Soul Calibur V – Algol, Edge Master and Soul of Devil Jin Reveal Trailer

Namco just released a new trailer for Soul Calibur V featuring Algol, Edge Master, and Katsuhiro Harada with the Soul of Devil Jin fighting style. This trailer marks the first time we’ve seen any gameplay footage of Algol in action, so definitely check it out.

However some characters really had NO chance against him, and his infinites against Sieg/NM didn’t help.

The main problem with him wasn’t bubbles being a projectile, and Calibur being a “non-projectile” game. There’s been plenty of projectiles in the series that had varied success. The issue with Algol was his slow angled dual bubbles, combined with his ability to have 4 bubbles out at once, combined with his amazing backstep and long range poking ability. I’ve heard different reports so far, some saying ALL bubbles cost meter now, some saying slow bubbles are gone entirely, etc. I can’t say for sure what the new game will bring, but it’s clear that this is one character they took a long, hard look at.

By the time he was banned, most of the tournament attendance for SC4 had dwindled anyway. Personally I don’t feel the ban was deserving, but it was a bad game so whatever. I quit so long ago, they figured out Ivy was top tier AFTER I left the game. And she’s been near the top for a while now.

People who aren’t familiar with Tekken will be surprised how hard that easy looking uppercut combo actually is lol. Consistently doing godfists isn’t something people can just pick up and do.

Also, at first I was a little confused by the fact that there are three mimic characters, but now that I see that one if for only females, one is for only males, and one is for absolutely everyone, it makes alot more sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone actually used Kilik or the goddess in real play.
