Famitsu Confirms Lei Fang for Dead or Alive 5

While rumors about Dead or Alive 5′s cast have been circulating for quite some time, mostly due to some conspicuous code in the game’s alpha demo, Tecmo Koei has revealed little in the way of official character confirmations. Luckily, it would seem the latest issue of Famitsu contains a small bit of news regarding one character in particular.

Lei Fang, the technical fighter that’s been a part of the series’ cast since the very first installment, has officially been confirmed as part of DOA5′s cast. The magazine also revealed glimpses of a male fighter that may or not be Zack, as well as a bit of a new stage called The Show, which appears to be set in an amusement park or circus of some sort. We’ll keep you updated as more information and better images are released.

Not that I’m complaining.

The only official drop besides the boss characters, was Bayman in the original Dead or Alive 2. He was replaced by Leon cosmetically (Leon had Bayman’s moveset). In a later release of Dead or Alive 2, I think it was the console release, Bayman was unlockable due to fan outcry of him missing. Since then, they’ve been trying to separate Bayman and Leon’s styles. Ein’s been in every DOA since his entry to the series in DOA2.

…i just wonder what those two new characters – Rig and Mila look like…thats what hypes me the most about DOA5!…interesting…i can already imagine Rig being big/buff character, similar to Bass probably with nordic origin of Sweden or Norway…as for Mila, actually she sounds like she could be russian lady…

I done some research on those names, Mila is of Slavic origin so Russian or Ukrainian would fit. My guess is she could be the tallest sexy female character using Tae Kwon Do as her fighting style. Of course she could however be any female from any race, but there’s always reasoning behind the names companies pick for their characters.

Possible Spoilers: For Rig, for some reason I’m thinking American or some guy from the Mideast (Arab or some soldier guy with a lot of gear-who could be Donovan’s new bodyguard or something. Rig also means to manipulate or control something dishonestly (like changing something like rigging votes or rigging the remote). I agree also, that this character is possibly a big guy, but I think he’s a villain working for Donovan. Maybe Bayman is after Donovan and Donovan hired Rig against Bayman who could be the guy who put the scar on Bayman’s face.

If she is Russian, I would think she would use Systema. Tae-Kwon-Do doesn’t seem to fit for me. Especially since its Korean.

For those who don’t know, Systema is a Russian martial art taught to their military, other military, and some civilian classes. Unlike Sambo, which is what Bayman is based off, its more fluid and more about using the opponent against themselves. Much like Aikido if you will. Whereas Bayman is very aggressive and “get the job done now” style, Systema is more about defense, or counter attacks/parries Still a “get the job done now” style, but easier since it usually doesn’t require brute strength like what a Sambo user would generally do.

As for Rig, if he is an ex-American Special Forces guy, I could imagine him using a military martial art as well. One that comes to mind, all though I’m not adequately knowledgeable of, is Defendu(not making that name up). The way I was explained to, it was like an American variant of Sambo and Crav Maga mix..

Actually Systema sounds pretty interesting, never heard of that before. The reason why I said Tae Kwo Do is because that’s a fighting style the game is lacking. Tae Kwon Do or any other fighting style is not just made for Koreans, but systema would make a lot of sense.

I can also see Rig using Brazilian Jujitsu.

It’s obvious that Zack’s and Lei Fang’s alternate costumes are inspired by the Circus level. Just so you know the Circus level is suppose to have two platforms. That’s obviously not Zack’s original costume.
