Famitsu Reveals Rig, Dead or Alive 5′s Newest Fighter

When the Dead or Alive 5 demo was mined for information, one of the more exciting discoveries was a list that may or may not have revealed the game’s entire cast. While many of the names were familiar, one character named Rig stood out as unfamiliar to long-time fans of the series. The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed that Rig is actually a brand new character. He’ll be voiced by Hiroki Touchi, a Japanese voice actor who has done extensive work for both video games and anime, including Chris in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Additional information has yet to be divulged, but we’ll keep you updated as other details and better quality images become available.

UPDATE: According to the new image we’ve included below, Rig is a Canadian fighter that specializes in Tae Kwon Do.

  That’s a bit ironic considering almost 5 characters in TTT2 use similar styles and that game has hella clones + wasted slots.

    Not really. All characters in TTT2 have a shit ton of unique moves. They have similar styles because of story so its irrelevant. The only clones are Kuma/Panda and Eddy/Christie. Rig looks meh.

      Exactly, very ignorant post. Even the Mishima’s are vastly different, much more so than let’s say the Shoto’s in SFIV.
      
      I don’t see any wasted slot’s in TTT2 even the characters they brought back which were replaced with “younger versions” play much different. Nice troll fail.

    Tekken does not really have wasted slots or clones; there are often only variations in different fighting styles in real life, and Tekken simply makes use of that.
    
    For instance Baek and Hwoarang both use Taekwondo, but Hwaoraing is more about stances, and Baek is more about kick combinations; Bruce uses Muay Thai which is a standalone art, but Bryan uses Kickboxing which is an amalgam of various martial arts including Muay Thai, which leads people to believe they’re the same when they’re not; lastly, King and Armor King are both wrestlers, but King is more about grappling, while Armor King is more about striking. Eddy and Christie are the only real clones and they’re their only to please their individual fanbases outside of that everyone plays differently even the Mishimas (Kuma/Panda are costume changes so they don’t count).
    
    Lastly, you have to admit that Rig and Jin do have similar designs(they even have both have 3 letter names that kinda sound alike Lol), but at the same it’s not like Jin is the only character who can wear a hood. I can’t lie, it’s kinda like they gave him a bit of Jins look, but Hwaorang’s fighting style (the combination of them makes sense since they’re rivals), but I’m sure Rig has his own thing though, DOA and Tekken play nothing alike.

The character looks awesome, would be very interesting if he’s Native American (yes Canada is America to, it’s part of North America). Expect this guy to be off the chain and it’s about time, this game needs a Tae Kwon Do fighter! Now I wait for Mila, I’m beginning to think she’s a Latin boxer for some reason.
