Tecmo Koei Releases Gameplay Footage, Screenshots of Lei Fang and Zack in Dead or Alive 5

Following their reveal in this week’s issue of Famitsu, Tecmo Koei has released gameplay footage of Lei Fang and Zack in Dead or Alive 5. They duke it out in the new stage “The Show,” which features a variety of environmental hazards throughout the circus themed area.

Famitsu’s website was also updated with proper screenshots of the two fighters as well as better looks at The Show.

  Yumi Tōma did voice Chun-Li in one of the Street Fighter movies, so it’s…not as big of a stretch? Maybe?That being said, I could swear Lei Fang did something similar in previous DoA games but it’s been a long, long while since I played one.

  I, for one, still like his Shadowman costume from DOA2. He actually looked pretty badass and his taunt would cause flames to shoot out of the skull in his chest.

Okay, I’m really liking this ‘fighting game entertainment’ thing if it means all the stages are this awesome. The interactivity is really creative, can’t wait to see what else this game has in store. And shoutouts to dat lean.

Am I hearing things, but does Lei Fang have Mai’s (from King of Fighters) voice actor now? Interesting, this doesn’t happen in fighting games. That’s probably Zack’s alternate costume, wouldn’t make since if it was his original.

People can talk about DOA, and hate all they want, but we ALL have to admit that this game is doing shit that’s never been done (at the very least, done this well) in a fighting game before. Team Ninja is REALLY destroying the barrier between cg movies we normally find in a 3D fighter, and what you actually get when you play said game. I think when you consider that along side the fact that DOA definitely has some depth to it, this game is looking pretty damn good all around.

        Stage hazards have been done for awhile now..However this game in general is pushing it in the amount of high quality stage effects/interactions during the fight making itself unique

        I’ve never seen anything in a budokai game remotely similar to this, although I never messed with them much to be honest. If there’s something to narrow it down to I’d say its that the amount of stage hazards are so varied in what they can do that makes this unique. Cliffhangers with multi-tiered environments, partitions you can knock people over, explosive walls that give a re-launch on impact, and… whatever the HELL just happened in that stage. Too many to list…. it’s a whole lot of insanity.

        Yeah, that’s pretty much been done before. In Budokai 3, you could knock someone into a nearby plain where a dinosaur would nom on them for a bit before knocking them back into the playing field with their tail. People seem to have also forgotten the Freefall Kombat mechanic shown in MKVSDC where you could continue to fight when falling from one tier to another or how you could run someone through buildings to wrestle for an advantage.
