Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the Evo fans around the world, our first ever scholarship for gamers is fully funded! This fall we will grant one $10,000 scholarship to a gamer pursuing higher education. Thank you so much to everyone who supported this cause. It was a bit of an experiment for us, but you guys came through and thanks to that we all have the chance to make a difference in the life of a young gamer.

Students, we are now accepting applications!  If you are applying for the scholarship, please read this page carefully.

What is the Evo Scholarship?

The scholarship is a $10,000 grant awarded to a competitive gamer who is pursuing a degree directly related to game design, game development, or Computer Science.  To hear more about why we are doing this, please check here.  For questions and inquiries about the scholarship, please email scholarship@shoryuken.com.

Who’s Eligible?

Students are considered eligible for the Evo Scholarship by meeting all the criteria below

  • Will be enrolled in a U.S. located, accredited college or university in the fall of 2012 as a full-time, degree-seeking student
  • Have attended a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED
  • Have committed to or plan on committing to a degree in Computer Science, or a degree relevant to the design and/or development of video games
  • Have completed the online application for the scholarship

 

How to Apply

In order to be eligible to be considered for the scholarship, students must fill out the online application by September 16th, 2012.  A completed application consists of:

  • Fill out the online application at the end of this post.
  • Write a 300 word essay that describes how and why you game.  What does gaming mean to you?  Email the essay to scholarship@shoryuken.com with the subject line:  Essay – Your_Full_Name_Here
