 25th anniversary tournament was designed specifically to appeal to you.

      • Rohan Mayers

        lol

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TIC7WNRSMFBSCLF6OR6JQJAAZA sb

Damn bro didnt you write this same thing on eventhubs crying about a collection set that came out months ago dont like it dont buy it your not satisfied with the tournaments sounds like a personal problem you didnt attend or good enuff to compete thats your own fault Capcom held a world tournament and gave away big prize money and a car Capcom gets much respect for that and the tournament gave us much excitement all 20k plus viewers so speak for yourself Capcom been putting out games all year and more to come next year so get cha panties out cha ass and stop complaining

      • Rohan Mayers

You remembered my post from a few months ago?

        • Mitchell MacEachern

Wow, don’t know anyone who loves Street Fighter and doesn’t enjoy watching high level play or find it exciting. Even someone like me who is crap at the game loves watching it.

          • Rohan Mayers

Yea, I do not like it too much. Mainly I do not understand it.

    • FluffyM

I, too, hated getting to see some really high level play for free, it sucked balls.
And then they gave away prizes to people, WHERE DA FUCK MY PRIZE!
      P.S.: No.

    • gigantor21

Oh, Christ, the copy/paste bullshit from the stream chat followed me all the way to SRK. Looks like I’ll have to run my anti-virus again…

      • Rohan Mayers

Yea, why were people copying and pasting my comments on the streaming? It was annoying.

  • FluffyM

    Good for them, less go.

    • Brian Grissom

       No.  More go!

Don’t really care for this kind of crap but at least its them getting attention instead of them being attention whores.

Hasn’t Spooky openly bashed Capcom on the air, though?  That goes a long way in your chances of getting hired by someone.

      • http://twitter.com/DevilJin01 Devil Jin

Yeah his main game was an anime game any way (Melty Blood).  I’m sure he’s not hugely worried about working for Capcom.

      • EA575

I bet he would have declined the offer anyway, also considering he wouldn’t have as much freedom as he does now (like speaking his mind).

  • http://twitter.com/srslygtfo Mr. X

Does this mean Combofiend can no longer enter tournaments for Capcom titles?

    • Mitchell MacEachern

       Good frigging question

    • http://www.tehfamine.com/ Glen “Famine” Swan

Technically, I think he legally still can enter unless the tournament is hosted by Capcom. Most companies include rules where employees cannot enter nor win in special events like giveaways and sweepstakes. The same applies to video game tournaments because they are for the fans, not the employees who may have inside knowledge of how the game mechanics really work. Thus, it’s really on Capcom and Combofiend integrity towards the fans who play their games.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cat-Astrophy/100000838113704 Cat Astrophy

“inside knowledge of how the game mechanics really work”

Are you telling me Capcom lies about gaming mechanics? Also wouldn’t S.Kill be wrecking shop right now if he *actually* had some insider info on the Capcom games developed while he was working for them?

Sorry but we know more about games than the companies do once it’s in our hands. It’s why games get patched so often after they are released. We break everything down in ways the company didn’t have time (or perhaps even the talent) to do.

        • http://www.tehfamine.com/ Glen “Famine” Swan

Nope, I just have never known a game developer or publisher release every detail about their game in all my years working in the game industry. Part of what makes a game fun is that discovery to unearth pieces of the game not told to the end user. Just as they haven’t for Street Fighter and especially Marvel.

A person knowing that knowledge doesn’t mean the execution is there though. I’m pretty sure I can do everything and know everything Daigo knows. It doesn’t mean I’m a Daigo because we execute it differently.

And yes, sometimes most fans know more about the game than most of the staff do. But make no mistake, the developers have direct access to how the game works better than anyone does because they see the source and you do not.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cat-Astrophy/100000838113704 Cat Astrophy

I’m going to go ahead and replace “sometimes most fans” with “in every case some fans” because there is no game that is patched that didn’t get fixes (bug or balance) based on our feedback. All because we found out something they didn’t.

          • http://www.tehfamine.com/ Glen “Famine” Swan

Yep, unknowns exist too. Happens to all developers.

“Company fires Seth” Fuck Crapcom, they don’t have anyone who is from the FGC.

“Capcom has Seth working for them” -Seth sold out to Crapcom!

FGC Logic is so painful, its like its built to become dumber over time.
