That’s part of what killed arcades.

      • http://twitter.com/lchipoo Ichipoo

Not all of us are fortunate enough to live near an arcade where the owner actually cares about the condition of their games and actually gets the newest arcade games. =

      • http://twitter.com/MortalKomment MortalKomment

People can blame the hardcore fighting gamers for the demise of arcades, but the fact is that arcades couldn’t market the casual gamer anymore.  That’s not the FGC’s fault.  If you pull in a line of ten people in front of your MvC2 but you can’t get a single quarter into your “Turtles in Time” machine, you’re not gonna last.

That big sword coves only half the screen, why not the entire screen? Just make it flash white for a second…

Why does japan think random gibberish sounds cool as the title of a fighting game?

Seriously it’s like they open an english dictionary at random pages and pick the first words they see.

      Yo Engrish translations

They don’t know a lot of English, you can tell by the massive amount of Engrish contained in the game. Unless they are actively engaged in using English, the Japanese students will forget everything they learned in school same with most of us and our second languages. Remember English is also exotic and quite a few Japanese people think it sounds cool so it’s used in titles, media and apparel.

Part of the title makes sense, all the stagestake place at night, so the Under Night part would suggest that some sort of birth (perhaps of an evil creature or force) takes place under the night sky. I’m just speculating though, I haven’t seen all of the stages.

      • shadow111431

The stages are just random ass places like parking lots and alleys.

        • http://twitter.com/TehRandomAngel Kendall Kildare

lol Doesn’t matter where they take place as long as it’s around night time I guess. xD

read up on the story for the game

          • http://www.facebook.com/Mikaidesu Juan Lau

also where the fuck do street fighter stages take place in bath houses and wrestling cage matches or at an iron works area alright then dont try making sense of where stages take place in a fighting game

          • http://www.facebook.com/Mikaidesu Juan Lau

same could even be said for all other fighting games

          • shadow111431

At least Street Fighter locations have things going on in the background. Besides, most of the Street Fighter stages ( except for sfxt stages) are based upon locations around the world that relate  to each characters heritage. It’s a WORLD tournament for Pete’s sake. UNIB stages are so un-hype and lackluster.

    • BurstZX

Actually the title makes sense if you look at the storyline.

I actually look forward to the random pre-match engrish. Even managed to work some of the quotes into my everyday banter.

Congratulations! You’re the 1000000th person to make that joke! You win a used copy of SFxT!!

Doesn’t matter. We still love Terry bogard’s quotes, no matter how much he butchers it.

A lot of people who can’t understand Japanese seem to prefer listening their characters speak in Japanse despite it effectively being random gibberish to them too for some reason.

      • suproman

It’s not random gibberish, they are speaking fluently in their own language. The expression, tone and overall sound quality also contribute to a voice acting experience. One of the only things left is comprehension of the dialogue, which captions take care of, which a lot of people prefer over poor quality of the other three things I mentioned. But that’s not the point, you shouldn’t argue using double negatives.

        • http://twitter.com/Adnan199X Adnan

I said it was “effectively” gibberish *to the group of players I highlighted*. I am aware Japanese is an actual language…

Regardless in a lot of games (especially ones in this sub-genre of fighting games) the actual words being said are just plain nonsensical, irrespective of what language they happen to be said in.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Mikaidesu Juan Lau

the name has an actual relevance to the game if you actually read up on the story for it
