UMVC3 – Nemesis Deadly Reset Tutorial

Devil Slayer X has produced a new tutorial video for Nemesis which shows us how to utilize Deadly Reach for reset opportunities. It’s actually pretty simple. Throw out a Deadly Reach in the middle of a combo and you can predict the opponent’s tech time. Throw out an anti-air command grab and it will hit opponents who tech forward or backward. The only weakness is that air-dashing characters can either dash to the ground or, during mid-screen combos, dash backward to get out. However, if you manage to hit the reset you can easily finish off any character with a million health or lower without meter.

Just don’t move the stick forward or backward when you get reset and he can’t grab you.  Air dash characters can dash backwards or dash straight to the ground to avoid it also.  I heard it might be inescapable if you have them in the corner but not sure.

It’s just a really good mix up at best.

How does that work? In the video he does it off neutral tech.

      • http://www.facebook.com/medina.dean Dean Locke Medina

(OnlyWingedAngel): Depends on the character for neutral tech, small characters are going to be whiffed usually, and say Wolverine in Berserker Charge he drops faster so its going to whiff, but usually big guys are going to get hit by it. Most of Nemesis’ resets in the corner are neigh-inescapeable though I have yet to escape try it there with these resets.

A lot of people have known how deadly nemesis really is, it just shows how little work, so many top players actually put into characters, cause I can’t think of any Nemesis players that are using the character properly.

I;m sorry but while this is informative and I can see how it would be useful for nemesis players, I just gotta admit that I absolutely HATE and detest things like this in current gen  fighters.

I don’t believe that their should be resets or setup that are inescapable depending on the character that you choose. I understand setups that are tricky and ambiguous but when one hit equals your character’s entire health strictly because they aren’t a flying or aerial designed character… that’s just too much. Every setup should be avoidable and escapable by every member of the cast in some way and the joy and effectiveness of the setup should be judged on ambiguously throwing it in mid combo and catching your opponent off guard, NOT because they don’t have a specific type of character. I just don’t believe that it’s truly fair to have things like this and Nemesis isn’t the only one. Haggar, she hulk, skrull, felicia, etc all have things like this that guarantee death to a character strictly because they can’t fly or airdash which is over 50% of the cast.

And no disrespect but you’re a complete jacka$$ if your response is “Well then don’t get hit Herp Derp.” Yeah…. right. Anyway, I just don’t know if I’m feeling stuff like this in games today. It really takes the fun and sportsmanship out of the game in my opinion.

If you read the paragraph at the top page you would have understood how to get out of it already (even if you don’t have an air dash).  Our local Nemesis player known for doing well at NEC (Unknown) has been using this stuff already for a while.

If anything stuff like this is more like the old games because you got put in really fucked up situations where if you didn’t make the right decision very fast you would die.

    Scary tech…
Don’t quote me on this but isn’t the trick to let go of the joystick if you’re suspecting an air reset since when you’ll fall straight down and can’t get grabbed by resets like this, just like She-hulk? Problem is of course that you eliminate blocking when you do it… >_<

    • http://twitter.com/DevilJin01 Devil Jin

Basically.  The actual mix up is hoping you decided to escape the grab so he can counter hit you.

this makes me kinda salty as a thor player, gotta keep watching out out for back/forward techs, mashing when going for a reset and this guy can just air tech you and throw out his command grab from a distance >.>
