People make tier lists because they want to feel they’re gaining a command of the game. The lists are a magic feather, in most cases.

I think it’s more productive to point out characters who, due to oversight in design or balance, break down the game logic. Often, supposedly “overpowered” characters aren’t really unbeatable, and in fact are quite beatable. But they may be stupid. For instance a character that is so lopsided they boil down to a single move done over and over because playing the game any other way becomes pointless.

The perfect example would be 3rd Strike Chun – low MK xx SAII = welcome to the entire match. Is Chun beatable? Sure! Does she make the game stupid! Sure!

  I play Rolento and I don’t even agree with you. His EX patriot circle can be used as an AA if you really need invincibility, and his standing medium punch beats out pretty much every jump in in the game at the right angle and timing. His jab pressure is absurd and there are characters in the game that can’t do anything about his pressure when they don’t have meter. Nevermind his amazing mixup. He definitely could use a nerf.

Almost every other character in this cast has tremendous jab pressure or insane high-low mix up, with some having instant overheads. Rolento doesn’t have an overhead, and his high-low mix up is decent at best. Some characters are weak and don’t have a way to break out of jab
    pressure, sure but it’s more of them needing something to counter it
    than him needing a nerf.

Why are people always bitching about how early tier lists appear? It’s perfectly natural to build a tier list as soon as you get any sort of opinion on the game. Every person who touches the game makes a mental tier list on day 1 – it’s how competitive minds SHOULD work. A tier list is simply an ongoing discussion and can be started an any time.

Rolento, Rufus, are the best that Ive seem and right away players see that and use them on most of their teams. Ryu has always been a strong character in every SF game to date so it’s natural that he would be high tier.

It’s no surprise the tekken cast isn’t fully explored quite yet. Love them and hope to see drastic changes from players perspective once a new rework of the tier list comes out.

A tier list after one week? Personally I think tier should be on a player to player basis. I’m good with Bob & Heihachi & they are low on the list. Yes, some characters are built to be better but it’s all about the player when it comes down to it. Just my thoughts.
