People are still playing it? Not in the way most people are saying it, I just quite literally thought it was done. Since they’re not attacking the issues I was concerned with, I’m not coming back.

100% not buying the next Capcom title until they address the garbage they’ve been releasing and show some kind of progress.

        I’m a Tekken player.

And to top it off, I’d go ahead and say 3s is possibly the best fighting game ever created, they’re just catering to trash, so their games get worse. As their games get worse, the intellect of their audience goes down. As shown by the average SRK member when compared to 5 ~ 10 years ago.

        • http://www.facebook.com/brileymesser Briley Messer

Chun Fighter 3 is not one of the best games ever.  It had a great thing going, and COULD have been the best ever, but that game is an absolutely unbalanced mess.  A rebalanced 3S with more characters could potentially be the best fighting game of all time, however.

          • http://twitter.com/just6822 just6822

While fair, that’s essentially how the americans played it. Almost all the recent footage out of japan is filled with Oros, several Remy players, Necro, Ibuki, Hugo…

if you look at any tournament, Yun Ken and Chun are actually equally represented if not represented LESS than the lower tier heroes. Times have changed alot in that game, and it’s still being innovated whereas SF4 has already hit it’s plateau.

          • OmegaNITRO

Because you’ve looked into the future and seen that there’s nothing left to be done in SFIV right? Or are you referring to Vanilla, because yeah, that has (since it’s been replaced).

AE 2012, however, hasn’t even come close as far as I can tell.

        • thirdstrikesucks

I think you meant 3rd strike is the worst fighting game ever created

Can we have a no fucking gems mode please ?, or at the very least a handful of default gem load outs that consist of the day 1/non dlc gems, excluding assists gems (for obvious reasons) and defense gems seeing as the last thing this game needs is characters living longer ?.

On the positive side it looks like they buffed the length of Pandora, it might actually be useful now

    • http://www.facebook.com/matte.lindsay Matthew Lindsay

You can already select no gems in matches.

      • J0hnick

I know but its a long winded process, and you cant force your opponent to do the same online, plus gems are banned in almost all tournaments.

Let the ranked players have them, even if they had player matches with no gems it would be something.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Timothy-Ian-McMillan/100003757326579 Timothy Ian McMillan

Selecting no gems is a simple process of pressing “left, left” at the gem selection screen.

When you install the tournament patch, there is already a blank gem set for each character.

    • AriesWarlock

You can tweet Ono for a no gems mode.

is this listing of gems on eventhubs outdated?

        http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2012/feb/23/gems-list-street-fighter-x-tekken/

I haven’t really been keeping up with it but it says it was updated in May, dunno if that was still earlier than the last patch. I was going by this when I made that comment; in my opinion having a gem available for auto throw escape that only takes up 1/6 of a block of meter is too much, even if it takes all three slots

        • Chocofluffy

The last console patch which addressed the assist gems was at the end of July, meaning that data is two months off. For PC however we are still waiting for the next big patch which should make us up to date with current consoles.

Not enough changes. The problem is that they recycle SF4 material, instead of planning everything from scratch to fit the new system. From normals to everything else.

You are complaining about not enough changes, when they haven’t posted all the changes. Derp.

    • Nyanmar

There are obviously more changes, but how else would they keep interest
alive for 2 months?  It’s going to be one of those weekly/bi-weekly blog
posts with a few updates each time until release like with SF4.  Now whether or not these changes can save the game is a different matter.

Yeah, they should have started from scratch without recycling anything!

Just like Tekken Tag Tour- oh wait.

Just like Dead or Aliv- oh wait.

Just like King of Figh- oh wait.

Just like Soul Calib- oh wait.

Hmm…all those games recycle stuff.  Lots of stuff.

Actually, compared to those games, SFxT has the most brand new characters and fighting styles.  More than half the roster in SFxT is brand new.

