MBAACC Ver. 1.07 C-Ryougi Shiki Combos

jourdal doesn’t just scan Nico Nico Douga for Blazblue videos. Sometimes he manages to pick up some Melty Blood action as well. This video by Ashdiamond shows off what C-Ryougi Shiki can do. Most of the combos average 4-5k damage with very low meter usage.

Wait, is this Nanaya’s mom? (I know this isn’t his name)
I want to understand this games story, but it is so branched out through so many games… and the hentai doesn’t help it.
Is there a database somewhere?

  Tsukihime has an all ages version if you’re interested in it it’s not really much of a hentai. It’s a visual novel, which is like a really long story with music, pictures, ect. There are times when you’re given choices in the plot, which will either lead you down story routes or lead you to certain endings (mostly bad endings). There are a couple of sex scenes in the game, but they’re far from the focus and omitted in the all ages version without any real effect on the story.
  
  Essentially, the story “branches out” based on your choices into 5 separate story lines, though they do all share the same background (though they share it in bits and pieces, so reading more routes will give you more insight on the characters/universe). Tsukihime also has an anime adaptation (pretty bad imo), and a manga adaptation (pretty good) based on Arcueid’s route in the visual novel.
  
  Ryougi is from a different series by Type Moon called Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners. This is a light novel series (not in english and will likely never be translated) that has a 7 movie adaptation. This has no sex scenes at all.
  
  Melty gets a bad rap for being based off a “hentai,” but the source material is actually a very nice romance/mystery novel with very little hentai to speak of. What’s stranger is that Fate/Unlimited Codes didn’t get the same reputation even though it was based off of Fate/Stay Night, which was also a visual novel with sex scenes. I guess it’s cause Melty has a more extreme female character/male character ratio.

      She has a “rival” that is talented in pyromancy, but cannot do other magic at all. Which isn’t close to Shiki’s foster sister who has gained the all-compressing heat manipulation.
      Her local nun cosplayer is actually another source of Shiki’s weakness, only hers is motion manipulation and consequently numbness to outside motion. But the silly part is that “outside motion” is taken literally since the reason why she goes on a murder spree herself is that she didn’t know she needed her appendix removed rather than her numbness stopped. Looks like there might be some pretty decent combo mechanics in this game but… damn if everything just doesn’t seem completely underwhelming (I’m including other videos I’ve seen of this game as well.) Also, is it just me or are the sound effects out of sync on some of these combos?

  I tought the same at first. One hour in the training room and the combos started to flow. Its pretty easy to get into, but with a high skill ceiling

The game has nice combo limiting mechanics (2 wallbounces and/or ground bounces per combo. 2 otgs per combo. 1 jump cancel per combo). I’m not exactly sure how hitstun scaling works, I think it’s something similar to guilty gear where gravity increases as the combo goes on.

Though in general the game is a lot more about finding ways to land Oki setups, with different combo enders leaving you with a different amount of frame advantage to work with (supers that end in hard knockdown tend to give the most advantage for some really dirty setups). Also, this video showcases how to get good damage/position off an airthrow or air counter hit, which is really important in this game.

Ryougi’s also more off a footsie kind of character, so it’s not surprising that her combos look unimpressive. She’s good at hitconfirming off of random pokes into moderate damage and a hard knockdown.
