Injustice: Gods Among Us Behind the Battles Developer Diary – Gameplay Footage, Character Trait Button, and More

The staff over at NetherRealm Studios recently put together a quick developer diary to discuss their experiences creating Injustice: Gods Among Us, the DC Universe fighter slated for release next year. They touch on a few of the game’s visual aspects before discussing the control scheme, which includes a character-specific Trait button that allows each fighter to do something unique. From Cyborg’s health charging to Nightwing’s ability to switch fighting styles, these traits will definitely be a huge part of each character’s gameplan.

Make sure to watch until the very end, as the video also contains a quick in-game preview of The Joker.

I know I’m not the only one who loled at Grundy tossing Batman around like a lifeless sack of garbage, while Batman just…accepts it.

Light…medium..heavy ….*sigh* another game created to satisfy gamers who make little to no effort to learn it

    • d3v

Or maybe the front page monsters need to realize that some of the deepest, best fighting games ever made are those with light to heavy chains (MvC2, VSav, GG, etc.)

      • KubikiriTurkojin

nobody but the US liked mvc2, its ass as a game, gtfo with your bs.

        • http://twitter.com/Darkforge Legion

yep as is mvc3. But nrs has my approval for removing the stupid block button.. do the same for MK please.

        • d3v

Salty that you can’t make money playing your “balanced” fighters?

          • shadow111431

That was pretty immature of you.

    • shadow111431

You say that as if hitting light, medium, then heavy triggers a universal combo. It actually does NOT. It’s not like the magic series in Marvel or SfxT. It’s literally just a light hit, a medium hit, and a heavy hit.

Fighting games need to be accessible for new players, or else they will die off like they have in the past.  Accessibility does not guarantee a shallow game, and more buttons does not guarantee a deeper game.

  • stevenreal18

Mortal Kombat already had accessibility. I started playing fighting games more in late 2010. I really got in to SSFIV and was interested in playing MVC3 to see how it was. I was disappointed. I did not like the feel of the light, medium, heavy layout. What helped get me into street fighter and more fighting games was the feel of the full depth layout of fighters. It seemed like there were many new possibilities and things to learn like real martial arts or somethin. When I discovered Marvel vs Capcom 2 (after getting MVC3) I was like what the fuck type of sequel was 3.

looks like you dont know what ur talkin about.Less buttons don’t mean less possibilities necessarily.I doubt a game by this company will be extremely deep though…

      • stevenreal18

You may have a point about the less buttons thing I admit I havent played BlazBlue but that game looks more polished than MVC3. It looks like its on another level with its links, timing, and how it feels(but I havent played it just speculating). What I was trying to show with my comment is that this 3 button LMH layout solely for “accessibility” is not what attracts me who may be considered a “newer” fighting game player. The depth and presentation of games like SFIV or MK9 seemed to evolve my interest in fighters. Presentation with some type of story probably helped lead me in.

  • samirerre

it would be very werid to block in this game.

  • cammylover

I like L,M,H, and S button lay outs. As a old Guilty Gear XX player and Blaz Blue this makes me more likely to play this game. I’m hopeful of the high execution combos this this game will have, or at least what I hope it has.

  • MK9ISBETTERTHANSFIV

This will be so much better than that garbage ass game MVC3 that its not even funny, and before you capcom players try to run into this game at the begging of its life span and win some fast cash like you did in MK9 beware the MK9/NRS/INJUSTICE community has our own top players now that will mop the floor with any scrub.

    • 100ctual

man what an angry comment. you need to lay off the roids lol.

  • KubikiriTurkojin

neatherrealm and all their games are all fucking terrible. also as bad as mvc3 might be, its not complete and utter shit like mk9 or any nr game.

  • Garrett Jones

I really hope they include a non-cinematics mode. I understand the importance of including it and I’m glad they are, but that shit will make tourneys a fucking joke.

i dunno, I think the cinematic supers will probably used as much as X-Ray moves are in MK and if you ever watch a MK stream or major they hardly ever use those moves at high level.  As for the stage cinematics… yea I mean they will be cool at first but after seeing them a thousand times they will get boring and repetitive kinda like fatatlities but who knows