      • Rahavic

There’s that boner, I was wondering where it was. Hi Emezie! :)

      • kagadotto

Most of the models and movements from SF version are the same shit from previous games. Even bones, animations, UV’s and textures were taken from SFIV and SSFIV , also some textures were worsen.

At least DOA5 all the game engine and chara deseign were changed and the dlc’s are not included inside the disc.

So you can tell me who is the worst.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Timothy-Ian-McMillan/100003757326579 Timothy Ian McMillan

….oh, it’s you.  Guess you conveniently forgot less than half the game’s roster is from SF4, and those that are received new animations.

      • http://handsomefatman.com/ Carlos Alexandre

SF4 material doesn’t just mean roster. But hey, nice try.

        • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

The whole frame data is different, mechanics are different. There are no true vortexes, a lot less option-selects, no FADC, no revenge meter, reversals don’t auto-correct as easily, anti-airs require better spacing to work, throws are slower and have shorter range, walkspeed is universally slower making it possibly for bad footsie character to play footsies vs Ryu/Chun Li and making the frametrap game revolve around CADC, launcher etc. cross-cancels and tech roll mean safe jumps are not as effective and that the game emphasis is on the footsie and neutral game instead of the knockdown game.

Basically, anyone playing the game knows that the only thing similar with AE is the graphics and the returning characters. But we all know you have never bought SFxT and never played it more than 30 minutes so your ignorance on the subject is no wonder.

I suppose this is how foolish I would sound like if I tried to talk out of my ass in the SG or Marvel boards. Thankfully, I know better than to try and talk about games I don’t like, play or know anything about.

          But hey, nice try.

          • http://handsomefatman.com/ Carlos Alexandre

All the differences you’re mentioning are still ones compared to SFxT’s base, SF4, which isn’t that great a game to begin with. So that’s the first way you’re clueless.

The second is that you’re actually touting some of those changes as better, like the slower walk speed (already way too slow to make dashing matter) and the slower throws (lol). The ones that are actually better would, if slotted into SF4, just make it closer to a fighter worth playing.

Speaking of which, there’s a better fighter for anything SFxT brings to the table. Chains are handled better in just about any ArcSys game or even Marvel 3, as the chains there don’t do the SF4 thing of not canceling unless linked. There are better footsies in ArcSys or the Melty Blood games. But you’re the guy who also said SFxT because it has mind games and kick buttons, so whatever, keep being a clueless waste of oxygen.

          • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

Hahaha, you don’t remember my quote. I said one of the things I really like about SFxT is the resource management. Yes, it’s present in many games but not as rich sometimes.  The thing is, there is SO MUCH to THINK about. It’s exactly like MK9′s meter management but even more hardcore because you have a lot more options/solutions than just “armor EX move or combo breaker”. And the meter, health and time are all interrelated + it’s a team game so everything has 4 instances to take into consideration (your 2 chars + their 2 chars).

Only thinking about meter for example: “Is it worth spending my last bar for switch canceling or should I raw tag/fish for a launcher and keep my meter so that my low health partner can eventually alpha counter and safely raw tag back out of danger?  How much meter will I and my opponent have left after this combo/blockstring/reset? My opponent will soon have one meter, that means if I use a multi-hitting move or safe jump he can alpha counter and safely raw tag to his high health character. That meter also means he can do a safe DP tag cancel and reverse the pressure on me so maybe I should try to bait a DP. Ok I have
2 meters, do I use Super, double switch cancel, use an EX move ass out? Is it worth alpha countering? Should I really switch to my partner at this point and time? Could alpha counter xx switch kill my opponent? Does my anchor need this meter more than my point character? I have 3 meters, do I use cross-art to get rid of all my opponent’s grey health or do I use cross-assault to level my teams health and live to fight another 10 seconds? I have no meter at all, if I activate pandora after this knockdown I will have infinite meter so I will be able to EX CADC into an overhead/low mixup that could win me the match.”

