    Best. Fighting. Game. Ever.

Yes they also offer it for free on GGPO, kinda of a rip off

    • Larsson K

6 bucks isn’t a rip off, at least this is 100% legal

      • http://twitter.com/ThePhantomnaut Carlo Dela Cruz ナオトケ

But you still don’t get online play for an inferior port so it is a ripoff.

        • Oniros

It’s.not.a.port! Just a re-release of the old PC version.

          • http://twitter.com/ThePhantomnaut Carlo Dela Cruz ナオトケ

            Which is still a port.

          • Oniros

A port is what’s being done with Guilty Gear on XBLA: bringing to it an old game not previously available to the platform, sometimes with added features.

I re-release is giving to the public what what previously offered in that same platform. In this case this game was available for PC over a decade ago. Now is possible to find it again only though digital distribution this time.

SFA2 was originally released in the arcade.

The PC version is a port.
This is a re-release of the PC version, which is a port.

words are so funny and arbitrary.

            A re-release of a port.

    • http://www.squidoo.com/fightinggamesonline thec0re3@Fighting Games Online

GGPO is just an application. The only thing they offer is to play other people online using the games which technically are not free if you don’t own them outright.

      • http://twitter.com/ThePhantomnaut Carlo Dela Cruz ナオトケ

A good application where you can play online.

        • JlHADJOE

That’s true, but it doesn’t legitimize using downloaded roms with GGPO.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Faillace/500818223 Ryan Faillace

True, it is free if you steal it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/peraltasoto Gustavo Peralta Soto

A port with no Online? why would i ever buy that if i can play it on ggpo.

    • Oniros

      Errr it’s not a port.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Trance.S.Core Technika Core

The most useless thing to ever be released on a PC in 2012

    • Oniros

      Fuckin crapcom!1! y do u release dis shit!!1! U sux ballz.

      • Simeon

        He has a point, idiot.

      • insub0rdination

Why would anyone want to play an only single player fighting game?

  • http://www.facebook.com/barry.bernsten Barry Bernsten

Gustavo and Technika, you two do realize that this is the old PC version from the 90s being offered, and not a new game right? Its not a new port.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Trance.S.Core Technika Core

A re-release on a platform that requires different specs counts as a port.

It’s literally just a re-release. A re-release on a platform it had already been ported too. Pretty much like what happened with Final Fantasy 7 recently. That already existed. They just added achievements. There was no porting happening. At all. Anywhere in these re-releases. Ever.

        • Oniros

Still, I applaud this move from Capcom. The PC needs more fighting games!

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gethoff-Mahfacebuk/558552166 Gethoff Mahfacebuk

The PC already HAD this game.  It already existed on the PC.  So they’re not ADDING any games to the PC.  You already had access to this.

          • Oniros

Please post a link where I can buy this game digitally apart from GOG today. I’m waiting.

  • http://twitter.com/onReload onReload

considering it’s a port to PC back in the day, it’s probably pretty different, and weird…good for hardcore collector types n stuff

    • NaelAM

I owned this. It’s basically a neutered PSX port with just Arcade, Versus and Training modes.

      • http://twitter.com/onReload onReload

        well uh…arranged soundtrack? :|

        • NaelAM

Nope, just the original arcade soundtrack.

          • http://twitter.com/onReload onReload

jesus you can’t win with this damn release

  • SNAKE STICK

    cvs2 or gtfo

    Best Alpha game.

  • Cain_Marko

    Alpha 2 Gold was better.

    • Blk_Azn

Actually yea, I wish they would of added Alpha 2 Gold instead of just Alpha 2

    • RunningWild1984

Nobody played Alpha 2 Gold though.

      • Blk_Azn

I believe it was released only in Japan

        • http://www.squidoo.com/fightinggamesonline thec0re3@Fighting Games Online

I had it on PSX they added cammy :) and I believe it came with Street Fighter 2 Turbo also. My friend broke it on accident. Fun times.

  • ragnarok954

    Lame

  • http://twitter.com/windsagio windsagio

for the people saying ‘just do it on GGPO’, hows the licensing for that work, anyways?

    • Kevin Wark

Why should I care?  No ‘license’ is required to play the game.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=624930315 Jay Gannon

my dream game: Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper roster, Street Fighter Alpha 2 mechanics. Make it happen, Capcom.

    • http://twitter.com/poke133 Drago Umeharevich

SFA2 with a couple of tweaks could be the best SF ever (less damaging ACs, some Custom Combo nerfs).

      otherwise it’s a tie with ST :D

  • YourAshyAss_Elbows

Thats like paying 30 dollars for a free cup of water.

    • Simeon

      Nicely put.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jule.vortes Jule Vortes

Why can’t we just get CvS2 on XBL, and PSN?

  • Mihail Palov

Jesus with all these comments a person would think that capcom fans are either retards or capcom has hired slaves to advertise their games in every comment section on srk. Its obvious from the post info and the first couple of comments that this game was on pc before this release.

This release has no online is not a remake and has no extra features what so ever. They basically want to charge you 6$ for a 50 year old game with nothing new.

    • Oniros

*gasp* God forbid putting it there for people who want it.

  • RELLIK .exe

Well thats one of the cheaper DLC bundles from Capcom…

  • petran79

I’d prefer a re-release of  Samurai Showdown II (it had CD-Audio) and King of Fighters 99, which was released only in Asia.

    • http://twitter.com/ThePhantomnaut Carlo Dela Cruz ナオトケ

       Shodown*

      • petran79

         Sodomize would fit better actually

  • http://twitter.com/Darkforge Legion

This is likely bad.. maybe expect to see this game taken down on GGPO now even though it’s a bad port with no online.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TIC7WNRSMFBSCLF6OR6JQJAAZA sb

not gonna happen this game is already on PSN sense like forever all 3 of them Third Strike and the Marvel Origins games are still there even

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/tsdcs TS

I would imagine the artwork and the soundtrack are bigger selling points for this game than the actual game itself.

    • Kevin Wark

Pretty much.  This is the last version I would ever want to play on my PC, and that includes the SNES version.

  • CrimsonMoonMist

I’ll buy it in hope of seeing other old Capcom games on there like the Mega Man X PC ports.

  • NDLT

I was hoping it was the gold ver. just to play Cammy. Guess not this time. :/

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=565176676 Nugent Dart

    no online?  what a joke

  • CrimsonMoonMist

A bit of a warning for those wanting the soundtrack, it’s not actually the game’s soundtrack but the remixes from the “Underground Mixxes” album.
