BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, the upcoming release in Arc System Works’ BlazBlue series, is currently planned for a winter 2012 arcade release, with a PlayStation 3 release following. The setting for the title shifts away from the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagatsuchi to the Ikaruga Federation. On top of the introduction of 3 new characters -Amane, Azrael and Bullet- existing characters have been given new character illustrations as well as new moves. Famitsu has posted a brief introduction on Chrono Phantasma’s Tsubaki, including her new character art as well as several other screenshots.
Tsubaki uses the Sealed Weapon Izayoi as her weapon, passed down through the generations of the Yayoi Family. In exchange for granting the wielder tremendous power, the weapon “steals the light (eyesight)” from the user, causing blindness. Though warned of this danger by Jin, Ragna and Hakumen, Tsubaki finally loses her vision at the end of Continuum Shift. The one who saved her was the Imperator Librarius, ruler of the Novus Orbis Librarium. In Chrono Phantasma, Tsubaki’s attire changes to black, symbolizing her fall into the hands of Imperator, who controls the world from the shadows.