And all that is just for meter. But you need to ask yourself similar questions when you manage your team’s health or are trying to prevent your opponent from recovering his health. And similar questions regarding the time on the clock, position advantage and gem activation.

When you’re playing SFxT at high levels all those questions are on players minds every second and at the same time they need to pay attention to the usual spacing while playing the neutral/footsie game. It might be boring to watch for some but it’s extremely satisfying to play well and win while  managing all those variables.

The problem though is that we can’t see all that stuff when we watch 2 players play. All we see is two characters dancing back and forth trying to get something going which is boring. But inside both players minds there is a huge mindgame war going on like an RTS. And I know you truly believe this is the case for every fighting game out there and  that’s
somewhat true, but it’s just not on the same level of depth and complexity. MK9 and TTT2 don’t require nearly as much managing as SFxT for example.

          • http://handsomefatman.com/ Carlos Alexandre

The complex game of simultaneous meter/time/tag/mixup/etc. management isn’t new to or done best by SFxT. Part of that “isn’t done best by” is, yes, that SFxT is, visually and mechanically, a sequel to SSF4, a game which did a looooooot of things very, very wrong.

  • H_Magnus

Well it’s a good start, I’ll give them that.

Fix the gem selection method and I’ll gladly give you my money, Ca$hcom.

Looking good, and for that price I’ll check it out

  • fiks

well these are a decent start but neutral and risk/reward in pressure will still probably generally be dicks
also gives no hope that they’ll actually make most of the cast decently strong instead of just doing boring irrelevant nerfs to the top characters

  • http://www.facebook.com/verasan1 Edgar Vera

they never fixed the time outs make the time go slower capcom :D

    • http://twitter.com/Doopliss_Swe Doopliss_SWE

That doesn’t fix the ACTUAL problem, that matches drag on forever. In fact, slowing down the timer is about the most stupid thing they could do.

      • http://www.facebook.com/thomas.manson Thomas Manson

I think you could solve that problem by reducing the STEEP damage scaling system. Even if it was some small change like stopping scaling at 50% instead of 10%. Think about it; this game isn’t Street Fighter IV. It’s a long-combo, drag-out-the-hits game like MVC or KOF.
Yeah, and I’m aware of the problems that would occur by doing this, but it would solve the pacing problem for sure.

    • Bama_X

      Shorten the stage, increase damage!

      • JasinWalraven

Do links instead of boosts, then you have the damage you need.

        • Bama_X

Oh no shit!! Mr. Killian and the pros have been saying that ever since the game came out. I still say increase damage where needed.

        • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

lol not that I’m for reduction of stages and damage scaling. But linking
instead of chaining gives you around 10-20 more damage which is less
than a jab. So while it’s true that linking nets you more damage than
          ABC, the difference is laughable.

What they really need to do is increase the reward for linking, fishing
for specials AND keeping your character in and make all ABC chains fully
punishable and deal less damage.  This would discourage people from
using chains into launcher at footsie range and encourage smarter play
like crouching forward into special xx switch.

I think generally, EX moves, Throws and Cross-Cancels should also do
more damage. More characters need to have 150 damage throws and
characters who can’t combo after an cross-cancel xx switch should do
          200-250 damage from the cross-cancel.

I actually like Mk9 and i played it all of last year, but at this point the game is pretty horribly broken and I can’t take it seriously as a tournament fighter. It was fun while it lasted and good to smash around with friends but…

            Input bug.
            1 player advantage
Different sized stages giving character advantage
            Dat negative edge
            Dash nerf.
            KABAL!
            KENSHI…
            hitbox wierdness

Kabal if he wasn’t bad enough now has ability to go invincible.

Not random hate for MK it definitely has serious problem’s and I personally hope nrs have learnt because when the game dropped it did feel like a breath of fresh air.

          • http://twitter.com/MortalKomment MortalKomment

I appreciate that you expressed your opinion respectably, but I feel you’re misunderstanding MK9′s issues.

