Happy Medicine Unable to Attend Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Grand Finals This Weekend, EG|Floe to Act as Replacement

A recent tweet by Razer’s Latif revealed that Jakob “Happy Medicine” Davis, who qualified for the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary grand finals with a second place finish in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012 at the Austin qualifier, will not be able to attend the event this weekend due to illness.

Capcom’s Haunts followed up soon after, revealing that the fourth place finisher at the same event (Ari “Floe” Weintraub of Evil Geniuses) will be taking his spot, as Joshua “Wolfkrone” Philpot in third qualified later at the New York City tournament.

For those of you worried about how this will affect our new SRK Fantasy League competition, have no fear. While the name will not be changed, Floe will be taking up the exact same spot Happy Medicine originally occupied, placing him against Mad Catz’ Daigo in the first round. Make sure to apply any changes you deem necessary with this new bit of information.

       Read the article, they didn’t just randomly pick someone.  Wolfkrone got 3rd at Austin, but later qualified elsewhere.  Floe got 4th, and thus was next in line.

    For those curious, Jakob (Happy Medicine) has a bad case of pneumonia right now. He tried his best to recover in time, but he’s still feeling pretty bad, both physically and emotionally. Attending this really meant a lot to him. :(

    How awesome another American and on top of that another Rufus.
    Great job Capcom. there are only 7 American players and 5 Japanese players. Oh wait 2 European and 2  South east Asian players. But it would be too much too ask Poongko to just since he is only place 3rd at the Taiwan qualifier. 4th is better then 3rd right. Its not like he is there already. Or even try to get Ryan Hart since also place 3rd and was the highest place UK player in the UK qualifier. Nope lets give it to the Americans who doesn’t love a good old EG Rufus.

      Dude read the article again Poongko and Ryan Hart wasnt at that qualifier so why should they get it over Floe its not Capcoms fault the players dont attend or place high enuff to qualify Tokido came all the way to the Brazilian qualifiers to get his spots in the grand finals

    On the one hand I would much rather see a Poongko or PR Rog or a Kazunoko than Floe. On the other hand I think it is unfair to the other competitors (that actually qualified) to replace Happy Medicine with a player that is a legitimate threat to win the tournament but didn’t even qualify, so in that sense I am glad they picked Floe.
