Nathan Drake Was Almost a Character In Street Fighter X Tekken

Cole McGrath was not the only PlayStation mascot considered for Street Fighter X Tekken. According to Seth Killian on a recent episode of the PlayStation Blogcast, Nathan Drake almost got in as well.

“We were committed to try and provide some extra content to Sony and we were excited about looking at the different roster and seeing who was out there, and you know you’ve got all sort of cool characters like Nathan Drake, but you know Nathan Drake has kind of a nice Han Solo kind of everyman and he’s a comical guy but the Japanese team got really excited about Cole and the flexibility of his powers, projectiles, grabs, and all sorts of cool stuff.”

Drake will just have to join Master Chief and Marcus Fenix on the list of guest characters that will never be.

    EX Series is Arika’s property as are all non SF Characters in that game.
    
    Capcom specifically stated that mascot characters (the kitties, Mega Dude, Pac Man, Cole) Did not take up any slots for characters that were going to be in the game from the get go.

    MS has been dropping the ball on most exclusives of late, especially when it comes to fighting games (MK’s Kratos anyone?). If it’s not Call of Duty or Mass Effect, they don’t seem interested. Or maybe they just blow all of their money on those two games.

Cole’s ‘out there’ powers certainly fits better in a fighter,
especially since they can just say ‘LOL Lightning does everything’ with anything they’d want him to do (Sucker Punch already did that by making him replicate your average FPS arsenal with it).

  In Tekken you can put absolutely anything, nothing makes sense anyway. We had a 2 dinosaurs, and old man fighting off his back, many robots, demons, angels, all sort of animals, a dude with a sword, a dude with a gun (kazuya hides a gun for those who don’t know)…
  Master Chief, ugly as fuck, but whatever, go for it if kids like that shit.