There’s a big difference between saying a game has problems and a game is broken.  For the most part, you’re right that the above things are problematic (with two exceptions), but they don’t break the game.  There are tricks to avoiding the input glitch; 1-player advantage only comes into play on neutral/plus attacks; Kabal and Kenshi players get beaten all the time in tournament; no good player is going to lose because of negative edge.

That said, the dash nerf actually helped the game’s balance.  The role of footsies is dramatically increased, and Rushdown characters (Cage, Sonya) are less ridiculous.  Yes, some stages favor other characters, but not to the point of changing the match-up.  Also, you can counterpick the stage if you lose.  The same goes for numerous games.  I actually like the stage dynamics.

I just don’t know how anyone can say a game is broken if there’s immense character diversity in the top 8s and good players are able to win consistently (and they’re mostly not Kabal players; the best Kabal in the world just got beaten in 2 consecutive times by a Kitana player).

Not hating on you, but I feel non-mk players have a dated outlook on the game and its scene: a lot of this stuff that you think makes our game broken is either adaptable or is straight-up not an issue anymore..

Player 1 advantage is uncompetitive no matter what normals it applies to.

Kabal’s projectiles come out on frame 1, therefore are unstuffable.  His ground saw comes out BEHIND his model, so it can’t even be teleport punished.  Perfect IAFs disable half the cast in the game and the dash nerf further cemented that bullshit into the MK bullshit hall of fame.

Any game, no matter how “uncompetitive” or “broken” it may be, can be considered to be competitive by some (because everyone’s working with the same bullshit).  But most people recognized the anti-competitiveness of MK9 a long time ago and that’s why the game is pretty much dead.

NRS didn’t even know about frame data when they designed the game. SMH.

But I suppose there will always be loyalists…

        • Hombre_Gran_Jefe

Sorry, I can’t do that.  What other way can I act pedulant for not apparent reason?  BTW, Injustice is just another MK without fatalities.  Your favorite game series sucks again.

          • http://twitter.com/MortalKomment MortalKomment

This is actually in reply to Marky.

You’ve explained why player 1 advantage is bad (and it is), but you haven’t explained why it makes the game uncompetitive.  I’ll say it again: good non-kabal players are winning consistently.  This fact completely contradicts your statement that this game is not competitive.  Also, dash-blocking works fine against Kabal’s zoning, cause eventually, he’s going to back himself into a corner and he’ll HAVE to rushdown.  His zoning is even the real problem.  It’s his nomad cancels.  Ando say his zoning disables half the cast is COMPLETELY ignorant.  The instant-air fireballs can be jumped; air-fireballs can be crouch-dashed.

Again, some of you guys just don’t understand the difference between “problematic” and “uncompetitive.”  You’re trying to pigeonhole something you don’t really understand (nor really desire to).  BTW, you can teleport punish the groundsaw.  Don’t know who told you otherwise.

        • AriesWarlock

I don’t have MK prejudice, I like MK, but man, they need to do something about normals chip damage. That shit is abusive.

This is are just a few changes. Capcom has done a good job listening to its community of players when things go down in the wrong way. AE was a mess and they balanced into what it is now and sfxt still has a ways to go but it’s getting and I believe it will eventually reach a point where everything makes more sense and things are fair for the current players and returning ones.

If you’re not with this game there are plenty of other games still out there to play. Nobody is gonna come to your house and kick down your door and force you to play this game at gunpoint.

For those who give it a chance again play it with an open mind and explore it. Have fun with it. That’s all really.

    • http://twitter.com/Darkforge Legion

if they pull a AE rebalance and pull it off I will give it another shot.

This is not about saving a dead game or taking resources from other games.

This is about making amends to fans of SFxT who have yet to receive any update love. At least Capcom doesn’t screw them over like the rest of the FGC.

But then again, hating on other games and their communities is what being in the FGC is about these days.

