Today in Japan is the finals of the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Official National Tournament, Kakutou Matsuri (“Fighting Festival”). 8 players for each of the tournament games – Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition ver. 2012 and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition – have battled their way through the brackets and qualified to compete at Nicofarre in Tokyo.

Each tournament game has the same format for the finals. Each 8-player bracket will be double-eliminations, best 2 of 3 game matches, with the grand finals match being best 3 of 5.

As with the winners of the qualifying tournaments in the US and across the world, the 1st and 2nd place finishers for SFXTK and SSFIV AE and the 1st place finisher in 3SOE will qualify to attend the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament Series Grand Finals on December 8 in San Francisco, California.

capcom making people pay to watch stream thats just shameless. now ill prepare to be bombarded by hate for stating that.

    • ButtonsPressingThem1337Like

Those who would watch stream are more than likely the type to pay for it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashley-Byrum/100000604683967 Ashley Byrum

i see a charge for a HD stream being acceptable but this is for streetfighter 25th aniv. and its to promote and show thanks for the people who supported capcom and then they charge the fans to watch the stream? Niconico is horrible in more than one aspect one of the worst streaming sites. I Dont disagree w/ paying for a stream for higher quality viewing but sub-par quality shoulda been free .

        • JasinWalraven

nothing should be free. the computers were not free, the internet wasn’t free. The people running the stream should be compensated. If you want to see the stream pay for it. If not, so what. you dont have a right to the labors of others for free

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashley-Byrum/100000604683967 Ashley Byrum

Capcom is not a poor company and among all the leading publishers these days they are doing rather well. Why? Because people like me buy most of there games even the craptacular ones like SFxT and RE6. This event was to celebrate and give back to the community that supports them and buys their games. If they cant afford to have live streams of the event then maybe they shoulda took it out of some of the award money rofl. Im all up for paying for HD streams i did for evo and i have for other things in the past but the entire Japanese streaming scene in general is greedy and only does it for profit mostly. This just doesnt include the FG scene;others as well.

          • http://twitter.com/Jebril Pedo Bear

You talk like a greedy ass CEO, shut up dude. It’s entertainment, they’re mostly having fun, even the people streaming it. Besides isn’t this tournament to promote Street Fighter? You would think if they wanted to promote SF they wouldn’t charge us to view the tournament.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Justin-Archer/747006074 Justin Archer

I hope no one pays for this so Capcom will eventually learn what NO means.

    • Rahavic

Yeah its real confusing that Capcom is the one who’s putting these tourneys on and its only in Japan where the stream gets charged for. I would think that Capcom would be covering all the costs of the event? There’s no prize payout or anything, maybe they are just covering travel fees for some of the players and the venue? All good though we got LA quals tomorrow which I’m hyped for, but would of liked to watch this one as well.

Not gonna bash Capcom for a while in hopes that Rival Schools with netplay gets released lol (like not bashing them will make it happen or something but meh.) This is just really odd and confusing to me is all.

      • suproman

I know y’all don’t like to believe this, but for the size that Capcom is they are not rich. They have a lot of development cost to cover (not to mention all the other things due to their size), due to the fact that they, release and spend on experimental triple A titles and if something bombs the others that do well have to make up for it. Right now they have nothing to fall back on and people still want this huge company to be risky. Now (hypothetically) if it were cash cow Nintendo I can understand bitching about a Rival Schools resurrection. Also I have a question out of curiosity, what would it take for Capcom (in all honesty, like be real and down to earth) to make a largely profitable new entry in the Rival Schools series and stay true to its fans?

        • JasinWalraven

shhhhh, leftist don’t understand things like costs……………………..they watch MSNBC that pays it female employees 1/2 as much as men

          • SohoX

You’re trying so hard to sound intelligent, but it’s not really working.

I’ll give you a 7/10 for the effort.

        • http://twitter.com/Jebril Pedo Bear

They aren’t AS rich anymore cuz the shit they’ve been making lately is shit. And everyone’s getting sick of their DLCrap. But Capcom has tons of money and streaming this tournament is not ‘draining’ their resources, trust me on that.

      • JasinWalraven

It’s as simple as the Japanese fans are willing to pay, americans are not. Even when the stream is given for free here, the dick still use adblock.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=44806028 Aristides Molina

Nico Nico is charging for the stream not Capcom. Japan streams are never free.

  • http://twitter.com/GregoGraham Grego Graham

    Japan never has free streams

  • ddddddddd ddddddddd

Tokido’s already qualified through Brazil….does the trip then go down to 3rd place?

    • http://twitter.com/g13flat9th Mr. anon

Was about to ask the same thing.  Shouldn’t 2nd and 3rd qualify?  Tokido shouldn’t have even played.

  • Bavo Bruylandt

Go Umehara. Best bet is that it will be Fuudo and Daigo getting tickets. Which would be pretty representative of the Japanese skill.
Daigo will lose again to Fuudo though

    • fphed

Lose again? He already beat him 2-0 in the winners final.

    • http://twitter.com/TheAsianLoner Who… Me?!

I was thinking this too but Fuudo got 3-0′d. @_@

      • Bavo Bruylandt

yep got the order wrong. Apparantly Daigo’s Ryu found new technology against Fuudo’s Fei. It has been the other way around for over 2 years

  • http://twitter.com/GregoGraham Grego Graham

They should actually let the third brazilian qualify for sfxt instead of the 3rd japanese player they shouldn’t have even let tokido play in sfxt in brazil he just took that spot from someone down there, i guess it would of been breno anyway who got a ticket so i guess give it to MOV he is going for 3rd strike anyway too

  • http://twitter.com/qweed Martini Whoelse

Daigo didn’t lose a single game, and he beat the 7 best with Ryu. Nicely done.

To all the morons blaming Capcom for the stream cost:

There has been plenty of Capcom qualifiers and they’ve all been free. The only changing factor here is niconico and Japan. They ALWAYS pay for things like this. Nothing to do with Capcom.

Dang Daigo. How the **** do you NOT lose a SINGLE GAME?! Anyway, Tokido already qualified by robbing Brazil for all of them, he SHOULD NOT have entered. I hope the SFxT slot goes to 2nd and 3rd place instead.

  • Ryu_and_Ken

why didn’t Daigo enter SF 3rd strike with Ken and also he should have entered SF X Tekken with Ryu and Ken
