Soul Calibur V Gameplay Footage of Devil Jin’s Fighting Style

Skr101274 uploaded a video demonstrating a custom fighter using Devil Jin’s fighting style in Soul Calibur V. His style is pretty much what you’d expect, although he doesn’t seem nearly as ridiculous as Heihachi was in Soul Calibur 2. The second video shows a few matches with other characters in the game.

2nd vid, 40 sec mark. Ugh hate “altered form” characters taking up a slot. Much prefer it when a move “tranforms” them into that state. IE Devil Trigger in UMvC3

It’s a completely different moveset. He uses the Soul of Setsuka style, instead of his sword and shield.

Yeah I just found that out a few min ago. I dunno man, In SC4 when you gender swap, there were always leftover animations for the other gender. Very AWKWARD ones. if they tailored this one for Pat, it likely won’t look as good on a female character. Luckily Setsuka was a bit aggressive, and Pat a bit waify. But what did they do about the umbrella I wonder.

Replaced/took it out. There might be a weapon unlockable that has an umbrella (hopefully) it was one of my favorite parts of Setsuka.

I just looked again, at him scrolling over him. Yep; thats APatroklos. I won’t pass any judgement till it drops. But, if they truly have 3 characters that have all the fighting styles, and an identical Pyhrra but with Soul Edge, I am going to be grumpy.

Yeah, a character that uses random moves is OK in this day and age (when random select is available), and having TWO- even if they work differently- (switches styles each round/ changes styles each match) is groan-worthy. But THREE?! completely unacceptable. It smacks of tight scheduling and making sure the game was done before next-gen consoles are announced.

I want to love this game, so it’s saddening to think that obvious missteps could mar the reputation of end product.

Devil Jin looks surprisingly good, Heihachi was off-the charts in SC2 though for a Guest character, he was high to top tier in SC2

Also I think I know the reason why Devil Jin is in SC5, they want to test a style from Tekken on a different platform, test character for TxSF I think.

Pyrhha is such a terrible character. Her intro is her terrified and backing away, she apologizes when she attacks, makes orgasmic screams anytime she’s hit by ANY attack; even her block animation is her cowardly holding her shield in front of her like some scared little rabbit. This is seriously the worst female character design I have ever seen in a 3d fighting game. I don’t want to ever hear anyone bringing up DOA’s females ever again, even Kokoro was not this dreadful.

Perfect how, because she’s a hero who hates fighting and is terrified the entire time? Alisa from Tekken hated fighting and she wasn’t nearly as bad. I never thought I’d see the day when I’d say Alisa was a better female character design than something else.

This player doesn’t look very good at the game. He’s basically attack-spamming. If someone played Heihachi the same way, he would look just as stiff. So it’s hard to say if he’s as good as Heihachi or not based on this.
