Dead or Alive 5 Tag Team Action Trailer Featuring Jann Lee, Lisa Hamilton, and More

Tecmo Koei recently uploaded a brand new trailer for Dead or Alive 5 that features a variety of characters participating in the game’s tag team battle system. While this is the first footage we’ve seen of Jann Lee in action, the trailer also reveals that Lisa Hamilton, the relatively new fighter who wrestles under the name La Mariposa, will be joining the cast once again. The returning D.W.A. Coliseum stage also gets a bit of the spotlight, with its electrified ropes serving as a stage hazard that fighters will definitely want to avoid.

The ability to determine how slow and epic you want your final punch to be?…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gethoff-Mahfacebuk/558552166 Gethoff Mahfacebuk

Most likely just the new power blow move, or a charged attack.  3D games usually have several characters with chargeable attacks.

  • AriesWarlock

I wouldn’t mind a tag team with Tina and Sarah.

the most dangerous move of all

  • KingofBeasts

Wait did I just see Sarah Bryant, Akira Yuki and Pai Chan from Virtua Fighter?

    • Kaihedgie

Kinda late to the party, eh? XD

But yeah, Sega teamed up with Tecmo this time to have the VF combatants have some fast-paced action

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gethoff-Mahfacebuk/558552166 Gethoff Mahfacebuk

Have you watched a single Japanese match of VF5 in your entire life?   Virtua Fighter is played at a very fast pace when people know how to play, and don’t just mash 2p like US players.

        • Kaihedgie

What in the heck does this have to do with the trailer and cameo appearances?

Geeze louise. And yes, I have watched. It ain’t that fast, dude.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Col-Mustafa-Bubba-Holmes/100003387634705 Col Mustafa Bubba Holmes

Actually it is.  People in general just don’t know how to move in VF, let alone know about the stepping techniques and just press buttons for 5 minutes, before saying it’s slow.

DOA’s strings move fast, because a simple PPP string takes moves you half way across the arena.  However the movement is slower than VF.

ON TOPIC:  Game looks nice.  I’m probably gonna bite on this release.  It’s a watered down VF, but even a watered down VF is still awesome.

          • Kaihedgie

While I have seen some VF5 matches, I’m still not seeing the speed and admittedly, my only actual on-hands experience with VF was with that….Genesis port of VF2 (Why)

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Col-Mustafa-Bubba-Holmes/100003387634705 Col Mustafa Bubba Holmes

I should’ve mentioned there aren’t really stepping techniques in DOA, because of the lack of side-step.  So it’s more like BDC cancels from Tekken.  Maybe this one will have stepping techiniques since there is side-step.  So now this game can catch up to where VF was in 1996.

Again the fastes parts in DOA are the attacks since every attack moves you forward and far in a considerable clip.  I’ve seen people in person say VF is slow until they see someone that knows how to play it, then they are asking “How do get the characters to move so fast?!”

          • http://twitter.com/BerzerkDC Daniel Chlebowczyk

DOA5 now has sidestep and it can get you to backturned attacks, timed well.

      • http://twitter.com/Jiikae Jiikae

Just to chime in. I use to think VF was slow until I watched the best players play. It’s arguably the fastest 3D fighter as far as the back and forth pace goes. It’s neck and neck with SC5 to me. DOA5 may catch up if the sidestepping mechanic is tweaked more by the time of release.

    • spectaa

Yes, you just watched a trailer of Fighters Megamix 2.

      • http://www.facebook.com/darcrequiem Rahmel Bland

If only, I still remember the Hornet from Daytona USA was a fighter in that game.

    • http://twitter.com/FreeStepDodge FreeStepDodge.com

That was Lei Fang, not Pai, but Pai is rumored to be in the game. I believe they do share the same voice actress though haha.

    • jlb85

I don’t think Pai was in that trailer…

  • Michael Scofield

yea there will be some jacky in there as well I hear, didnt hackers get a complete list a while back from the demo

    • HotDunk

Not Jacky. The hack list was Akira, Sarah and Pai.

  • Combo_Knight

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TIC7WNRSMFBSCLF6OR6JQJAAZA sb

this makes VF5FS look so watered down and i thought TTT2 was gonna be the best 3D game of the year DOA5 looking pretty good didnt know about the tag team

    • Cype

VF always looks watered down compared DOA, quality nonwithstanding

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gethoff-Mahfacebuk/558552166 Gethoff Mahfacebuk

Looks can be deceiving then eh?  Opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of depth and strategy.

    • spectaa

If you didn’t know about the tag team, I assume you’re not big on DOA right? You might be in for a big let down. Don’t go put this game above Tekken or VF before you try it.

      • http://twitter.com/FreeStepDodge FreeStepDodge.com

If it’s anything like DOA2 and DOA3′s tag mode then it should be awesome. DOA4′s… not so much, but from what I hear it will be like DOA2/DOA3′s:

        • Combo_Knight

          Not really too exciting.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TIC7WNRSMFBSCLF6OR6JQJAAZA sb

naw i havent played DOA sense the first one i have VF5FS DOA5 is much better  and from TTT2 gameplay DOA5 is better its more action stage interaction it has power moves better character design plus more

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Col-Mustafa-Bubba-Holmes/100003387634705 Col Mustafa Bubba Holmes

Plus nothing.  DOA at it’s most advanced is super basic VF.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Yan-Zhao/10516382 Yan Zhao

Looks sick. Hype for the game!