“At least Capcom doesn’t screw them over like the rest of the FGC.”

        ???

Pretty sure the game being released as it was, combined with the DLC fiasco, means Capcom screwed us over.

This update 10 months after the fact is just their last attempt to sell a few more copies before the surplus stock is put in the same landfill as E.T. for Atari 2600…

        • http://twitter.com/Gemakai Gemakai

           EXAGGERATING :D

        • ReoAyanami

Capcom certainly made mistakes when SFxT was released but that was a long time ago. Since then, they have continuously updated it, organized a tournament with an awesome prize, somewhat apologised and now a major revision based on fan feedback. It would take a miracle for them to earn enough new sales to even remotely make up for the support that they have given yet they didn’t abandoned the fans.

On the other hand, the FGC has constantly ridiculed the game and its players since release, often unprovoked. Till this day, people are still trying to prevent it from getting any updates, make false accusations against it and cast its community away. For 10 months!

Yeah, I’m quite sure about who are friends of SFXT fans right now and who’s not.

        • http://twitter.com/emezie Emezie Okorafor

          They were free for me.

Cause I went to EVO and supported the game.

          You shuld have tried that.

Also, my copy of SFxT came with 43 characters free.  12 <<< 43.  Not even close to "half".

          • http://www.facebook.com/brileymesser Briley Messer

Spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for transportation, lodging, food, entry fees, etc. does not make the DLC characters “free.”  That was far worse than the SpeedyGas card idea.  Plus, the 2v2 format killed the idea of most people who would have gone to Evo, cause you would also have to have a partner who is dedicated to the game and will also spend all that money.

          • Mash Harder

Yes that’s so cost effective. Plus I could support a massive cash grab of a “game”. Mmhmmm. Your logic is undeniable.

  • Bama_X

I think it would be in Capcom’s best interest to release brand new characters to go with this major update.  I know it prolly won’t happen, but if you want people to play this game again and see the changes, what better way to do that than to have new characters to try out along with all the updates.

    • http://twitter.com/roknin Jelani-Akin

Eh… I disagree.  They need to balance things out first, game already has 50+ they need to make sure aren’t broken in the update.  They can always add characters later.

      • Bama_X

Just like the SF4 series up to AE 2012 they added new characters to bring in the casual crowd, and it will be a good move for PR wise to give FG fans like 4 characters for free just to say sorry for all this. I agree with your argument, but I guess I look at things from the casual perspective though!

  • IamPSI

…Longer timer? Super animations go after the bell? Disable gems option? Balance?

Capcom: Didn’t catch that. Here, have some Ken Buffs, and some toeing-around-the-issue band-aids.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001165355123 Rayford Outland

Capcom has stated several times they’re not making a no gem mode. Some players use gems, some don’t. The ones who don’t can turn them off, but don’t expect capcom to do it. And the timer isn’t an issue, it’s the player. People keep doing baby combos instead of optimized stuff.

      • RenaTurnip

To agree with you, it’s been proven many times over that players can end a match very quickly. And, you know, this is without using damage monsters like Hugo or Cody.

With that said, there are lots of characters who individually make matches take forever… any character with a long multi-juggle that follows into a cinematic ending (I’m thinking of King, for the moment). That much isn’t necessarily the players’ faults no matter how optimized or poor their combos are.

        • http://twitter.com/emezie Emezie Okorafor

If people want to pick low damage teams, that’s their prerogative.  But, after a certain point, you really can’t blame slow matches exclusively on the game.  Player decisions (including those at the character select screen) are also a cause.

When you have Tekken characters that can do 400-500 damage easy… but then people want to choose Guile/Dhalsim teams all day…well…

          That’s the curse of choice.

          • Rahavic

The only real change I want to see in this game is to get rid of assists gems in ranked matches… Though I know it will never happen cause of all the people who payed for it exclusively for that reason. It could be allowed in player matches but ranked should have some standards

And it’s not me being a sore loser, it’s fact. If two equally good players fight the one with assist gem win because he gets so many get out of jail free cards.

