At the VGAs, Ed Boon announced that Netherrealm’s next projects would be outside of the Mortal Kombat franchise, and we all took that to mean that Mortal Kombat development was going on hiatus. However, it turns out that isn’t the case. Responding to disappointed fans who misconstrued the news on his Twitter, Boon said that “NetherRealm has a number of projects in the works. Not JUST Mortal Kombat.” When asked if he was really taking a hiatus from Mortal Kombat, his response was a clear “No. NetherRealm is working on MK and non-MK games!” So there you have it; Mortal Kombat isn’t on break after all.
