2 vs 2 looks fun, I’m more excited for the game, but if they don’t put dudley in this game for the ultimate match up against steve fox, Capcom looses credibility for cross up games.

This game is actually going to be very viable for high level tournament play.  Instead of nagging Capcom to nerf/buff characters, you can do it yourselves.  Ono is a genius despite his trolling facade.

Clearly a casual mode you’re supposed to play with three other friends around your couch.
Preferably while intoxicated.

You don’t have to buy them for starters (moot point these days I know), but what they do give you to start with and for free should be sufficient I’d think.  No idea why they need to make colors DLC, but hey at least it won’t cost you a dime.

If they do do paid DLC color packs, I’d imagine that they would be patterns you could apply to clothing like maybe snake, leopard or tiger. I could see myself dropping a buck or so for that I think.

Skullgirls fans should take note, THIS is how a quality fighting game looks.  Note the emphasis on footsies and strategy?  You can’t just leap in and do some long memorized combo from training mode here(which is the basis of Skullgirls sadly).  This game is highly strategic, like an old school fighter.  Mike Z needs to step his game up if he wants to compete with Capcom.

Xiaoyu retains her BT stance? I’m surprised, don’t think I’ve seen a char. with a BT stance in a 2d fighter before. Also, Scramble mode is the most fun I’ve had watching this game since the pandora/gems nonsense.

Looks like there are 11 slots left, 6 on SF side and 5 on Tekken side. So could it mean that Tekken side has, Bryan, Jack, Christie and Leo and SF side has Dudley, Elena, Cody, Guy, Akuma and Random Select…

“We will be releasing more colour packs over time…” that sentence does not bode well at all.
Changing colours is literally just changing RGB values in the code. The fact that they want to only allow a few colours at the start shows that they want to make you pay just to change colours.
I get paying for alternate costumes because they take time and effort to model and skin, but trying to make me pay for just to alter a RGB value is ridiculous.
I like how they call them “colour packs” when there’s going to be nothing to download. You’re literally just going to be paying to have the “privilege” of changing 3 numbers ever so slightly.

Seems like I will be waiting a long time before I buy this game. Once I hear feedback on the gems and I know exactly how the DLC will work and once a complete edition is released with costumes and colours all in. Shame

Because I said that a company has to make money somehow?   Would you prefer Capcom make less money, and be unable to fund other future fighter projects?  Maybe some of us would like to see a sequel to Darkstalkers.  That can’t happen if Capcom doesn’t make enough money from this venture.  When you get older and more mature, you’ll understand the importance of sensible business planning and increasing profit margins and why this sort of thing is imperative if a company is to make enough revenue to continue providing you, the consumer, with products you enjoy.

No. Brawl and Melee are not fighters. The object is not to fight and you won’t win through just sheer fighting. You either have to have the most Knockouts, be the last man standing, have the most coins, or score the most points if you’re playing Bonus Mode.

Gems you have to make the little gem icons and code the gem attributes in to the game and make sure they work.
For colours Capcom have to do nothing. In fact they have to do more work to NOT allow you all colours in the first place.

They have enough ways of making money other than having to suck the consumer dry by making them pay for literally nothing.

Changing colours is literally no work for them at all. The only reason they can get away with this is because of consumers lack of knowledge.

gems wont be a problem until there’s a 5 minute period between every set where the players leave vs mode, go to the main menu, go to character customization, go to gem select, scroll through the long ass list of gems, set all of their gems, save it over the previous players customizations (this all happens twice since each player will have to do it). go back to vs mode, select characters. GO!

and there is interview footage of the interviewer saying “what are you going to do for the pro players to set gems quickly between matches in tournament play?” capcom rep: “well we know they would like to have everything move quickly… and we’re trying to work this out… (long ass pause) we’ll see.(that’s capcom for NO)”

sure. invincible backdashes (at least in sf4 where they’re like 9 frames or something long like that) kill any ground game after a knockdown. doing meaties is almost pointless unless you like to OS a bunch of shit during a meaty attack and even then it’s risky. if sf4 had like 2-3 frame reversals windows that couldn’t be mashed out so easily this wouldn’t be that big a deal. unfortunately the 5 frame reversal, fadc on block bullshit already makes meaties a bad choice to begin with, layer invincible backdashes on top of that and it just makes it useless. ever notice how many hard knockdowns are in sf4 and why they’re so important? ever wonder why after every hard knockdown your best option is to safe jump or cross-up (or stupid ass vortexes)? gets boring and repetitive really fast imo not to mention the incredibly low amount of block stun in the game making hitconfirm into anything incredibly important.
sfxt has the partner switch out assist which makes reversals safe in some cases so it’s like fadc on block all over again. one of the great things about past sf games was that after a hard knockdown you could keep momentum in your favor without always resorting to a jump in after a knockdown and OS everything in case it whiffed. OS for the most part are not impressive because it takes out reading your opponent or any type of good guess/read which is what makes fighting games more exciting imo.
this is just my opinion and i know there are some die hard sf4 fans out there and i don’t mean to shit on their game but this is why i don’t like sf4 for the most part. maybe if it was my first sf game i wouldn’t mind so much but i miss mix ups and they aren’t in sf4 and it’s still too early to say for sfxt but it’s looking that way so far. fortunately sfxt looks to be a lot faster than sf4 so maybe things will be more ambiguous in certain situations where you don’t have to do the obvious and play super safe. here’s hoping that this game will be great whether it’s tourney viable or not.
