Just watched the archive the game does look really badly put together and boring. SF4AE never seemed so hyped to me before, I mean the game has always been my favorite to watch and I personally get hype, but after watching this sad piece of crap SF4AE is ten times more hype to me now.

If the game was so bad why’d you sit through the whole stream? – Umm to see everything for myself first hand and evaluate and make a rational decision on what I think of the game (which is the game is ass). I will admit I almost shut it off about 2 hours in it was literally putting me to sleep.

This is only pre-release play you can’t judge it on this. – I don’t judge anything in future tense; Right now, at this very moment, from what I watched, the game looks boring as shit and has a huge lack of creativity. Any comments starting with, “Its their first day playing the………After its released then we’ll…….You can’t expect the players to…..” are null invoid. I am talking about right now, its all I can do.

My opinion is that the stream itself put me to sleep.  But i’m still getting the game, thanks to the West Coast, and the Hugo bromance!  The whole stream was atrocious;  Couldn’t hear FC Hak that well, had to wait long periods of time just to see tourney matches.  And that god awful “We Will Be Right Back” music!  LB Chris G, TS Arturo, and BT IFC Yipes put on good matches in the first round of the tourney.

Just be patient, most fighting games that are very popular and withstood the test of time usually follows this simple rule: Easy to get into and play, but very difficult to master.  And I think this game has that potential!

”and will be mostly based on 123+3 combos, and every combo for this game will be accomplished week 1 of its release.”

That’s all future tense judgment right there. Not to mention the fact that those null and voided points are pretty valid.

        • Anonymous

this response is now null invoid

          • Anonymous

please stop saying “null invoid”. it’s not a thing. also it’s kind of embarrassing.

characterizing the combos as “123+3″ seems pretty disingenuous as there is pretty clearly already more going on than that, let alone what’s bound to be possible given even currently available knowledge of the game’s systems.

I’m really liking how gems are turning out. Do you guys think gems are going to significantly reduce the influence of bad match ups?

IDK but the combo system seems dead simple :D

      Looks so very custom!

      • http://www.facebook.com/Victormaru Victor Thammavong

Gems significantly reducing the influence of bad match-ups? I highly doubt it. The boosts are way too small and don’t last very long. You hardly notice the difference when it’s activated. And the combo system actually reminds me of how Marvel vs. Capcom 3 works where most characters can do simple chain combos but each character has their own advanced stuff. Remember how the entire world played Dante before MVC3 came out, compared to how people play him nowadays? Its exactly like that. The same applies with Street Fighter X Tekken. I’ve seen a bunch of crazy shit the characters can do. It’s just that most people go for the simple chain combos ’cause most people haven’t gotten their hands on the game for that long yet.

        • Moribund Cadaver

It’s probably too early to tell how the gems will truly affect matchups. In the stream guys are not really taking advantage of gem power when it activates cuz they don’t know how to play the game yet.

Later on, we may see people devise specific set ups and combos for their character that benefit from gems that then cause them to gun for getting activation. That mind game in itself, could affect how match-ups play out.

    • Anonymous

Speed maybe but it’s not like it will add extra moves. Gems would have less of an influence than say X factor or even ultra, but it still looks cheesy.

I was worried about the combo system but after seeing what some of these guys have pulled off I am no longer worried.  Some of that shit looks rowdy as hell and the timing required is going to be tight and there is linking in the game.

I’m pretty hype for this game now.  The only problem I had with gems was how Capcom flaunted them in our faces with how much money they were going to make off of them via DLC.  I think they have sort of backed off that and now gems can simply be something cool to help people develop their own character play style (as it should be).

I’m still not a fan of the graphics but I can get used to that.  They aren’t completely terrible and as long as it plays good who cares.

“The only problem I had with gems was how Capcom flaunted them in our faces with how much money they were going to make off of them via DLC.  ”

Lol, I must have missed that trailer.

“I think they have sort of backed off that and now gems can simply be something cool to help people develop their own character play style (as it should be).”

Umm…that’s exactly how Capcom described gems from day one.

      • Moribund Cadaver

It seems the predictions are going to come true: when the game comes out and real players begin playing it and making it look cool, it’ll be the new shit and everyone’s hype.

And yes, Capcom always did describe the gems as a SUBTLE feature that allowed people to tweak the playstyle of their character.

That’s actually a reason, I think, why the gem configuration for the main player profile works the way it does. They’re not like assist types you select every time at the select screen. They’re pre-defined loadouts you individually set for every character in the game. It’s expected that after some experimentation, you’ll “set it and forget it” and generally always use the same gem loadout on a particular character.

        • Anonymous

Everyones hype? Guess I missed the memo. I TRIED watching the stream.

Everyones hype? Guess I missed the memo. I TRIED watching the stream.

      • Anonymous

They were barely described from day one.  Hence all of the confusion.  The only thing that was communicated about the gems was that their were literally thousands of them Capcom could put in the game and they had already said there would be gems for DLC.  At the time nobody knew how powerful the gems would be and freaked out.

I guess you missed all those articles for the first month and change and not just a “trailer”.  If you’re going to be an asshole at least attempt to have facts straight.

        • Anonymous

The problem with gems was the communication… OBVIOUSLY. And Seth recognized it (Ono too I think). They came out with gems and were like “so we gonna put gems in your street fighter. Oh yeah there is an AUTO BLOCK GEM”. Looool.
Of course the smart reaction was to wait and see, but if one expects people to just wait for 1-2 month and not speak out of their asses, he is delusional.

