Soul Calibur had Star Wars.
Mortal Kombat had Kratos and Freddy.

Meh. Master Chief and Fenix are cool and all, but they really don’t need to be anywhere near a fighting game of any kind. No skin off my bones, really. Besides, it was confirmed ages ago no exclusives would be coming to the 360 anyways

FYI the same thing happened with MK9. Ed Boon didn’t want to leave 360 owners in the cold with a special fun guest character, but Microsoft refused to work with them until it was too late. The last scuttlebutt I read was basically that MS didn’t care until it started to look like MK9 was getting real hype, then they changed their tune. By then it was too late to design a full character.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happened here. For those who don’t know the reputation, Microsoft basically doesn’t give two craps about 1st party software unless it can be used as part of a promotion to move hardware. They structure their software strategies entirely around shock and awe value. More than one developer contracted to work on a Microsoft IP game has complained about this before… if MS decides your game won’t have good promo value after all, they cut you off. Demand you wrap it up and ship it incomplete, reduce funding, reduce support, even if it ruins you. There’s a reason why Microsoft Game Studios has never had any stability and seems to reinvent itself every year.

Don’t really care, to be honest. Doesn’t effect me since I have a PS3 and even if I had an Xbox instead, I’d still wouldn’t care. Didn’t care for Kratos in MK9 and I don’t mind this either. Guest characters always been a neat little addition ever since Soulcalibur II. Then again, the only time guest characters ever receive any absolute hype is if said character(s) are from Nintendo. Would have been nice to see a Fire Emblem entry in Soulcalibur Legends, but if SCV ever gets ported on the 3DS or Wii/Wii U, here’s hopin’ that becomes a reality

I think Cole is a stupid character and a lame ass addition to this game on the PS3, and honestly, if they put Master Chief or that lame Gears Of War character into SFxT… screw that.

This is supposed to be STREET FIGHTER CROSS TEKKEN. Keep it strictly Street Fighter and Tekken characters dammit! That time putting those lame characters into the game could be spent throwing in a Street Fighter or Tekken character we haven’t seen in a long time.

Somehow, I’d expect that this unfortunate turn of events is more likely to have been Microsoft’s fault. They don’t exactly make a habit of playing nice with third parties, after all… Ono-san is probably just trying to be polite (read, “avoid saying anything that could cause Microsoft to scrap the game for the 360 altogether.”)

First PS3 gets Kratos and 360 got no one..now this…just awesome…how about you pick characters from games on all consoles like SC5 did with Ezio.

Honestly since we cant get exclusives i feel as those PS3′s exclusives should be banned from tournaments right off the bat… They obviously didnt even try to add exclusives they could have added some of their own like they are doing for the vita version (Pacman,Megaman). Good job capcom way to make xbox pay more for less.

If only there was a WiiU version……they could have Captain Falcon & Sheik.

I’m actually kinda surprised that they did talk to Microsoft about it. I thought Sony had these fighting game companies under their thumb as far as exclusives. They may have gotten a bigger offer from Sony to NOT include characters for Xbox than Xbox would have payed them for.

But I really have no idea how this kind of stuff works, lol.

If master chief and marcus phoenix were the best they had to offer I’m pretty much good with the decision to with not adding them. Note to Xbox create a first party title character that would actually work in a fighting game.

It’s impossible for Master Chief to debut. The Halo guest appearance was already used in Dead Or Alive 4 — The Female Spartan “Nichole.” So that idea will be scratched out. Marcus Fenix? Isn’t he used as a skin in Lost Planet 2? >_>;