I’m also surprised they didn’t decide to freeze the timer, rather change cinematics

    • JasinWalraven

I think they should be disabled for rank C and higher.

    • http://twitter.com/roknin Jelani-Akin

To be fair, assist gems were nerfed to hell.  Pretty much a detriment now, to the point I haven’t seen one since the patch.

    • ReoAyanami

Assist gems are worse than your typical boost gem or even no gems now.

      • tanjil

Ah really that’s cool, haven’t played in awhile. So how did they nerf the assist gem that auto techs for 1/8th of a meter. That was the one that I found ridiculous, especially when decent players would be using it themselves

        • ReoAyanami

The smallest was 1/6 of a bar but it takes up at least 1 bar now. Even if you block manually, it will still use the meter. Auto tech won’t use the meter if you do it manually but it’s not worth using up two or three slots for it.

  • GraveNate

I’m sure most would want:  gems removed, damage adjusted accordingly, auto combo removed , and longer timer.

Wishlist:  I’d like it if it graphic changes, something similar to the original 1st trailer, cleaner UI, comeback mechanic.  Hell, if they make it like exactly like AE2012′s system and looks, that would be a feat.

    • Ryan Peters

That would be terrible… SFXT should stand on its own as a unique game and I fully support the use of gems. They barely affect balance anyway, in fact they’re a strategic option.

      • http://handsomefatman.com/ Carlos Alexandre

It should use gems… that barely affect balance… but they’re strategic?

        • Ryan Peters

Gems are able to be used in a variety of ways. You can use them to cover up the weak spots of your character, or you could use them to augment their strengths. It affects balance in that it changes properties of the characters, but very, very slightly and for short periods of time after very specific conditions happen. It’s not an entire-match thing. It’s only a temporary, tiny boost.

          • http://handsomefatman.com/ Carlos Alexandre

See, that I understand. I was just questioning the whole “gems aren’t that important… also, totally important” bit.

But I forgive you Carlos Alexandre. You were brainwashed by the Skullgirls cult bandwagon. And when you realized SG’s future was uncertain, you followed the sheeps and turned into what you hated most: a marvel stream monster. That’s Moribund Cadaver levels of fucking stupid.

Since you know who I am on the forums, you’re aware I’ve been posting in the SG section, right? Including the recent online tourney folks have been organizing? Branch out your e-stalker sphere and you’ll see I’ve been paying money to rent Persona 4 Arena stations at a local venue to encourage people to play it (I’d do the same for SG and HDR if either were on disc).

I really want to see a speed increase to the game overall. Raising walk speeds for Paul and Bob is a good start and I hope they continue with that.

Walkspeeds in general feel much slower than in SFIV. Same with links; I fell like I have to wait years in between linking normals compared to SFIV. That’s the main problem I have with the game. If they made the game faster, I’d re-pick it up in a heartbeat.

    • http://twitter.com/TwitHatman TwitHatman

Unless they tripled Paul’s walk speed, he still has the slowest walk speed in the game. Snails walk faster than he does.

Bob’s I never had problem with. He has a problem opening up people though and, like most of the Tekken cast, you can jump in on him free.

Okay, so, you can recover less health on average, which is nice, and the boost combo slow-down is lessened … that helps the timer issue indirectly, and the other changes are nice aesthetically (active gem indication on character less gaudy, red health is now RED).

Still, they’ve got to work on Pandora and a few other things. Hopefully they’ve got time before the December release.

Ultimately, people who still want to see the game improve are going to appreciate an update, while the majority of the people who dislike the game are going to keep disliking it. I still hope we can see another batch of characters eventually, though. I still want to pit Q and Urien against Kunimitsu and Feng.

