Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012 – Dhalsim Troll Reset by Liqos

Liqos has made this new ]Street Fighter IV video to show off some interesting Dhalsim tech in ver. 2012. Essentially, he throws a fireball, teleports, and then uses Yoga Tower or a taunt to get the opponent to move through him and make them block in the wrong direction. This apparently works whether or not the Yoga Fire is blocked. Liqos hopes that this video will reinvigorate some interest in the character. Notes on the reset can be found below the video.

This reset was intended to work of an antiair U1 but is not shown that way in the video, if you want to use it after an AA U1 you just got to delay the timing, if you know how to do a meaty ex fireball after any ultra then you’ll have no problems what so ever. The reset also work if the fireball is blocked, but further testing is required.

    He should have used this in a tourney before making this video. It looks like something that loses its bite once people merely know it exists. After seeing this video, which way are you guys going to block once Dhalsim backdashes twice, shoots EX Yoga Fire, IAT then does Yoga Tower or taunt 8?

         And how slow is the Yoga Tower again? Yeah, I’m sure a person who blocks in anticipation instead of reaction would get caught. Same as the people that get hit by Ryu’s j.MP as a jump-in because they block low after blocking the first hit instead of blocking low once Ryu lands on the ground.

          Those two things you describe aren’t the same thing…at all. Keep in mind if you vary your positioning slightly, you won’t cross up with the YT. Its definitely ambiguous enough that even top players might get hit with it. If you can’t see that, you’re stupid.

    This setup would be so much better if you could find a timing where Yoga Tower/Taunt 8  would not cross-up. Then you’d have a good 50/50. But if it always crosses-up it will never work on a knowledgeable player I feel.

      I think the 50/50 comes in whether or not he is going to do the taunt.  It’s not super fast, but it looks fast enough to make them guess.

        On some characters or if you mess up the timing somehow the yoga tower will get Sim to the other side like in the video. Then he will snap back to the same side as the first teleport was on and the combo will come out there instead. You can see this effect but without a follow up in section 3 of the video. So the 50/50 is there, just not in the video. And it looks weird, really weird.

      Maybe, but first of all the inputs for the reversal could get switched because of the side change. Secondly the Dhalsim player doesn’t necessarily have to hit a button. Reversals will obviously blow up any frame trap, but if your solution to every situation like this is is “reversal” then you’re going to lose a lot of matches.
