Persona 4 Arena – Super Battle Opera 2012 Player Lineup, Character Representation

Roman Cancel recently compiled the full list of players who qualified to play Persona 4 Arena at this year’s Super Battle Opera, as well as the characters they’ll be using in the tournament. A few notable names include Yume (who qualified by winning Chou Tougeki), DIEchan, and Stunedge. It’s also good to see that every character has received some sort of representation, though some are obviously more stacked than others.

  Well, the Mitsuru etc amounts are partially because the qualifiers started before the patch that nerfed Mitsuru and Chie. They’re still strong/top though.

Some more notes on the player lineup:
-P3U Player, Spinking, Yume, DIEchan, and Syuuto (shuuto) were the members of the 5on5 team that OCV’d their way through this tournament: http://iplaywinner.com/news/2012/6/26/persona-4-official-replay-of-unlimited-circus-in-battle-aren.html
-I don’t see Kubo on this list but I thought he had qualified too.. anyway Kubo & Spinking are 2 of the 5 “kusoge gods” often referred to when talking about Kusoru, another one of them.
-The Buppa who qualified apparently is someone different from the Ky/Jin/Hazama player we’re used to seeing in Game Chariot vids.
-Pretty sure DIEchan & Koichi are the top Guilty Gear A.B.A. & I-no players, respectively.
-Souji is the top Arakune player.
-Himajin is the top BlazBlue player who IIRC currently mains Valkenhayn.
-Reria is the BB Lambda player.
-Tomo was more or less *the* top Labrys player and switched over to Shadow Labrys once she was released. S.Lab is considered to possibly be “secret top tier” so Tomo will definitely be someone to keep an eye on.
-GO1 is the same player that won Aquapazza at last year’s SBO and Melty Blood Current Code at the one before that. Generally considered to be the #1 Melty Blood player, always a killer.

Also I’ve heard that Chie is *the* most played character by a considerable amount, interesting to see other characters qualified as much if not more than her.

  Sibladeko told me Kubo actually didn’t qualify and people in the JP scene are WTF-ing. He’s strong with multiple chars in spite of P4U being relatively new and currently arcade-only, so it’s surprising he’s not in there.

  I’m not sure what point you’re trying to prove, but this does correlate fairly closely with the currently accepted tier list that is floating around right now. There are a few inconsistencies here and there (most notably Yosuke only have 1 representative), but the top 4 are spot on.

for the curious “千葉の堕天聖塩澤” has a fairly complex meaning, but basically it’s is a play on some light-novel based around an anime and the name means something like ‘fallen saint shiozawa of the thousand leaves”, it’s read ‘senryou no datensei shiozawa’.

i am still disappointed on SBO 2k12 for not having KOF, GG, or BB on the games line up. at least it will have
Persona so that’s good.
Aquapazza is ok but i don’t it it very much and the rest of them sucks for my taste of fighting games.