I sincerely hope they dont fuck this up. This is honestly their last chance to fix this mess of a game. If the game is still problematic after this, consider the game dead for good.

Reducing life recovery speed WONT stop time-outs! Its the fact that you have 2 characters, yet uses SF4′s timer. Its idiotic. Extend the timer by 30-50s and you’re good. Too bad Capcom seems to think this is false for some dumbass reason.

Extending Pandora’s duration wont do jack shit if you still DIE afterwards. I’ve been saying this since day 1. Just take off the auto death and Pandora is PERFECTLY FINE. Its nowhere near X-Factor’s level of brokeness yet it has 100 times more risk. Its dumb.

    • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

You say reducing grey health recovery speed won’t help reduce the time
outs but then you actually suggest EXTENDING the timer by 30-50 seconds.
Are you  serious? Do you  realize that the real problem is
that matches are too long and aka boring to watch? How the fuck is
adding more seconds to the clock going to help make matches end quicker?
It’s gonna do all the opposite.  And it doesn’t even guarantee that
time outs won’t happen. The reason there’s a timer is to prevent people
from turtling too much and playing keepaway all day. Eventually the
losing player needs to get on the offensive if he doesn’t want to lose
by time out. But by extending the timer by 50 seconds, then you give
people a reason to play even more lame and make the game less
      aggressive.

Look at TTT2. Rounds have only 80 seconds but red life recovers super slow. So there are much less time outs.

Pandora is ok imo. People are just too lazy to explore the mechanic and
find tech for it. I made a video showing that you can use Pandora to
punish a million things on reaction. I’m talking about stuff like dive
kicks, cross-ups, full screen projectiles and full screen raw tags. You
can full screen meterless punish those things for 400-600 damage. If
that’s not good then I don’t know what is.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Yan-Zhao/10516382 Yan Zhao

TTT2′s damage output is much higher, and combos dont eat the clock as much as those long ass SFxT combos. You cant run away and turtle in TTT2 as much, its not a footsie game like SFxT. Naturally less time gets wasted.

Pandora is NOT fine, people arent lazy to explore the “mechanics”. Theres nothing else to explore. People are smart enough to understand the concept of risk and reward. And pandora is extremely high risk for menial rewards. Maybe thats why none of the top players use it? Or anyone for that matter.

“Oh hey I can use Pandora for really situational combos! All for a bit of extra damage, and it must finish my opponent off or I lose! I also lose if I drop the combo!”

        • DRainn

          It’s not a comeback mechanic. . . It’s a swag mechanic.

Chicks dig those risky combo Pandora finishes, the only problem is that it’s hard to get to 25% health while stylin in the first place.

If they make it too much stronger, I’d rather see it removed. The aforementioned women will not flock to you after a desperate, thirsty, ‘comeback mechanic’ win.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Yan-Zhao/10516382 Yan Zhao

Not shit its not a comeback mechanic. Its a useless mechanic.

            And
even without the instant death, it’s still hardly “strong”. You lose
your partner just to have 8 seconds of infinite meter. Its a fair trade
            off thats not overpowered.

They dont need to do anything to it. Just remove the idiotic instant death and its at least useful.

          • DRainn

I don’t see why any game should give Advantage to a player for sucking. When you play sports, do you give the other team an extra player if they’re losing by 20 points? Helll no! So why should a player get an advantage for sucking at video games? Re

        • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

Sorry but you’re only showing ignorance with this post.

“You cant run away and turtle in TTT2 as much” lol this proves you don’t know anything about Tekken. Turtling is one of the most powerful tactics in the game. But the main reason why rounds don’t last as long is because whiff punishing is much more frequent (moves have more recovery). But TTT2 combos are not really stronger than SFxT.  130 dmg combo in TTT2 is the equivalent of 600 damage in SFxT. And some teams like Steve/Julia can do 750 for 2 bars in SFxT (without gems). Not even mentioning the numerous 700-1000+ damage resets.

