Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Grand Finals Brackets Now Available, Fantasy Bracket Challenge Issued by Ultra David

As many of you are probably aware, the grand finals of the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary tournament series are set to go down this weekend in Burlingame, California. It’s here that the qualifiers from all across the globe will converge to prove they are the best in the world in four distinct titles: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012, Street Fighter x Tekken, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo. In anticipation of the event, Haunts over at Capcom-Unity has released the trailer that was shown to hype it up during the UK qualifiers (which you can find at the top of this article) and the full brackets for each game.

Make sure to click through each image if you’re having difficulty reading the names. Brazilian AE 2012 and SFxTK qualifier GR|Breno_Fighters is, unfortunately, unable to attend the competition, so his spots have been given to the respective third place finishers at the Los Angeles qualifier, AGE|Vangief and KS|JiBbo.

So now that we have a clear view of the playing field, the only logical thing to do is predict who’s going to win, right? Our friend Ultra David is already way ahead of you. He’s created a thread in our forums specifically for predictions, and has even put together a scoring system to determine the most correct bracket when all is said and done. Be sure to visit the thread if you’re interested and follow the steps in order to set up your fantasy brackets correctly.

Well, what are you waiting for? There’s bragging rights on the line here, people!

Brazil was the hypest crowd and unfortunately we won’t see our champion playing… Well, at least Tokido will represent us =/

re-posting this VERY IMPORTANT message from unnamed site that rhymes with scrubs

Breno Fighters from Brazil was supposed to have an AE spot, but his visa got denied. Here is why:

—It’s a damn shame that Breno couldn’t make it and represent our
country…. I was rooting for him so hard. Unfortunately the US
Consulate agent denied him his visa claiming that he didn’t “know of any
such company called Capcom” inspite of being shown a hotel reservation,
tickets, and the letter from Capcom which stated the purpose of the
    trip.—

So Vangief was chosen to fill in for Breno. Makes sense, Vangief lives near the venue, finished 3rd place in LA qualifier. So it wouldn’t cost a lot of money to fly him over.

However, POONGKO got SECOND place at Korea AE qualifier. Poongko will already be at the San Francisco Finals venue cuz he qualified for SFxTekken, so NO ADDITIONAL COST REQUIRED. Since Poongko got 2nd place, maybe that should put him ahead of Vangief who got 3rd?

Anyway, Vangief is a good player too. Capcom has good intentions, but time was running out and they had the fill the bracket quickly, so maybe they didn’t look at all the options possible.

Regardless, Capcom and their team did well in filling the bracket fast. Shows that they care about having a legit tourney.

If it were blizzard, they wouldn’t give a fuck and leave big holes in the bracket, like what they did with World of Warcraft tourneys back in 2010 where there were 3 byes in a 8 team bracket, even though some team gave 2 MONTHS notice that they wouldn’t be attending.

Poongko got third at the Taiwanese qualifier which had the spots for the grand final. The Korean tournament only gave out spots for the Taiwanese one.

    Daigo FTW.

Yep, it’s a damm shame Breno_Fighters can’t make it to the event.
I was there at the Brazil Qualifier event. The crowd was the hypest ever,
specially when he beat Tokido in the Grand Finals.

Neither Capcom nor Breno can’t be blamed for this.
From what I hear of Portal Versus, Capcom did all they could to help him attend the event,
including trying to reason with the consulate. So, props to them.

And i think that Breno never got a Visa before because there was never any need for it.
Let’s face it, it is VERY EXPENSIVE to travel to the US. So, why put yourself to so much
trouble to get a US Visa (which btw is a major pain in the ***) if you’re
not gonna need it or can’t afford the trip?

The real blame goes to the F*CKING CONSULATE which denied his
visa based on just pure ignorance and skepticism.

I agree, the consulate seems very incompetent. =(

I was really looking forward to watching Breno Fighters play at SF finals too, the way he defeated Tokido in Brazil was freaking AMAZING. At that time I felt he was the best Cammy in the world.

I’m sure Brazil tourneys will get Evo seeding points, they deserve it. Huge attendance, high quality stream, very hype and high level matches. So I’m looking forward to watching more hype SF4, KOF and Marvel matches from Brazil next year.

While its a shame that Breno Fighters couldn’t make it, its better for the tournament. He would have gotten steam rolled by this competition. His win over Tokido was extremely crude and it was obvious that his nerves get the best of him. He just isn’t on the level of the rest of these players yet.

    • MikeTysonQuotes

“His win over Tokido was extremely crude and it was obvious that his nerves get the best of him ”

lol pathetic excuses that Tokido himself would never make. Tokido lost fair and square and he gave props to all his opponents. Like a true samurai, he never makes excuses.

It’s beyond me why you would think that a great Cammy player would do worse than a Zangief that’s paired up against Akuma for his first round match.

      • http://twitter.com/meowklaski Ryan

Read the quote you included in your own reply…I made no excuses for Tokido. Breno deserved to be at this weekend’s tournament because he beat Tokido fair and square. I’m not insinuating anything by calling his matches crude. They were just very sloppy and inpercise.

Its beyond me why you would call him a great Cammy player. Like I said, he is definitely an up-and-comer to keep you eye on, but the dude had an extremely weak vortex, he didn’t know his safe jumps, and he was obviously extremely nervous. Vangief will almost certainly lose to Infiltration, but he can fend for himself in losers at least. The only guy who wouldn’t maul Breno is Problem X.

I know you’re tight with Breno or something, and I understand you pulling for your dude, but be realistic. If the best player from my scene made it to this stage, of course I’d be going crazy for him…but he’d go 0-2 in a heart beat.

I have hard time picturing someone “crude-ing” out a win against one of the best players in the world, in grand finals no less. That match is up, right?
