King of Fighters XIII to Be Made Free of Charge for PlayStation Plus Subscribers Starting October 9th

A recent post on the PlayStation Blog details what PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to in tomorrow’s update, and mentions one game in particular I’m sure many of you will find very appealing. Thanks in part to the efforts of publisher Atlus, King of Fighters XIII will be joining the list of free games the service makes available to its subscribers.

SNK Playmore’s latest fighter has been widely praised by the community since its release late last year and provided some amazing matches at EVO 2012, so now’s your chance to check it out for yourself if you haven’t already. Also, the Mr. Karate add-on will be reduced by an additional 30% for all PlayStation Network users.

      Game would have taken straight the fuck off if it shipped with even somewhat salvageable netcode.  Everyone knows it’s a good game, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have an existing scene already.

      Sure it’s a waste of money, if you don’t like videogames. But if you do it’s the best 50 bucks a year you could spend. To date, I’ve gotten at least $800+ worth of free games and discounts with PSplus. Everyone I know who’s had PSPlus has been extremely happy with it. Only Downside with the freebies is once you stop subscribing you can’t play them, but any game you paid for at a discount is yours to keep forever. So to what you may think is a waste of money, is a huge money saver for everyone else that has a PS3 and likes to play all different genres of games. It’ll be added to the Vita real soon which is hurting for content. Sony’s making all the right moves IMO to be a content king with their hardware.

           I Run KOFXIII on XBOX at my CEO events Cause more players prefer XBOX in Florida. So this is a nice bonus for me since I never got the PS3 version. Too bad the game doesn’t have better netcode otherwise I’d be playing it quite often.

            I agree wholeheartedly about the netcode dilemma. With no real scene in my area, I usually have to resort to online for matchup experience. KOFXIII’s netcode is so bad though unfortunately.

           WTF a avatar got to do with anything and how is he trolling i understand where they both are coming from but i think PS+ is a waste as well after being an subscriber for a year its not for everybody and i see alot of others feel the same but for a person like me who buys his games day 1 a deal like KOF13 is useless a game that goes on sale is useless and not one of the free games i have interest in playing except VF5:FS which i gladly payed for and still would have if i was still a subscriber i like owning my games not renting them i found that out the hard way and thats a NO NO

      Retard. for less than the cost of the disc new you get piles of free games, including new games at times. Us that wasted our money on PS+ didn’t have to Pay for VF5. $50 on Xboxlive allows you to use the internet you are already paying for.

    Man that is super-good of them to do. Cynically, it’s a pretty clear move to bolster the playerbase…but nonetheless, tossing out a freebie is awesome. I really love KoF, but I’m hoping that the next game in the series carries over the massive improvements of this installment with improved netcode. That’s how the game would thrive.

      Once you re-sub, all free games that were “linked” with your account will be available to play and download once again. In other words, you can play and download any game under the “View Download List” tab.

        No…you don’t have to be online…you have to be a current subscriber. But once your membership ends, you can’t play the free games anymore. I personally just get the $17 3 month membership and use the PS+discounts to get better deals. As some users said, it’s not for everyone, as many people buy games day one, but it is a really cool feature. If you are new to PS3, it’s probably a lot more appealing, and you even get $5 and sometimes $10 off new games that just came out a few weeks ago. 

        Live has it’s stability and IMO better utilized OS, so I’d still say online is kinda even between them. Sony offers you more content because PSN overall code isn’t as lag-free and stable as live. If that changes next-gen, and Sony is still offering great deals like this, it might be tougher for MS to justify Live’s $50 subscription then…

        For me, I don’t really play anything online that much besides VF5, SF4, and perhaps a little Tekken Tag and that Sony Smash Bros game, so Live’s superior online doesn’t effect me much. I like the content approach…

       it seems you dont have the game thats good for you i had the game sense day 1 sucks for me the game goes on sale good for you had the game sense day 1 sucks for me the game is released day 1 for free 10 out of 10 times the game is good for you it sucks to me and thats pretty much how my year went with PS+ and the couple of free games i downloaded no longer worked after i canceled my subscription made me happy with my decision PS+ just not for me

    Super news, even though i bought the game on disc for both systems, im still very happy since im a PS+ member and more people will experience this great game.

    Playstation Plus is one deal i didnt feel ripped off. Otherwise games and consoles are overpriced imo.

    a good move, this will increase the franchise exposure considerably but it’s kind of strange, the game is free after just a year of been released. Does this mean I new KOF is coming out and they want to get as many potential buyers as possible?. :)

    not that I want a new KOF yet but this will boost the online matches for sure maybe I could find someone to play with for once this time around.

      I think that a new KOF only in 2014. The 20th anniversary of KOF and the next game should be a Dream Match, so it will have a lot of chars and they need time to make it.

    Y’all need to try this game online versus people with 3 and 4 bars.  If you think online sucks because you can’t block short hops, you probably can’t block them offline either.

      stfu, you dont know shit about kof to make a comment like that. the netcode is ass either way, the way you play online will get you killed offline against any1 decent enough. the online is so bad you actually have to use special online, you see that, ONLINE tactics to win. i can win both on and off, but online is not how you play kof.
