SSFIV:AE 2012 – Quick Tips Episode 2 Ryu Option Select Ultra + Ublockables

RyuApprentice has recently uploaded episode 2 of his Super Street Fighter IV Quick Tips series. This episode simplifies Ryu’s jump-in ultra option select. Instead of using a jump roundhouse followed by Metsu Hadoken, he simply uses the Metsu input to get a jumping fierce option select instead. He also included two Ryu unblockable setup videos, one showing a corner unblockable on Makoto, and another showing an unblockable tatsu setup.

Its an ugly game but SF2 knew how to put out good music, the remixes are better.

    SF2 is fucking beautiful.

sf2 is outdated and overrated. its still a good game, but not great. even with all its faults sf4 is still a better series, though not as far in sf evolution as sf3ts, but we all know how good that series worked for capcom.

sf4 is better than sf2 lololololol

Saying things that are good and popular are overrated is overrated. SF2 was a game changer and you must be a newfag not to recognize that.

        • OmegaNITRO

Yes, it was a game changer. 20 years ago. Using that fact to defend anything said about it now is just stupidity.

        • Christopher Wrightson

          SF2 was a game changer yes…

So was the first invented motor car. So what?

They both were ground-breaking moments for their time yet every conversation I have about buying a car isn’t going to entice me to drive let alone purchase that first motor car nor is every game discussion going to praise SF2 anymore then it already has up to this point. Great job. They made a great product many years ago and it did well.

Compared to the standards of today’s games and what is considered “modern and fun” by a vast majority of gamers however, it fails to hold the hype, fun, and consistency that it had in past times and that’s to be expected. It’s old, a little stale, and completely unforgiving; fun for some less of a fun time and more a constant battle with frustration and execution for the vast majority.

SF4 has been a popular game.  SF2 changed video gaming.  SF2 is not overrated, it’s historically relevant.

      • pootnannies

troll bait? whatever i’ll bite. sf2 series is a tiny bit overrated but it’s miles more fun than sf4 for most people. in sf2 we didn’t need to worry about 4 frame buffer landing frames and do OS bullshit because of invincible backdashes/FABD from A SIMPLE JUMP IN. and 3s is amazing but good luck getting the crowd to follow behind you on that statement.

        • OmegaNITRO

No, you had to worry about things like random dizzies, variable throw damage, inescapable throw setups, and randomly unblockable air tatsus.

SF2 was a great game. But yes, it’s overrated. Fighting games have made leaps and bounds past it in design and mechanics.

Saying it’s more fun ‘for most people’ than SF4 is ridiculous, as ‘most people’ playing Street Fighter are playing 4, NOT 2.

Complaining about the bullshit in this game as if whatever game you like is perfect and free from such things is just dishonest and hypocritical. Every game has its bullshit, and neither ST nor 3S are exceptions to this.

You’d think the players of the old SF games would stop being salty about SFIV ending the era of those games and get over it by now. Oh well. *shrug*

SF4 is floaty crap made by dimp’s. I prefer SSF2 turbo to it by a long shot.

          • OmegaNITRO

….ok? Opinions. You’re entitled to them. You’re welcome.

  • Bill Cosby

How the fuck is that midscreen tatsu an unblockable? This game deserves no respect.

    • pootnannies

looks like at least shotos can get out of it by simply crouching but yeah, we need sfxt to be magically better after the update or another company’s fighter to be more popular than sf4 to get rid of this thing. it’s lingered for far too long with too many chances to make it better and um yeah, they don’t know what they’re doing at dimps/capcom. there’s the ONO! program that lets you edit the game but i have no idea how to use it.

    • http://twitter.com/Darkforge Legion

I haven’t picked up sf4 since this unblockable craze started but looking at that video i just scratch my head… what a joke.

Honestly those unblockables don’t look real, it’s obvious by watching that someone else is controlling the 2nd player and maybe just getting hit on purpose or doesn’t know how to properly block crossups. If the dummy was set on cpu and auto-block, then that would be another story…

    • Ahoyopl

That’s because AE doesn’t have “True” unblockables.
You basically have 1-frame to block the correct way, which is why they’re often called “hard to blockables”.
Of course the cpu can do this every time without fail.
      Real people? not so much.

    • Bill Cosby

You realize it shows the inputs, right?

    Ublock.
    No. U.

Those that don’t think SF2 was innovative are noob fanboys that have not played classics like SF2 or understand the way SF2 revolutionized 2d fighting.
