Those of you who have been following MarlinPie or some of the Japanese Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 players on Twitter may have noticed talk of some interesting new tech dubbed the Kubota Escape after the player who discovered it. Little information was discussed, but MarlinPie did divulge a few pertinent points regarding the glitch.

  • the glitch seems to rely on a dead character slot and tagging to the dead character as you cancel the tag in with some outrageous method.
  • executing the glitch is easy. no meter required. just a dead character.
  • this glitch grants about 3 sec of invincibility as the point character disappears. after 3 sec the character will pop right back in safely
  • btw. this glitch is useful. not much of drawback. i tried with half of the cast so far. seems like an universal glitch.

Now, we have concrete information and video footage of the technique in action, courtesy of Metallic Mike and T37 Rampage on the Shoryuken forums. Apparently, you must hold the tag button for a dead character during the opponent’s Hyper flash, and then snap back at the end. This causes the point character to disappear and become invincible for about three seconds.

Hypers with faster start-ups will still be able to beat this, like the 0-1 frame grabs and certain level 3s.