        • http://twitter.com/emezie Emezie Okorafor

You want facts.  Here ya go.

“The only problem I had with gems was how Capcom flaunted them in our faces with how much money they were going to make off of them via DLC.”

FACT:  When DLC gems were revealed, Capcom never said anything about SELLING THEM FOR MONEY.  In fact, they repeatedly went out of their way to say “we haven’t figured out the details of how to distribute gems, yet.”

So, this “money flaunting” you speak of never happened.

To this day, Capcom hasn’t even revealed their desire to SELL gems as DLC. Maybe they will in the future, but they certainly have not flaunted anything.

“I think they have sort of backed off that and now gems can simply be something cool to help people develop their own character play style (as it should be).”

FACT:  The idea of ‘helping people develop their own character playstyle’, (your OWN words) IS ALMOST A DIRECT QUOTE OF WHAT ONO HAS BEEN SAYING SINCE THE FIRST REVEAL OF GEMS.  This has never changed.  Ever.  They have not backed off of that concept at all.  Nothing has changed.

          • Anonymous

FACT:  It was mentioned several times that gems would be DLC and also pre-order bonuses that would include different gems depending on which place you bought them from.  No clarification was given for quite some time…most likely due to the severe reactions fans had to Ono’s statements about gems being DLC and the fact that they would most likely be sold.  This is Capcom so this cannot shock you or seem unlikely.

FACT:  I didn’t say otherwise.  I said they stopped emphasizing all the ways they could put gems in players hands via DLC/pre-orders which allowed the focal point to go back to what the gems are actually in the game for…customization.

            FACT:  You’re a fucking moron.

That was the thing I’ve noticed during the stream.  It’s too easy to sit on your lead and let the time run out.  Of course nobody knows how to play all that well yet but it still seems like it could be an issue.  Of course, that was said about MvC3 and UMvC3 too (especially the latter) and we all know how that has turned out.  Only ChrisG and Deiminion ever seems to time out on matches.

      • http://twitter.com/Paper_Tank Chris Henao

Exactly. People are so quick to forget how many timeouts happened during the early life cycle of MVC3 and now we’re doing double-bops for K.Os in the first 10 seconds of a match.

This is SFxT day negative some obscene amount of days and we should understand that when people get to go into the lab they can actually start hitting the big damage combos. Right now all the players were doing was a mad footsie game with occasional chains, you know? Not exactly the most high damage approach.

      • Anonymous

Time outs existed because EVERY MOTHERFUCKER WAS USING DEFENSE GEMS.  Notice how damage went through the fucking roof once people stopped using defense gems (even before their attack gems kicked in, too).

          • http://www.facebook.com/rokninja Jelani Akin Parham

People have very, very short-term memory.

Time outs were a huge problem when MvC3 first released, I  remember dozens of complaints and requests to slow the timer down – myself inlcuded. XD

          • Anonymous

Wrong, again.  Time outs were occurring for BOTH reasons.  You saw Chris G – the man who already figured out the most damaging combos of tournament, having time outs because he simply couldn’t get enough damage in.

When BOTH Teams are packing 3 Defense gems for each character, the game slows down immensely.  It becomes nearly twice as hard to kill a character.

Once Chris got to fight people without defense gems, he FLATTENED them with basic Hwo/Xiao combos.

Most problematic thing I noticed was timeouts but I’m sure once the high damage combos start coming out then that will remedy the issue. I kind of wish that capcom stuck to their tag format instead of tekken tags format. It can get very intense(which is a good thing) because you have to watch your characters life bar and use the tag systems as part of your defense strategy but I still say that extends the time of each match a little to much.

    Wow, that commentary was unbearable.

I was interested in seeing these players feel out a new game, but jesus…. could those two be any more awkward and in Jago’s case, unpleasant?  At least Hak was present and focused on the action. Jago tho, looking jaundiced and sounding bitter as ever, was more interested in doing his tired “hey I’m being an asshole for no apparent reason” bit.  So much so that Hak would simply ignore Jago’s random, dickhead comments. That kind of exaggeration really makes you sound like a scrub who started playing yesterday.

People love to hate on SFxTK. I’ll see you hypocrites at the gamestop line and the SFxTK forums.

I remember when people was shitting on mvc3 before release about so and so and yet they still got it because everyone did, sfxtk will follow the same route except sfxtk wont have alot of random comebacks, cuz gems wont bring you back or help you if you dont know what your doing

Gem’s are not really a comeback mechanic. We’ll have to see how Pandora mode works out for that.

My only beef with gems is that they look ugly as fuck once activated.

I completely said fuck this game after all the nonsense mechanics got introduced. But I like how its looking. This was a good showing and i’ve been won over. Twas a fun stream too. FC did a nice job. Its still a learning process for everyone so its kinda tough doing commentary on the game.

I hated the thought of gems initially. But they really are not that bad. Pandora is almost a nonfactor. Huge character variety. Character switches during special moves creating some crazy unblockable setups. Oki game is deeper than SF4. No where near as boring as SF4 can be. the basic launcher string is not safe at all so it should be used wisely. That also means learning actual combos and links is a must. counter hits play a bigger role in comboing and damage output (i guess thats a tekken thing with all its frame traps)….

I’m just judging from what ive seen, but it seems to be more solid than many make it out to be. I hate absolute guard but when you think about it, it just means you have to learn safe strings and mindgames.

Capcom is some money grubbin ass muhfuckas but hey…me and my folks will be havin fun wit this.
