Street Fighter x Tekken Concept and Strategy Series

webweaver13s recently took the time to put together an extensive series of videos for Street Fighter x Tekken that focus on the various concepts and strategies found within the game. With these videos, he hopes to show people the depth and potential the game’s fighting system has, as well as help players build their own game plan based off their individual strengths.

The entire four-part series has been posted below, as well as a general outline of topics covered in each video.

Part One – The combo sytem and meter management

Part Two – Combo management, Pandora mode, team synergy, and gems

Part Three – Underutilized technology

Part Four – Time management and damage per second

Stuff I already knew, but great content nonetheless informative to others at least.

    #OneOf15PeopleSayingThisSinceDay2

    • dementus666

Yet none of them put in the effort to put them together for the community.

      • kofi agyeman

The community which mostly hated it?
the shouts of “THIS GAME IS ASS! SFxT SUCKS!” were so strong, they were literally classified as Brolic Sound. You can lead a 23 year old fighter to a new game, but you can’t make him play it if he’s busy practicing bold cancels.

        • dementus666

Do you do realize you’re the only one posting anything negative on this article?

          • http://www.facebook.com/silent.cafe Kofi B. Agyeman

still coming from a place of love. no one talks shit about any of the older SF games, and they all have their issues. it’s all good. if they made every street fighter the same game =/

    • fiks

and yet nobody using such “significant” tech got top 8
not to mention tech does not necessarily make a fucked up neutral/pressure game into a good one

      • http://www.facebook.com/silent.cafe Kofi B. Agyeman

thats the same argument that popped up with the wesker video and all games. at the end of the day, you play to win. and you’ll do that the best way you can. why do wesker jaguar run links when anything else he does from BBCS gets you the same end result? the game has been out for mere months and it’s a different game. look at anything from the first month of anything compared to tech last week. it evolves.

with SFxT having the same frameword as SFIV, people will of course say, ‘well i want to win, and i know how i can do that easy so… why not?’ the point is that everyone is carrying SFIV on their backs heading into this. they play the 10 second footsie dance KNOWING that it’s the same clock and double the life. play the fighting game as though its a fighting game. attack, take the initiative, don’t hold onto desperate damage scaled combos. we’ve all done the math it’s not hard. you’ve got the option you can come to the same conclusion. Raw Launchers aren’t scaled, do a solid 100 and crush lows only 3 characters are not subject to double launcher scaling, and damn near what 14 people use the cross counter

My strategy that one me a match last week was timing out an opponent…I feel so dirty now…

    • webweaver13s

If you were banking on timing out your opponent I would put money down I could beat you.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002626482972 Rem Sevreign

No, I didn’t do it on purpose; it just happened. I aim to just rush that shit down, but it ended up being a poke war and we just ran out of time before I even knew it. By the time I looked at the clock, there was only 4 seconds left, so I just backed off my assault and ended up winning. I just felt dirty after lol As far as beating me goes, I wouldn’t be surprised. Evo weekend was my first time playing the game since launch week. I can still hold my own pretty well, regardless. But, after I saw the fireball glitch still affects Juri after her Super, I dropped the game again and decided to wait until a new patch is released.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

As great as this is, and I hope people absorb some the knowledge from these vids.  People aren’t going to apply it and continue to use Ryu/Rolento and stupid scaled boost combos. Half of this stuff people don’t even use. People talking about using the same tired combos, but what have you tried beyond L L L LMHH x whatever combo that nets you 250 damage?? Then complain about time outs when it feels and seems like you haven’t even tried to dive deep into the game. I’m not gonna lie either, I have seen some stuff in these vids even I didn’t know my characters could do.

Seeing all this info and know the DLC characters are going to be released soon makes me hyped for the game again!

Knowing all this stuff, I kinda hope that Capcom makes the change of giving everyone a re-stand move, so everyone has better reset potential.

    • webweaver13s

I am glad to see someone is at least gonna give the game a second chance. That’s all I can ask for.

    • http://www.facebook.com/silent.cafe Kofi B. Agyeman

they could also give every character a projectile to give them better zoning potential. they’ve already given some tekken characters projectiles, but downsizing their 3d moveslists to 2d gives them room to reconstruct and reinterpret. in 3d fighters it’s much more about the fighting styles than the character archetypes. you’ve got to have your zoners your rush down your mix up and your reset. while that seems to be the smartest way to play this game, because you have 2 characters and in, what is sadly, the extreme 2 people on the same team, some characters need to be better somewhere than others. be it reset crossup hi lo zoning punish frame trap. the gold of this game is you have two characters to choose from and capitalize on their strengths. and with two people you’ve got someone who might look at a character and play it differently than how you would.