TTT2 is not a footsie game like SF? Do you even know what “footsies” mean? It’s a term for the mid-range spacing/movement and the ability to bait and whiff punish, it’s not just fishing with pokes. Everything about Tekken is footsie oriented aka movement/spacing based. And there’s even more counter hit hunting than in SF.

“theres nothing else to explore” ok now you’re either trolling or not very familiar with fighting games in general. No serious player can think any game can be 100% fleshed out in less than a year.

Extremely high risk? What are you risking exactly? Losing the round you were already going to lose anyway? LOL  Pandora is used to comeback from behind. It’s a desperate move so if you care about the risk involved you need to think otherwise. 600  METERLESS damage from full screen is a mediocre reward to you? lol  Punishing the normally unpunishable is bad to you? Being able to anti-air the un-anti-airable is not good enough to you? Why do you want an easy
comeback mechanic that rewards players for being bad? Pandora in its current form allows come backs but requires skill, management and knowledge to use.

I don’t mind if they buff Pandora a little but increasing damage too much could possibly turn it into something really broken.

          • Zonder88

Luisito is correct guys! Pandora is so useful! Remember that time Justing Wong used Pandora to….oh…

Remember that time Ricky Ortiz used Pandora…

            remember that time Pandora…

            ….

            Oh.

          • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

Fail. Zoning = controlling space. You do so by either using projectiles
or moves that occupy either ground or air space.   In Tekken players
zone AKA CONTROL SPACE with homing attacks,  various evasive attacks and
just movement (korean backdash, sidestep and sidewalk is a way of
controlling space to make players whiff moves and punish them. Same as
Ryu throwing hadokens to make you jump and eat a DP).

Truth is Pandora is a complex and situational mechanic that has a lot of
requirements (25% health, meter, time on the clock etc). So even the
best players often don’t even think about using it because they are too
concentrated on managing something else. It requires a lot of thinking,
managing and knowledge and what I’m saying is that the level of play is
still too low to really know how useful Pandora can be or not. (Yes,
because even Justin Wong is new to this game! Just because he’s a pro at
AE doesn’t mean he knows everything about SFxT. Everyone is new and the
game is not even  1 year old so of course even top players have not yet
assimilated or explored everything the game has to offer).

So because Justin Wong and Ricky Ortiz haven’t implemented Pandora into
their game yet, that means Pandora sucks/is useless and has been
explored to death and has no potential? Ok…  but even if that were
true, Why the fuck would you even want Pandora to be used every match
like an Ultra? The fact that SFxT has no real comeback
mechanic is a strong point, not a weakness.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Yan-Zhao/10516382 Yan Zhao

Very well, thinking about it for a second, I will agree that Tekken is certainly more footsie heavy than I originally gave it credit for.

            …so what?

You’ve done absolutely nothing to disprove the time out issue. Congratulations, you won an useless argument. Now for the actual subject matter….

Sorry I cant reply, Im too busy face-palming at your essay on why Pandora isnt ass, and how amazingly wrong it is. I think you’re the one trolling there guy. You have to be if you think Pandora is good.

Pandora mode: 8 seconds, then you die. Unlimited super and NO DAMAGE SCALING. You’re welcome.

These are some great changes, looking forward to more update info. Still love the game, glad it’s getting some further attention (damn you UMvC3 for my disadvantaged Hsien-Ko).

SFxT introduced me into trying TTT2 which I love, despite needing tons of practice. King and Lili!

The damage scaling needs to change so that spending meter for super combos actually becomes worth it.

I played this game until Tekken Tag 2 came out now I’m addicted to that. As soon as the patch comes out I’m all over this…should be fun.

I for one am glad for this.  I was wanting to play and like this game and despite the fact that I’ve played it and put it down.  I keep finding myself wanting to come back for it.  I haven’t properly learned how to play it yet but I want to get back to my more “traditional” fighters, using that loosely, but something faster than SFIV.
