Namco Bandai Set to Open Tekken Museum Tomorrow in Osaka; Grand Opening Event to Include Tournament, Appearances by Nobi and Yuyu

Various news outlets are reporting that Namco Bandai plans to unveil their Tekken Museum with a special grand opening event tomorrow at Osaka Nihonbashi Namco in Osaka. The museum will host a variety of Tekken memorabilia, including figures, artwork, and life-size models of characters from the game. They also plan to rotate the items on display regularly, making multiple trips a necessity for fans of the fighting game series. Luckily, admission is completely free.

The grand opening event is set to include a special Tekken Tag Tournament 2 tournament for those who attend, and will include appearances by top players Nobi and Yuyu. Namco Bandai plans to continue with mini-tournaments the second and fourth Sunday of every month, where top placers will be able to win a variety of special and collectible prizes. If you happen to live in the area or plan to visit, this is shaping up to be a great experience for Tekken diehards.

namco is putting so much work into promoting there. expensive work

Namco cares so much about its’s fans. Makes me really want to give Tekken a shot. It might be hard but I feel like in the end this is the kind of company and game I want to support and become the future of the FGC.

tekken’s already the biggest franchise so it won’t matter if they get you or not, they already sell a lot more than their competitors.

You should! I mean, fighting games aren’t mutually exclusive – so its to your benefit to at least dip your toe in many different fighting games. Tekken might be something you like.

Like all fighting games, Tekken comes with its own suite of “must-have” fundamental skills for competitive play – but the great part about most of these are that you can figure them out just experimenting by yourself.

Seems like a frivolous waste of money. I don’t object to it, but I imagine Namco’s shareholders will.

    • NORCALsubtL

frivolous waste of money to have a room dedicated to tekken… in their own building.

yes… i’m sure all that promotional gear that every video game company has lying around in back rooms costs alot to move to another room and use it to promote a popular brand and increase interest in their product.

I’m sure the shareholders will obviously pull all their funding for the egregious waste of money and time.

Because every generation should have nightmares, too.

Seriously, I can’t believe Tekken and Tekken 2 came out just 1 year apart.