Hate DoA or not, you gota admit they got some of the sickest tag team attacks ever.

  • http://twitter.com/WasiKaBooM WasiKaBooM

Uhm, did they forget to announce Lisa or did i miss that? I know she isn’t that popular …

    anyway, nice trailer, again.

    • iantothemax

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time she’s been mentioned in regards to Dead or Alive 5 outside of the character list found in the demo.

All I see is DoA2 tag system with flashy new tag throws.  Isn’t this the same thing they always do?

    • http://twitter.com/WasiKaBooM WasiKaBooM

Yeah, its what they always do. Some companies sell new versions of their old game with the tag mode for 60 bucks, others release a 90 second trailer to remind you.

(relax guys, i will get TTT2 too)

    • http://twitter.com/Dregamesta Zilch Zero

Some great things don’t need to change, who cares about entering a new ring? DOA tag has always been about launching characters and getting maximum damage while out maneuvering your opponent. So change of scenery during the middle of a tag match which should stay in a ring seems kind of cheesy, that’s why that stays in the single’s mode.

  • dementus666

Tina and Sarah wore too much clothes in that video.

  • Simply Chun-believeable ^_~ ♥♥

Finally Lei-Fang and Hitomi are an actual tag-team!!! Tina and Sarah also make a really awesome team!

Kind of disappointed that I didn’t get to see Lisa’s face, as she was one of the ladies that I was most excited to see with the new graphics.

    P.S. Where’s my Helena!!!

  • http://twitter.com/VulcanHades Luisito

    DEM BOOB PHYSICS.

  • http://twitter.com/HooliganCombo James Reilly

This game fluid tag mode impressed me more then the tag mode dedicated ttt2 (oh wait never mind it has solo too lolwut)Also shoutouts to unique win poses. Loving the combined “Hitomi/Lei-Fang POWER UP” :D ttt2 needs to step up their game besides relying on quantity of characters

    • jwong8383

Tekken needs to step up? lol bullshit. Tekken doesnt rely on the quantity of characters that’s just a bonus. Pretty much every TTT2 character is more diverse and more dynamic to use than any given DOA character. Doa characters are all about tap-tap chain combos and counters which everyone does the same. Doa5 may be fluid but the gameplay is always stiff and gimmicky compared to tekken. TTT2 will be better and will last longer, watch.

      • bladestreetboy19

Ofc it will..dont mind James…he’s a Doa fanboy who ‘s sole purpose is to take shots at TTT2 every chance he can….he’s just salty that people understand that Tekken  and VF will always be superior to Doa. :)

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Yan-Zhao/10516382 Yan Zhao

Considering how much clone characters are in TTT2, your point hardly stands. Though I agree TTT2 will probably be the tournament player’s game, DoA will certainly be the funner game for the casual crowd. Besides that, there is truth in what James Reilly said. DoA’s tag battles has always been superior since DoA2. Tekken was simply better as a solo fighter.

  • http://twitter.com/JuleVortes Jule Vortes

So why by TTT2 when I can get a game with a great tag system :D mutiple tag swaps, and fast tag action that keeps the match interesting and hype.

    • drifter eight

       Because TTT2 will actually last.

      • http://twitter.com/JuleVortes Jule Vortes

Well unfortunately not everyone wants to sit and learn wavedashing and backdash canceling. Every character can’t wavedash, but every character can be effective with backdash canceling. Those techniques require alot of time and even the pro’s will tell you they haven’t mastered them. However with DOA it’s something everyone can jump in and you can find great depth. Sidestepping in Tekken is very strict

  • blackavengre

I get a little bored of reading how everyone thinks one game is better than the other for x amount of reasons. We’re all entitled to our opinion, no need to state it like its the final word.

I know how fast VF5 can be as my friend plays at pro level, that game can get rather tense. Personally i think with all the changes coming in DOA5, that the focus is actually on more time in-fight, as all DOA players know the hold damage in 4 was monstrous to the point where certain characters have only to make two good guesses with holds before seeing victory.

I like all 3d fighters, so i’m not constantly trying to compare them or place 1 above the others. Especially at this time where not all the main competitors have made it to the market…

    • dementus666

I hear you.  I’m picking both up on September.

  • bladestreetboy19

Doa can put all the fan service it wants….the gameplay is still not my cup of tea…lack of a footsie game, the hold system, etc. make this a casual for me.

But for the Doa fans… enjoy urselves :)

IM LOVING ALL THE TAG TEAM THESE DAYS lolz

      Oh, nothing?

One of the most visually impressive and fluid 3D fighters from the PS2/Dreamcast era. Something that Tekken didnt get right until Tekken 5.

  • HotDunk

I’ll get this game on release because I have fond memories playing 2 on Dreamcast. And I want to make fighting games viable projects for more than just Capcom and Namco. I’ll get TTT2 when it’s $30 because it won’t take long and the online scene will remain active for years.
