French Soul Calibur V Launch Tournament Matches from eLive.Kayane

Soul Calibur V doesn’t hit Europe until Friday, but that won’t stop the French competitive scene. Last night, eLive.Pro Kayane teamed with Namco Bandai to host a 64-man (technically 63-man and one woman) launch tournament featuring France’s top players. Today Kayane uploaded two playlists from the event–one of the casual matches and one of the tournament–for over three hours of high-level play. Though I don’t know why they had to call all the matches using a leftover radio transmitter from the Battle of Ypres. Must be a Euro thing.

Kayane changed sponsors? Why those things never hit the news when it happens? It may be silly at first but it’s a website focused on fighting games, kinda like news sites focused on Soccer cover when a player is hired by another team.

France seems to be pretty big on SCV. I’ll be going there soon, so this is excellent. How’s the scene for other games like UMvC3?

    • le_mormegil

SF4 is still the main game in France, though things are slowing down a little bit. Marvel isn’t big in France, you’ll find players in Paris and Lille but overall it’s a niche game like Blazblue. Kof13 has a bigger scene comparatively, it’s the second biggest game for now but SC5 and SFxT have a lot of potential in terms of competition.

You’ll also easily find players for oldies like third strike, super turbo or kof2k2um. French people nevergot into HDR though.

KOF 13 is such a good game!

Ah. That a little upsetting since I play UMvC3 the most. I used to play Third Strike, but I never got particularly good at it. Guess going to France for a year finally gives me a reason to get into SF4. Do you know if Skull Girls getting released there?

        • le_mormegil

It is. Can’t say if people will play it though.
